“Kacchan!!!!”
“KAA-CHAAANN!!
Katsuki forced his fluttering eyes open. Was that…? Yes, that was... Deku. He could just make out the emerald blob that was his hair and, somewhere beneath that, his eyes. That...that was good.
Katsuki thought his lip twitched into a smile but he wasn’t certain; he felt so numb. Or maybe it was cold??
Colors and sounds seemed to whirl around him, around the Deku-blob in his vision, but he couldn’t make any of them out. Couldn’t hear them over the strange rattling sound in his ears.
But that was okay. It was all...okay now. Deku was there and his search was over. It had been literal years since the damn nerd had been taken, but here he was, safe and sound. Well, Katsuki thought he was safe. He’d sounded off earlier, but he’d been shouting. Shouting meant okay, right? Katsuki couldn’t remember any more.
He was just so. fucking.
tired
. But he had to be certain.
“De-Deku…” was that rasp him? Whatever, it didn’t matter. “De-Deku...Safe??” he strained his ears to hear over the shitty noise.
It was faint, sad(?), but it was there. “Yes, Kacchan. I’m here, Kacchan. I’m safe.” He thought he heard a sniffle but it was hard to tell. That was okay, though, the damn nerd was always crying.
His breath left him in a shuddering sigh of relief and he let his eyes fall closed again, his word coloring black. His search was over. Deku was safe. He could finally rest. One last rattle sounded in his ears before it fell quiet and he was relieved at the silence. He drifted off and knew no more.
