Friday afternoon shenanigans

Summary:

In which Daichi, Kiyoko, and Suga are the tired parents of the group, but they can still goof off.

Notes:

Just a reminder, Daichi, Suga, and Kiyoko are in a queerplatonic relationship. I have nothing against them being romantically involved, but in this fic it is queerplatonic, so please be respectful of that.

An alternate title for this is the brain cell gang being cute, since as the only ones in the group that ever really have a brain cell I think it's fitting.

Work Text:

It was a Friday and the gym was full of excitable boys filled with expectation for the weekend. It wasn’t long before the group dissolved into chaos, with Hinata sitting on Noya’s shoulders so they could look down at the taller ones, who had been teasing them for their height. Kageyama and Tsukki were chucking volleyballs at Noya and Hinata to try and knock them over. Tanaka was showing off to Enoshita by balancing several volleyballs on his head and hands. Asahi was freaking out over Tadashi, who had been hit in the face by a stray volleyball from the first four and was now lying on the ground.

Overall it was a fairly normal Friday.

Daichi and Kiyoko were sitting cross legged on the floor to the side of the gym, quietly talking and making fun of the rest of the team.

Suga entered the gym and immediately located his partners. He walked over to them, kissing Daichi on the cheek and then laying down so that his head was in Kiyoko’s lap.

“Care to explain today’s situation?”

“What, no hello?” Daichi teased.

“Oh hush, you got your kiss, now explain.”

“All right, all right, you know I can’t say no to you.”

When Daichi finished explaining what went down, along with a few quips and corrections by Kiyoko, Suga burst out laughing. “That’s a new one.”

Then his expression shifted, his grin becoming what could only be described as shit eating as he looked up at Daichi.

“What’s with the face?”

“Oh come on Daichi. I think you know. The shorties snapped, that’s ten bucks.” Daichi groaned good naturedly and fished ten dollars out of his bag to give to Suga.

Suga went to pocket the cash but Kiyoko plucked it neatly from his hand. “I believe that’s mine.” Suga looked up at her indignantly. “Don’t give me that look, I told you to stop betting.” She held the money out of Suga’s reach and copied his earlier grin. “Plus, I bet you 10 bucks that Asahi would freak out again.”

“Hey, no fair!”

Suga reached up to try and grab the money but it was too far from his position laying down. He sat up to try and get higher, but Kiyoko jumped up to keep the money out of his reach.

“Oh, it’s on!”

Suga scrambled to his feet and started chasing Kiyoko around the gym. Despite only being the manager and not one of the athletes, Kiyoko easily outpaced Suga when it came to running around the gym. She could thank her running experience for that.

Daichi watched his partners goof off, smiling the dorky, purely happy smile he reserved just for them. The three of them were so close, but he never got tired of watching them.

His thoughts were interrupted when Suga called out to him, “Wipe that goofy look off your face and come help me out Daichi! You know she’s too fast, it’s not fair!”

Daichi gave himself a moment to chuckle at them, then jumped up to join in. The three of them chased each other about, before eventually ending in a pile on the ground, breathless and smiling.

Yeah, today was a normal day at the Karasuno boy’s volleyball gym
