Chapter Text
(The scene of Mufasa struggling up the mountain plays as the pups’ watch, eyes glued to the screen.)
DeeDee. “Is the daddy lion gonna be okay?”
(Dylan and Dolly exchange an uncomfortable look.)
Dolly. “How about we just keep watching.”
(Suddenly Diesel pipes up.)
Diesel. “It’s gonna be okay girls. See? His brothers gonna help him!”
Dolly. “Hoo boy…”
(On screen.)
{Mufasa. “Scar. Brother. Help me!”}
(The pups all gasp as Scar suddenly lunges forward, sinking his claw into Mufasa’s legs.)
{Scar, (leaning in close) “Long, live, the king!”}
(The pups gasp even louder as they watch Scar rip his brother’s claws from the rocks, sending him falling into the stampede of wildebeests below!)
{Simba. “NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”}
(The pups stare in horror while Dylan and Dolly look at them in concern.)
Dolly. “Maybe we should have waited to watch this one…”
Delgado. “That did NOT just happen!”
Dizzy. “Is the daddy lion dead?”
DeeDee. “I don’t like this movie!”
Dylan. “Yeah, definitely should have waited.”
(The pups watch with bated breath as Simba watches the wildebeest run away.)
Dizzy. “Is the daddy lion okay?”
Dylan. “Uh...”
(Suddenly, a voice that is usually never as quiet as this, turns everyone’s attention back to the screen.)
Diesel. (whispering) “No…”
(The room grows silent as the pups watch Simba approach his father’s unmoving body.)
DeeDee. “Is he…?”
Dante. “……..Dang, that’s dark even for MY standards.”
(On screen)
{Simba. “Dad? Dad get up. We gotta go.” (He tries in vain to move his fathers head.)}
Dizzy. (now starting to get teary-eyed.) “He’s gonna get up, isn’t he?” (Dolly just pulls her close.)
Delgado. “If they do this, I swear I will RIOT!”
{Simba. (pulling on his dad’s ear.) “Dad. Get up!”}
Diesel. “Is the dad really dead?!”
(Simba’s cry for help snaps his attention back.)
DeeDee. (Looking up at Dylan.) “His daddy is dead, isn’t he?” (Dylan just nods.) DeeDee looks at the screen… And starts sniffling.
Dylan. “Oh, c’mon girls. It’s just a movie.”
Dizzy. “But it’s still sad!”
(As the scene plays on. More and more pups start sniffing and crying. Soon, some of them are howling with sadness.)
Dolly. “We definitely-”
Dylan. “Should’ve waited.”
Dante. (Through his own sniffing.) “Great job guys. Now I’m upset too!”
(The pups watch as Simba crawls under his fathers’ leg, attempting to give a hug that will never be returned.)
Diesel. (Now crying.) “I really don’t dig this…”
