Work Text:
It was a normal day, with cherry blossoms softly floating down in the morning spring breeze. The sun slowly peeks out of the horizon to greet everyone, and the birds sing beautifully to the pink hues that paint the morning sky.
Dew drops cover every flower, adding to the unseen beauty of morning, getting missed by almost all and getting appreciated by almost none.
Sakuya, who has been up even before the sun showed itself and the clouds blushed in its presence, took it all in. He liked the small, almost forgotten details that get overlooked. He likes to appreciate the morning, the coming of a new day.
It was like another opportunity.
And so, determined, he went to wake up Masumi.
“Masumi,” Sakuya shook his shoulder lightly, “you have to wake up,” he continued to shake him lightly, but he wouldn’t budge. He just shifted in his sleep, glazed eyes barely open, sleepily whining for a few more minutes.
Sakuya knew he wouldn’t wake up, and he didn’t want to accidentally wake up Tsuzuru, who usually didn’t sleep due to last minute cramming, staying up to do assignments, and trying to write down all his script ideas before they slip away.
So he went to the next person on his list, who he knew was probably already up, but he knocked on his door anyways to make sure he was up and getting ready for school.
“Banri, are you-” Before he could even finish, Banri was opening the door to his room. Still in his pajamas, with his hair all over the place. He looked a bit tired, but had his uniform in hand.
“Yup,” He yawned. He stretched and then ruffled Sakuya’s hair, softly chuckling at Sakuya’s big doe eyes crinkling with happiness. “How do you even get up so early? You're even fully dressed in your uniform.”
Sakuya just shrugs and smiles a small thoughtful smile, “Being up to see the morning has always given me a good start to the day, and even when something happens, I can think back to the morning, and it’s peaceful,”
Banri hums in response, and they continue chatting until they get to the bathrooms. Banri ruffles Sakuya’s hair again, “Make sure you wake up Masumi,” and Banri left, going into the bathroom
Sakuya’s eyes widened, “Shoot!” He was so into the conversation, he almost forgot to wake up Masumi.
Running back to room 102, he barges in, quickly apologizing to the abruptly woken up Tsuzuru. He shakes Masumi, a bit panicked, they would be late if Masumi didn’t wake up now.
“Masumi you have to wake up!”
He still was half asleep, but Sakuya managed to get him up and off the bed, and with Tsuzuru’s help, get him dressed and ready for school. By the time they were done, Masumi was a bit more awake, but still half dead. Stumbling on his words and footing, almost falling asleep standing at times.
Sakuya, practically dragging Masumi as he ran down the hall (to the amusement of the others in the common room and the hall), managed to feed Masumi, with the help of Juza and Omi.
And then they were off, with orange juice from Omi, and a “Have a nice day!” from the director.
Today, Banri surprisingly didn’t skip, he said he was bored of skipping and decided that he would go to school until it got boring again, which he assured would be very soon. For now though, Sakuya would see him across the hall and in one class, and would throw smiles and small waves his way, while Banri nodded in acknowledgement and response, smirking a little bigger.
After this class ends they would all meet and go to the roof, sharing lunch. And as the bell rang, he packed his bag, getting ready to go, a small smile on his face while he bit his lip and tapped his foot in a rhythm to stop himself from laughing and spinning. They all hadn’t had lunch on the roof in a while, and it would be nice to do that again.
And so he went up the stairs going up a couple of floors till he got to the roof. He quickly found Banri and Masumi, the only ones on the roof, at the same spot they always go to.
“Yeah!” Banri whisper shouted, staring at his phone with a grin. Masumi was right next to him, laying with his head on his shoulder with his earbuds in. Sakuya could tell he was asleep.
Sakuya walked over to them and sat down, leaning into Banri’s side, and watched Banri play his game. It was a fighting game, and the more enemies you kill (and depending on what class they are) the more points you get, and Banri ended up getting the most kills in the round and had the highest amount of points because of how many high leveled enemies he killed.
After a while he switched games. It was an adventure-type game where he had to look for things and do quests for people, there were also choices that can affect the way the story went.
Sometimes he would pass his phone to Sakuya so he could look for items and help make some difficult choices for him, and Sakuya would get engrossed in the game with its NPC’s and roam around, happily doing quests for the villagers.
One time, there was even a quest that required him to go undercover as a pirate to get back a precious amulet for a villager, and Sakuya looked at the phone with such interest and was shaking with so much excitement
so much so that Banri swears he could explode
, that Banri passed his phone to him so he could do the quest.
After a while though, the bell rang signaling the end of lunch. They all groaned, getting up, and shaking a sleepy Masumi awake to get to their next class.
Though they have to go to class, Sakuya can’t help but smile in excitement at the thought of doing this again.
