Jacob and I just got on the train after saying goodbye to our parents and we're now looking for a place to sit. "We should've gotten on the train earlier Jacob. Now everythings full." "I know, I know. Shut up." "Don't shush me or I will go and sit alone", I said. "Fine, but do not come to me crying because they are annoying to you", he said. I went to go find a compartment alone. After a few minutes of searching I found one with a few girls in. "Well this is the best you're gonna find Arabella so get yourself together and go in there." They were all looking outside of course at the place where my parents were waving at me. I opened the door and all the girls turned their heads to look at me. "Can I sit here?", I asked. "Are that you parents?", a red-haired girl asked. "Yes, but can I sit? I am new, I don't know anyone yet",I said. I think my parents had found Jacob because they were waving at someone now. "Yeah of course", the same girl answered. "I am Lily by the way and these girls are Marlene, Dorcas, Mary and Alice"."Nice to meet you all, I am Arabella Scamander", I said. "So how are you new because you do not exactly look eleven", Marlene said. "Well I went to Ilvermorny but that didn't work out the way that I hoped", I said. "Oh well nice that you are here now",Lily said. "So you are all gryffindors I see". "Yeah, how do you know about the houses?", Alice asked. "My dad told me some things and even in America Hogwart is famous."Really?". I nodded. "Do you like quidditch or did you not have quidditch in America"asked a girl named Marlene. "No quidditch is a thing in America but I am not the biggest quidditch fan, don't get me wrong I love to watch it but me and a broom are not exactly the bestest of friends". "Same girl", said Lily. "Sorry for all the questions but is that guy you were walking with your brother?", asked Mary curiously. I nodded. "He is quite cute", she responded while giggling with the other girls. I am used to it by now, Jacob was in Ilvermorny also one of the popular kids.Then a dark brown haired boy with glasses came into our compartment. "Hogsmeade Evans?", He asked. Lily looked like she was going to punish him in the face. "Thank you for asking Potter but the answer is sadly no", she said. The boy left like nothing had happened. "That was James Potter, he has had a huge crush on Lily since our first year. Every chance he has he tries to ask her out, but she always declines", said Alice. "Right, but why hasn't he given up yet if Lily clearly doesn't like him?", I asked. "Oh girl we are talking about James Potter here, he probably will not give up until the day he dies",Alice said. I lifted my eyebrows but my mind wasn't quite sure what to think about this Potter guy. "I hope you will be in gryffindor! Or at least not slytherin", said Marlene with some disgust. "Hey! Not all slytherins are bad",Lily said kind of angry. "Sorry princess, but you will soon learn that Severus is not as nice as you think", Marlene said. I had no idea what was going on but I wasn't gonna ask any more questions. "Are there in Ilvermorny houses too?" Mary asked."Yes there are also 4 houses, I was in the Horned Serpent house". "Sounds cool." For the rest of the ride the girls filled me in on everything about Hogwarts.
"Oh, we are gonna arrive soon so I think. We probably should but our robes on", Dorcas said. Around 5 minutes later the train stopped. "Arabella we have to get out just follow us. I don't think you have to go in the boasts with the first years, but I can ask Hagrid. I have to lead the first years to him anyway", Lily said. "Ok, thanks".
When we were on our way to Hagrid, who was apparently a half giant, we ran into my brother and took him with us. "Hey Hagrid, do the Scamander siblings have to go with you or can we take them?", asked Lily. "No, yeh can take 'em, I think they're old enough to take care of themselves eh". What a relief. I was not looking forward to sitting in a boat with Jacob and a few first years. Lily took me and Jacob to a tall guy.. "Arabella and Jacob, this is Remus Lupin. He and I are the prefects of gryffindor ''. "Nice to meet you Remus I am Arabella Scamander and this is my brother Jacob. And before you ask, yes children of". "Nice to meet you both", he answered. "Hey Arie, I'm gonna follow the older students inside, so I will see you later" I nodded and he walked away.. And then out of nowhere James Potter yelled "Oi Lily! Hogsmeade?". "What are you two doing here? And where is Peter?", asked Lily, not responding to James. "Waiting for our mate Evans and Peter is with his girlfriend",said the other boy. Lily almost choked at those words "Since when does peter have a girlfriend? Nevermind I'll ask him about it myself later. Oh and this is Sirius Black". "Black? And you are a gryffindor", I said in disbelief. "You know the Blacks?", Lily asked. "Of course I know the Blacks, everyone knows the Blacks"."Well yes, I am a gryffindor and you are that Scamander girl aren't you?, asked Sirius. "Yes, do you have a problem with that",I asked. "No, just hope you are not like your brother", he said. I sighed, "Bloody hell, we are here for 5 minutes and Jacob already got trouble. What did he do?". "Nothing except let the whole train know who he was and let us know he is the new Hogwarts king", he said. I rolled my eyes, "Sounds like my brother". Lily and Remus led the first years to the boats. After ten minutes they were done and we went to the carriages. "Just so you know the carriages pull themself", said Lily. "No they don't", I said while I went to stroke the thestrals. "They are driven by thestrals. You can only see them if you have witnessed someone die in front of you. Most people stay away because they're a bit different. But I personally love them ..." I quickly stopped talking because I realised I was rambling again about magical creatures. But no one really seemed to notice anyway. "Oi!", said James. "Am I the only one that can also see them?". "No, but I am not going to engage into that conversation.", said Sirius. "Oh ok, for me it was my grandmother.". "Right, let's get into the carriage then.", said Remus quickly. I caressed the thestral one last time and went to sit in the carriage. The boys sat one side from the carriage and me and Lily on the other side. "So you three are gryffindors as well", I said breaking the silence. "Yeah"James answered. We sat the rest of the ride in silent after my attempt to let people talk. Except for James who had made another attempt in asking Lily out, it obviously failed. James then started playing with his snitch, Sirius was with his mind somewhere else, Remus couldn't stop staring at a picture and Lily was trying to figure out who the person was in Remus' picture but didn't want to ask him anything. We were the last ones to enter the castle. The first years were already gonna start the sorting ceremony. "We are gonna start with Miss and Mister Scamander. They will be joining fifth and seventh year", said professor Mcgonagall who has come to our home to introduce her. "Jacob Scamander". Jacob went up to the sorting hat. It didn't take the hat long to decide "Better be hufflepuff!", it screamed. The boys seemed a bit shocked with that decision, because of their run in earlier, but I kind of saw it coming. Jacob is deep down a good person. And ofcourse the whole Hufflepuff table was cheering. "Arabella Scamander". I went up to the hat,"Well well this is an interesting head".
