"Are Sonic and Shadow the Hedgehog Dating?"
The newscaster on tv spoke with rehearsed shock. "The two rivals have been spotted numerous times being friendly and hanging out together. We tried to reach out for a statement, but they either didn’t respond or outright denied the claim." the man on tv continued before Shadow turned it off.
"Chaos they just don't want to leave us alone." he said rubbing his temples "It's like they only expect us to try to kill each other." "I mean you really did try to kill me quite often babe." Sonic said resting his hands on Shadow's shoulders. The ebony hedgehog chuckled softly. "So what? Are they expecting me to fight you in public some more to convince them we aren't together?" He pondered tilting his head up until he was looking at Sonic.
Sonic couldn't help but smile at his boyfriend when he sat like that. Planting a soft kiss on the ridge between his eyes. "How about we do just that, you and me, Station Square, no holding back." Sonic laughed. A genuine excitement audible in his voice as if he was ready to be absolutely destroyed by Shadow. "And I mean truly no holding back babe. I want you to throw me through windows if necessary. They gotta believe we still hate each other's guts."
"That is a good idea, plus it means we can get some frustration out as well" Shadow said smiling. "You, frustrated with me?" Sonic said faking surprise. "Yes. You're the absolute worst" Shadow laughed. Sonic clutched his chest and staggered back "You wound me darling." "Oh don't be so dramatic" Shadow responded by grabbing Sonic's hand and pulling him back upright, getting another laugh from Sonic as he composed himself again.
"Okay then, you go there and wait for me Shads" Sonic said kissing Shadow once again. Shadow disappeared in a flash of light and Sonic's hands were now holding nothing. He was still surprised at the fact his partner could vanish without having to say the words. Sonic quickly put on his shoes and bolted out the door.
Within a minute Sonic arrived at the center of Station Square. Already hearing Shadow monologue about how he was looking for him. Typical Shadow, never doing something halfheartedly he finally screamed loudly once he spotted the blue blur standing between the mass of people. Jumping down from the ledge he was standing on, he landed a few feet away from Sonic. The crowd scattered and hid behind cover as they knew this was gonna be a big fight.
"So, you've finally come to die Sonic?" Shadow growled. "First of all, bold of you to assume you can kill me. Second, I’ve beaten you before Shadow. What makes this different?" Sonic quipped, getting ready for whatever Shadow had in store for him. "Cause this time I’m making sure you don't get up again, Hedgehog." Shadow snarled but before he could get his next sentence out he felt Sonic's foot make impact with his stomach.
Sonic had rushed his first attack, leaving himself open for Shadow to grab him by the ankle and whipping Sonic around against a nearby pillar. The concrete cracking under the stress of the impact and leaving Sonic groaning. "Good try Faker. But you're gonna have to try harder." Shadow laughed as he launched into another attack. This being a kick to Sonics abdomen as well. Sending the blue hedgehog flying through a newspaper stand.
The bystanders quickly scrambling to find another hiding spot as this one had just been reduced to splinters and loose pages of various newspapers. Before the dust had settled however Sonic came bounding through the wreckage to smash into Shadow at full speed once again. Sending him flying through tables and chairs belonging to a nearby bistro. Shadow actually launched some energy through his skates when Sonic hit him to give himself more velocity. Just to sell the spectacle even more.
Before Shadow even came to rest against the wall behind him. Sonic was already getting closer. The ebony hedgehog quickly got on his feet. Skating towards Sonic and grabbing him by the upper leg. Spinning around rapidly to whip Sonic across the plaza once again. This time Sonic went straight through the window of a nearby store. His landing only slightly dampened by the mannequins and the few clothing racks he smashed through.
Sonic tried to escape through the way he came in but was met with another skate to the stomach as Shadow smashed his way in. This sending Sonic deeper into the clothing store with a tumble. Shadow grabbed a pair of jeans and pulled it taught across Sonic's neck. Pulling him up against his own chest he whispered "I think they believe this enough. Run and I'll follow you out of here." Sonic nodded while thrashing wildly against the denim holding him in place.
Finally Sonic managed to grab Shadow's wrist and toss him over his shoulder. Sending Shadow through a display case and speeding out of the store. Shadow taking a moment to scan the area. Seeing some of the bystanders with their phones out he quickly chased Sonic. "Come back here you coward!" He yelled as he leaped through the window frame they entered from. Quickly speeding after the blue blur in the distance. Leaving the scene of their destruction in their wake.
Catching up to Sonic he could hear him laughing. Shadow always loved hearing that genuine excited laugh coming from his partner. Finally running side by side, he could see the happy expression on the Blue Hedgehog. "We gotta do that more often. That was SO much fun." Sonic laughed. Shadow nodded in agreement. He had to admit. He enjoyed throwing Sonic, and himself, around like a ragdoll a lot more than he had expected.
Before long they were far out of the city and away from prying eyes. Ending their little chase near a seaside cliff. Sunset was nearing and they both decided to take a seat along the edge. Staring into the distance as the sun lowered itself along the horizon. Sonic sighed, tearing Shadow's attention from the sight in front of them back towards his partner. "What's wrong darling?" Shadow asked tenderly.
It took a moment before Sonic replied. "You ever think we can tell the world we're together? Cause while this is a lot of fun, I do hope that one day we don't have to perform this ritual just to keep the media at bay." Shadow shuffled closer to Sonic and put his arm around his waist. "Someday Soon." Shadow said calmly, kissing his partner on the cheek. "Whenever you want to, I'll be ready." He continued pulling Sonic even closer. The azure hedgehog leaning his head onto Shadow's shoulder. "Thank you." He sighed.
They sat there until the sun fell below the horizon at which they moved from the edge to lay down in the grass and stare up at the sky. Taking in the beauty of the nights sky. Stars and satellites twinkling in the inky darkness above them. Sonic even pointing out when the ARK came over. Before the night got too cold however, Shadow teleported them back to the apartment. Both hedgehogs falling a few inches before landing in the bed.
Sonic nuzzling up against Shadow, they cuddle closer together.
"I love you so much." Sonic whispered.
"Love you so much more." Shadow replied.
