Kuwabara once again found himself picking himself after being blown back by the result of a short clash. The good news was the fact that he was ending up on his ass less so it took less time for him to recover. The bad news was he was finding himself getting tired a lot more quickly with his base weapon reflecting his state. The usually fierce cracking yellow that was the signature glow of his blade was a lot more restrained with a light that would not be uncommon with a group of undisturbed fireflies in one of his trips with his first group of friends from his old school.
Despite that, the orange haired student found himself putting his right side towards his sparring partner, with his sword overhead, flaring as he poured more energy into it to both allow it to keep it’s form and a punk’s form of defiance. Unfortunately, the river that was was his power was finding less to run off thanks to his current teacher’s training method with, like a man-made dam that was inserted to siphon off of mother natures water. It was driving him up a wall!
But in all honesty thought, It was overshadowed by the fact he was fighting again or at-least having someone see him worth investing in...other than Kurama. With everyone else in his squad gone by being personally hand picked by creepy kingdoms in the demon world plus being kicked out the higher up spirit goons. The force that choose to step in by completely ignoring the problem his city had while trying to re-kill a demon Urameshi. While he got hand picked for the lovely life of monotonous stability while wasting away studying...Great. While he wasn’t looking for a fight to die in, Kuwabara still wanted to fight for the human world.
He did not want to rely on a group that did not see the negative failing of the demon world barrier as a reason for protecting the human world. But he really did not want his friends and family to be to be at the possible mercy of a group that saw it as a good idea to kill someone in his option payed for his first rebirth with doing jobs for them. Even the short spiky haired prick, Hiei wouldn't do so backstabbingly crappy and he was pretty sure that the midget would eat a kitten in front of a mother cat just to get off or to be able to sleep at night. But there was another reason. A more personal reason. Kuwabara wanted actual skill. He was sick of being the joke that led his opponents to believe that they were getting off easy.
Shizuru was right. Currently right now he can’t fight forever and needs to think of the future by making it to collage. As a way to thank her for the years she and his dad gave for him. But this was not the way he want his warrior legacy to end. To be the seat warmer for someone else to actually do something of value. He knew he had power and wanted to use it in a way that left him proud and his loved one safe. He knows if he put his mind to it, he can do both. He won’t let his potential go to waste, either of them.
Kuwabara tried to keep his mind off of the day that his school rival and brother left with their two other friends. The dark tournament was the one that came to his mind’s aid...to show him his run during it to crash him to reality with the black tape case tailing behind it. His tickle feeling only kicking in a rock, paper, scissors fight. With the hindsight that he would not have to chase his former opponents down if he just changed the shape of the tip of his sword to follow the jerks or change the body to a rope or a whip to try to take their weapon. Hell, while he wasn’t looking to kill most of them, Having most of the bigger threats you cut at walk away does not do you any favors.
His Extremely powerful new sword? The sword that can cut through dimensions? It would only kick in when his physic ability saw fit for it to be used, not by he himself. It was crazy! his own body did not fully trust him with his own weapon! Did it see him the same way Hiei Did?!? Well, He will prove both of them wrong. He swears on his life.
He didn’t exactly know how she and red-haired, sliver tongue and furred fox got his chain-smoking, aggressive sister to agree but it was a blessing he would be grateful for, even the times he was getting practice for picking up his teeth..most of the time. The other demons that Kurama brought over were good company…Well most of them. Plus getting to know more of the lovely Yukina was a pretty big plus too, especially with the world most poisonous gremlin with the biggest black lizard stick his ass gone. Hopefully, that jack-ass stays there forever. Double hopefully with someone finally kicking his corrosive ass teeth in and helps him remove that stick that probably married to his lower intestine at this rate. Bastard.
But it did cost him two of the greatest friends he did get to know…to the uncertainly of death or worst of demon world. With the other one-fifth probably going to kick a human orphan somewhere in an alley...or a cave.
“These damn cuffs are still choking out my energy from me.” Kuwabara said to himself, trying to get his barrings and focus back.
“Then stop wasting your energy showing off and approach me, you moron!”
“How-”
“I’m reading your lips, another skill you could learn if you didn’t waste your time standing over there or MINE when you choose to flirt with someone that doesn't even know what that word is!” Genkai said impatiently, leaving Kuwabara deflated while his blade reflected how deep the wound hit. The old master would not admit to him that the ice maiden was also ecstatic and joyful when she felt him coming to the compound. With only a black suited gremlin giving her more happiness. Judging by the scars and the results of her some of nightmares, She really needed some form of escape from them. Until she learns to properly fight them.
The dummy was improving by a big margin she admitted, as leaving the only other extremely powerful human untrained would be a choice as poor as leaving a child near a white van. His swings were getting a lot less wild with actually his weapon of choice changing it’s shape more to combat the different issues he would come up against. The cuffs that she gave Yusuke was working pretty well by making him work more with less by using what the cuff left him with. He wasn’t powerful enough for his strength alone to be the only factor he needs but to also let him swing and hit her with less of a danger of injuring her.
The orb she gave her successor put an end to her using her full force. While she can’t give Kuwabara something like that, she can give her time and refinement. She could do that much, He was worth it...not that she will tell him that. Don’t need his ego to be that inflated.
He was also getting faster and more stable with moving and standing.
His mentally when it came to on fighting was improving at a slower rate. The psychic side was developing fine. It usually preferred to kick in when she chose to use a partially nasty attack towards him with Kuwabara acting a lot more in sync with it to able to counter, getting in a good position, block or even evade. Him keeping his mind on the fight was still a big issue he needed to correct or he was going to get himself and his other friends killed by focusing more on protecting him. With getting him to fight a female that was not herself another big issue. While she did agree his stance on oppressing the weak, the woman thing was a thing of the old world he needed to leave behind. There was a reason not all values from that time was taken or left unchanged.
The training field that was being provided by Master Genkai with her property stating to show the results of the their sparing. The land itself had cuts from a sword of pure energy as one form of its new make over. It reminded the tall fighter of his sister’s first days as hair care worker when he used a mirror to look at the damage he felt. Shaking off the verbal attack, Kuwabara re-flared his sword and leaped forward, summoning a smaller sword under his foot to give his lunge an extra oomph by having his sword act more like a spring, face showing resolution to end the fight. The action got a small smirk from the teacher.
Although the added boost helped him closed the gap faster the aged fighter was able to evade the over head swing he had prepared for her by crouching and moving slighting to his left, lunging forward to punch him in the gut, a blue flash covering her fist for a second.
The orange haired youth saw this lowered his blade to where she was hitting at, getting there on time but the blow left him recoiling slightly but not staggered enough to able to be stunned. Genkai advanced again for a horizontal kick to his head which he dodged, the force of the kick reminding him of an ax of some ogre.
She also lunged ahead with the kick which allowed her to try to elbow his face. He saw this and blocked again, letting the sword touch his shoulder to try to get her closer to strike back deciding to spend some of his sword’s integrity and his energy by using the first to deflect while summoning a second one in his free hand to swipe at her again. Once again, while closer it gave the same result. Fighting smaller foes always tend to give him problems.
Taking another hop backwards, Genkai formed her hands into a shape that boy was mostly familiar with. The spirit energy gathered like a beast breathing in to gather strength for its natural weapon. The blue light was becoming more focused and fierce. The old teacher knew she would need something like a rifle round to bring the ox down. Kuwabara felt the energy being gathered and rush to her again, with his sword oddly at his back, ready to swing at any ball that came his way. A loud yell blasting though the young man voice.
“Old habits die hard.” thought Genkai.
But his “tickle feeling” was kicking in with some help. His gift was telling him that she was planing for the first shot to be a web and the second one to be the bite. “Sorry granny. I got different plans.” Kuwabara though while the first shot greeting him with a blue, shining embrace.
Blue smoke consumed his area for a short time before he rushed through the smoke, slightly affected by the head on collision. Stumbling slightly, he advanced to the teacher with his weapon still behind him, deciding to try something different.
Charging her second round, a patronizing voice left the old teacher.“THAT SWING YOU WANT TO TAKE AT ME WONT HAPPEN IF I SHOOT YOU DOWN OUT OF RANGE, KUWABARA! HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING, YOU JACKASS!”
With her warning falling on deft ears, Genkai prepared to fire her second attack, already lining up the shot..
“NOW!” Kuwabara yelled, piercing the ground with his foot, a sharp yellow flash leaving his leg as he pushed some energy down to the bottom of his foot. A shining force poked a small but extremely puncture that was right on Genkai’s ground-space.
Committing to the shot, the aged fighter pushed herself to the side of the underground spike.
Seeing what she would do in his head, the psychic first stopped his first strike, trying to take as much energy that hasn’t been spent back before shifting his foot straight like a spear’s tip. Throwing in new power with the old spirit energy, Kuwabara’s energy once again flashed yellow but with lighting circling his foot.
“SPIRIT LANCE!”
The man brought his leg back and then kicked sideways with the intention to bring a tree down with his foot as the ax. The energy that was usually focused in his hand flared out before shooting out like a fire hose when he made his arc, cutting forward like a sharp yellow whip.
“What!?!” Though the martial artist as the flaring crescent shot forward, breaking on contact like a ball that went through glass, getting a smirk from the dye haired fighter as it hit its target. Due to the cuff’s intervention the attack was vastly reduced in power but it still did its job. Knocking her out of the attack, she found herself flying back some distance to the trees behind her.
Strangely, when the attack came out, it felt easier for him to perform and he did not feel as strained. Like his body was giving him more to work with. His first spirit sword shined more healthy despite the cuffs.
A slight green hue was starting to form with the yellow glow. He soon found himself focusing on the very item. This power quickly reintroducing him to it. “Why was my power summoning my portal cuttin sword? What the hell do I need this for?” Kuwabara though.
Crackling electrify surrounded the teacher as she felt the after effects of his lance. She felt shards in her abdomen that was putting the finishing touches on her wounds as she was getting back up. Looking back at the young man who was marveling his sword, Genkai smirked. “Not bad.” She though as she decided to dig in her bag for one of her more drastic techniques. An old one from her good old days.
She found herself converting the energy of the after-effects of Kuwabara’s move. The shards and the electricity was going into her fist along with her own energy. Having a lot more to work with, the shot was able to build itself faster than usual.
Shining blue energy exploded from her fist as she fired at Kuwabara, The ball that left her was around twice her size, pulsing with electrical remnants as its shock leaving her mind as her rifle round monumentally disappeared before reappearing a short distance. A small speck of fear entered her thoughts when she found out it wasn’t a one time thing.
“His dimensional energy was in that attack?” She though as her mind wonder to the implantation of the effects, “KUWABARA!” Genkai screamed as the realization hit. The orb could appear next to him in an instance or worst... on him.
With the speed of the orb, he only saw a flash before it flashed out of sight again and reappeared right next to Kuwabara. Taking his focus off of his own weapon to look at the fast approaching threat spurned his dimensional sword to come out in it’s full radiant force. It’s shining light being its roar.
His sixth sense was telling him in it’s own way that he did not have enough time to get out of the way. While it did try to warn him, once again his focus was not on the attack itself simply because it was out of sight. Instead it chose to arm him with the means to counter with his life energy.
“It’s that drastic?” Kuwabara panicked. Was it going to end right here? Not even at the first opportunity to turn his reputation around or a chance to ask Yukina out. Freaking ridiculous!
“CUT THROUGH.” A resolute voice said to him. He didn’t know where it was coming from, It wasn't anything he ever heard but it felt apart of him. He did feel something like this when Seamen almost drowned him and his friends. It sounded so sure that the tool in his hand was all that he needed. “That sphere is not bound by the walls of this plane and neither is your sword… Cut through the walls.”
“Let’s go!” The man yelled as he took a great swing. He was going to hit that wall like it was the biggest Hiei pinata, which would not be hard to do due to the fact it did not assault his neck by making him look down.
The Sword shined as he cut through the ball. It did have the same energy but nowhere near the quaintly or Purity so it crumpled at the challenge. But so did the fabric of the space around it. It ate the explosion as it burrowed into the door, also consuming the shock-wave from it in his direction.
It was like a small makeshift door that forced the spirit bullet to a new detestation.
The area he cut gave him a view of a window with a wavy purple light gunk. Suspended in midair, the space torn window did not give him a view of the forest that was behind it, adding to the degree of the separation of the field of his world and the void beyond.
“Whoa. Freaky.” The realm cutter squeaked out. He went closer to see the light that reminded him of one of those wired lamps that his dad got imported from the US.
A soothing and familiar voice shot out to Kuwabara as he walked to close the distance between them, His red cherry red hair already giving the psychic an idea on who it was with the voice cluing him in. “Seems like I did not need to intervene after all, Kuwabara.”
