Hc: Jotaro doesn’t like going out to eat by himself so he drags his bestie Kakyoin to any new places he wants to try out.

Chapter 1: 3taro | Dine n’ Dash

Chapter Text

“YN, table five is ready.”

The manager slips his head back out onto the restaurant floor as the rest of the staff dart their eyes towards your figure in the back of the kitchen.

A mug from the tub of dishes you clasped onto fell and shattered onto the greasy tiles by your shoes.

“Fuck me.” You groan.

You place the dishes aside and bend down to scoop up the shards when the bristles of an old broom sweep them away from you.

Your coworker, Chieko, loomed over you anxiously and shook her head.

“I knew you shouldn’t have picked up Yuma’s shift today YN, and now you’re stuck with-”

“Kujo.” You both finished.

You had quickly learned about Jotaro Kujo’s reputation of dining and dashing when you started working at the family owned business. Your coworkers would gossip and chatter on how he almost always did it here, in local places where he could get away with it more easily.

Despite the restaurant’s frequent recommendations by top critics, Jotaro was never satisfied with the meals.

The only reason as to why he continued coming back was for the tables, where smoking was allowed and for the many drink choices.

“How on earth did you get so lucky?” One of the cooks remarked as you tied your apron around your waist.

“Pray for me.” You chuckle as your coworkers gave their condolences and wishes of luck.

You push back the doors to the kitchen and walk out onto the carpeted floors. The chatter of tables filled with business men and work groups occupied most of the lunch rush. You’d begged that Jotaro had gotten bored of waiting and left some place else when a waiter came running up to you.

You recognized him as the new hire, now in front of you and on the verge of tears.

“That kid is awful! Please, please just take his order- I can’t handle this anymore!” The waiter tossed his notepad to you and headed right out of the restaurant.

You lock eyes with your manager at the front of the house and he motions his head to where the waiter previously came from, then heads out after him.

Tables near you gave questionable glances and you flashed them your customer service smile, continuing onto Jotaro’s table.

“Honestly Jojo, I would’ve come alone if you’d behaved like this. Was there a reason to be so rude to that waiter-”

The giant of a teen had his head tilted back, seemingly ignoring the banter of the other teen beside him. You had never seen him around before, and you would’ve remembered. How could anyone forget such a peculiar hairstyle belonging to the redhead sat by Kujo?

Not to mention those slashes across his eyelids. Aside from the strange (almost intimidating) look, he seemed to have better manners than his friend.

His banter dies as he notices you heading towards their table. He straightens himself up and smacks Kujos arm to be attentive as you service them.

“Good afternoon. My name is YN and I’ll be your wait-”

Jotaro groaned and held up his hand to stop you.
“Shut it bitch.”

You backtrack and stare at him with raised brows.

“Just get me a blue lagoon.” He finsiend.

The boy beside him widened his eyes at his companion and strangled him with his eyes alone. He looks back to you and chuckles.

“Please excuse my classmate. We wouldn’t want a repeat of the previous miscommunication we had with our other waiter, right?”

His glare snaps Jotaro out of his bored trance and he rolls his eyes. Jotaro leans forward in his chair to tap the ash off his cigarette and returns the glare back at the redhead. “Just tell them what you want Kakyoin.”

“A melon cream soda please.”

You nod your head and jot down their order in the drink section of the notepad. “Any dishes to accompany that?”

Jotaro makes an annoyed expression and opens his mouth but Kakyoin had already shook his head.

“No thank you. We’re only taking a small break before we head back to class.” He smiles.

“Alright then, your drinks will be ready in a few minutes.”

You turn your backs to them and the redhead flicks the bill of Jotaro’s cap. The teen pulls back and puffs out a cloud of smoke in his friend's face and chuckles at Kakyoin’s coughing.

“Blue lagoon and a melon soda float please.” You call out to the barista at the bar side and sit down on the stool in front of her.

“Sucks you had to work in on a school day YN.” She laughs as she pulls out two different glasses and begins to mix in different syrups.

“I should be glad a spot opened. God knows I need the money for university Minaka.”

“What's good university if you can’t even juggle high school and a job?” She mentions as she jabs a straw in through the ice cream that sat atop the emerald green liquid.

You cringe at the fact and lay your head down on the wooden counter. “How’d you manage Mina?”

She smirks as she finishes the order with cherries on each beverage and places them on a tray. “I dropped out of uni.”

“Right. Like I should even be taking advice from you.”

Minaka scoffs at your teasing and hands you the tray as you go back to your table.

The two boys were in the middle of a conversation when you popped in and set their drinks down to their respective owners. Small ash stains stood out mockingly against the iridescent tablecloth you’d have to clean up once the duo was done. A migraine already forming from the task yet to come.

“Have you changed your minds on any dishes yet? I can place in an order.” You suggest, as it was customary for the staff to do so in order to push in sales.

“We already said no. Are you deaf?” Jotaro glares up at you and flicks his cigarette bud into the ashtray.

Kakyoin had given up on his attitude and changed the subject onto a question he had.

“I don’t mean to intrude, but do you go to our school? I don’t think I’ve seen you around if you do.”

You shook your head. “Most likely not. I take online classes for a highschool in the city.”

Kakyoin raises his brows and nods.
“I see. My friend had thought you’d look familiar-”

The table shook as a bang came from underneath. Kakyoin’s right eye twitched as he stifled a laugh behind his palm. Jotaro clicks his tongue and hands you the full ashtray.

“Fuck off. We don’t need anything else.” He spat back at you as he stared down into the blue abyss of his drink.

“I’ll be back with the check shortly.” Was all you managed to say, disregarding the strange exchange between the two.

You return to the kitchen and round up the numbers on the drink prices as Chieko peeks over your shoulder.

“How was it YN?” She asks, looking back out through the small window of the kitchen door.

You look back out on the table too. Kakyoin pointed to the cherry in Jotaro’s half empty drink, and he picked it out and handed it to the redhead.

“Bothersome.” You groan, finalizing their total. You place it in your apron pocket and head back out to service other tables.

-

You pass by Kujo’s table to deliver their check only to find the area completely abandoned.

“Oh god.” You sigh, thinking back onto how you thought Kujo’s friend would’ve been better at keeping him from dashing.

You clean up the glasses and notice a small stack of cash that was under one of them. It was a little over the initial amount but you were glad it was better than nothing.

You were about to toss out some napkins along with the straws and cherry stems when messy scribbles became evident to you.

It was a phone number.

-

Exam week had come to an end and as a treat, you decided to have lunch at a small cafe by your parents apartment.

The warm air from outside flushed out as the AC indoors cooled down your skin. You glance over at the long line already queued up at the registers and decide to go sit down to wait it out.

You make your way to the back of the cafe when a familiar cap and uniform catches your attention.

“Hey, you!” A deep voice called out in your direction.

It was Jotaro, sitting by himself in the far corner.

You blink at him and raise a brow as he nudges his head in a “come here” motion.

“YN right? Sit.”

“Yeah... it's YN. How did-”

“You had a name tag on your uniform dumbass. Sit.” He motions to the chair in front of him again.

You roll your eyes at his attitude yet still sit at his table away from the crowd.

“Need me for something? Like the bill you owe me?” You sigh as you lean back in your chair.

Jotaro’s face contorts as he stares down at the table cloth. “I left some money under my friends’ cup. God, I didn’t think you were actually blind.”

You laugh behind your palm.
“Dude, I’m kidding. I did find the money so I won’t call the cops on you.”

Jotaro tutted, and picked at a stain on the table.

“...You didn’t find anything else…”

You raise a brow as he continues to avoid eye contact. You could’ve sworn you saw the tips of his ears turn a little red.

You couldn’t resist as you proded on,
“Was there something else you left for me? Other than ash stains?”

He scoffs and glared at you in the eyes.

“The fucking number? Did you not see it? It was clearly on the napkin!”

Unable to resist a chuckle, the teen clenched his jaw and crossed his arms as you laughed at his outburst. His face now undeniably red.

“I couldn’t tell who it was from! You showed no interest in me and your friend seemed too school oriented for a date!” You hold your tummy as your laughter dies down.

“I honestly forgot about it too. I had to study for exams anyways so it’s not like I didn’t call on purpose.”

Jotaro taps his finger on his bicep in clear denial as a server comes to the table with a little plate. He places it between the two of you and shuffles off. You look at the tiny dish and see a cute little muffin with star shaped fruit pieces in the bread.

You found it endearing he would choose such a pastry, leaning your head on your palm you spoke to him once more.

“You still hate me Jotaro?”

“Tch.” He rose from his chair and pushed the seat back in with his foot.

His fingers push the tiny plate towards you as his other hand reaches for his wallet. He took out a few bills and plops them down with a thud on the tabletop and walks off.

“I want that call by tonight, YN.”

“We’ll see Kujo.”

You smile down at the small muffin, a nail picking out a star fruit. You chewed on it joyfully as you watched the teen make his way down the sidewalk from the window.
