Work Text:
Chuck sighed and put down the paint roller at the third consecutive round of clanging followed by cursing coming from the bathroom. He wiped his hands on the rag tucked into his belt and walked across the room.
“Addie,” he called and received another clanging in response. “Addie, I think it’s time we called an actual plumber.”
“Bloody oath, I can do this!” Her muffled shouting under the sink was followed by another clang, but it sounded more deliberate than before. “I’m a high class mechanical engineer. I worked on freaking Jaegers, for God’s sake! I can fix the bleeding sink!” Each sentence punctuated by a whack of the wrench on the pipe.
This led to more swearing as said abused piped sprayed Addie in the face. She frantically tightened the joint which stopped the spray, causing her to smile in triumph.
“See, I told you-” She was cut off by an ominous groaning and the valve bursting open. Addie lay under the spray –quickly becoming completely soaked— her expression frozen.
“I’m phoning for a plumber.” Chuck announced struggling to contain his laughter.
“You do that.” Addie tried to sit up and managed to crack her head on the edge of the cabinet.
Chuck couldn’t help himself after that, and the laughter burst out. The tiny brunette leveled him with a savage glare, but it only made him laugh harder.
“You shouldn’t laugh at people holding large wrenches, particularly if they’re your girlfriend.” Addie grumbled as she clambered out from under the sink.
“I know, and I’m sorry, it’s just.” He paused to catch his breath. “You look like a half-drowned kitten and this whole situation is just too funny.” He reached out and pulled her against him, not caring that she was soaking wet. She grumbled for a moment but gave in and hugged him back.
“I am going to phone for a plumber though, it’s getting all over the floor now.” She turned her head to see the product of her handiwork. She immediately hid her face back in his chest.
“Yeah, it’s pretty bad.”
