Paperwork

Summary:

Drake needs a break, but he has to get all this damn paperwork done and just needs a coffee.

But wait, what's this little note?

Oh well, nothing important- it'd be nice if he could rest his eyes for a moment...

Oh, when did he get outside? Who are all these people...?

Why does he keep dreaming of these situations...

Whatever, time to go home anyways.

Notes:

Sooo this is just one of the many fan-ships I appreciate, its a very cute and rather sad relationship in all honesty but I still like it a lot.

I wrote this incredibly early in the morning and was half asleep when I wrote it and am currently still half asleep while editing this.

There might be mistakes here and there, I'm currently too tired to give two shakes.

ANYWAYS Hope y'all enjoy <3

Work Text:

Drake had been doing his usual doctoring work in his hours on shift, but by now it was late and he had technically signed off roughly two & a half hours ago, but he had to get all his paperwork finished and filed by tonight- or he might get in trouble with his superiors.

As he tiredly fumbled through his lists and various files of patients, he spots a smaller, pink, and vaguely flower shaped card hiding beneath the mountain of files he had on his desk...

It looked to be crinkled and a bit worn, and based on its slightly sour smell a few mugs of coffee had been set on top of it at one point. He frowned slightly, wether it was from the smell or the fact that he hadn't noticed it before he wasn't to sure, it'd likely been there for quite some time all things considered.

But he's curious, and doesn't hesitate to open the almost palm sized paper folding. Now, whatever was written inside the card had been smeared and covered in old spilled coffee stains- so it was difficult to read. Most of what he could make out was something about a valentine and possibly something about a drink of some sort.

Though the name at the bottom was far too smudged to read, he automatically assumed it was something a colleague or even an old patient who just so happened to have a mini episode of FNE had written.

Either way Drake knew it wouldn't work out, he rolled his eyes and yawned before leaning on his hand for support as he glanced over the files before him. His day had been a bit rough and being on shift for so many hours prior, he had started feeling the exhaustion hit, and boy was it was hitting hard.

Drake's hardly able to keep his eyes open after scanning, filing, writing and organizing his chaotic desk for so long now that eventually his eyes start to slowly drop shut, he struggles to stay upward for a few minutes before realizing how comfy he was getting...

~~

He feels like he's blinked when he opens his eyes, except he's not at his desk, he's outside Pillbox in his scrubs standing above the curb where he usually posts.

There's chatting about him in a small group of people, he cant seem to recognize their faces- whenever he tries to look at them their faces fog or blur, but he knows them somehow...

The sound of sirens ringing fill his ears as an ambulance pulls in and a police issued car follows not far behind, the car is labelled with a green livery and the man who steps out smiles at him and steps before the doctor,

Drake feels his stomach flutter as the officer spoke:
"Hey, ready to go out tonight?"

~~

Drake opened his eyes abruptly and shot up in his seat, his face flushed red and warm...

He held the bridge of his nose and rubbed his face trying to wake himself, his mind clouded in embarrassment and confusion.
"Fuck... Why did I dream of him of all people..." Drake whispered to himself-

He checked his watch and glanced back at the card he had fallen asleep on.

Drake sighed and felt his chest ache for a moment, before standing up and organizing his desk a little, and heading to the lockers to get changed.

Eventually, after having brief conversations with a few of his coworkers, Noah headed out to the front of Pillbox and walked over to his car, finally heading home after his long day.

He sighed a little and drummed his fingers on the steering wheel as he drove home, the card now slightly more wrinkled together and shoved into his jackets inner pocket.
