Love Games!

Summary:

As he reached her, she turned and met his gaze. “I’ve told you, Aaron, no I will not leave the cabin to give you and Katelyn alone time!”

“Isn’t that curious? What is my brother getting up to?” Andrew sighed. “Fortunately, I am far too gay for that.”

Notes:

listen, it's almost certainly trash, but isn't that just this whole series? neil is less feral and more... domesticated ig? anyway, if this receives no kudos i understand, i will do better next time, this is on me.

Work Text:

Andrew and Neil had been caught in compromising positions four separate times over the last two days.

It wasn’t entirely unexpected, when you put a bunch of teenagers in a small camp together with no parents and very little supervision, but it was getting to a ridiculous level now. Dan and Matt, who had been together since their second summer at Camp Campbell, had been caught in compromising positions four separate times in the last two years, and Aaron and Katelyn who were historically all over each other had never been caught in compromising positions.

Betsy and Abby finally came to a decision: they needed to do something about it. Betsy suggested sitting them down and explaining to them the importance and necessity for safe sex. Abby suggested a disco, which probably wouldn’t solve the problem, but which would give everyone a break from the constantly walking in on them. They resolved to get a third opinion on it, but the only other person who could give an opinion was Wymack, and so the disco was finally arranged.

Andrew was delighted. Neil was a pretty worthwhile distraction at the best of times, but knowing where everyone would be at one time, leaving them hours of time in which they could be alone in their tent and caught up in each other…

Unfortunately, that plan went out the window the minute Kevin saw Jean and Jeremy walking into the mess hall together and immediately turned bright red.

“We have to, Drew,” said Neil as he clutched onto Andrew’s arm and truly, his hands were tied.

Sometimes, it hit him all at once that he was incredibly gay.

So as the Flower Scouts filed in after the Wood Scouts, Andrew slid one arm around Neil’s waist and scanned the hall for somebody who would fit his purposes perfectly. The perfect girl appeared from behind Katelyn and Marissa quite suddenly. Andrew supposed that she was objectively pretty, though he was far too gay to see what other guys might see in her. From the looks sent her way by Seth and Riko, she was certainly appealing enough.

“Collect your child,” said Andrew, squeezing at Neil’s waist before, regrettably, letting go and approaching her.

She eyed him for a moment. “Oh. Andrew.”

“You have a name?”

“Thea.” She looked him up and down. “You’re gay?”

“Incredibly.” Andrew felt his face light up in the way it only did for one person as he turned to point him out. “That’s my boyfriend, Neil. He’s the prettiest person at Camp Camp.”

“That’s real sweet.” She pursed her lips. “So what’re you doing over here instead of with him?”

“Well, you see the tall guy next to him?” She nodded. “Well, he is interested in Jeremy Knox from the Wood Scouts, but Jeremy is in a relationship with Jean Valjean from what we can tell. So we were hoping that you could dance and flirt with him either to get him over the sunshine child or to make him jealous. Whichever happens first.”

“You’re very gay,” she sighed, “no idea how to woo a girl.”

“I don’t need to,” said Andrew smugly, “I’m already dating the prettiest boy at Camp Camp.”

Thea chuckled, and Neil and Kevin finally approached. Andrew wrapped two arms around his waist, clinging on tightly.

“I missed you,” he mumbled.

Kevin rolled his eyes. “You’ve been apart for less than five minutes.”

Neil ignored him. “I missed you too.”

“Are they always like that?” Kevin sent Thea a quick glance, then his gaze returned to where Jeremy and Jean were stood by the food table feeding each other.

“They never stop.”

Thea shuffled closer, swinging one arm over his shoulders. “I hear I’m supposed to be making one of them jealous.”

“Only if you want to.” He turned to Neil, as though to get his opinion, but found that he was nowhere to be found. “Oh, for fuck sake.”

“For what it’s worth,” said Thea lightly, “it’s probably safer for your eyes that you aren’t seeing them right now.”

Kevin nodded slowly. “You might have a point. God, they’re so all over each other. I bet they’re fucking right now.”

**

Andrew trailed the tip of his finger down the bridge of Neil’s nose. Even now, weeks into the camp, he couldn’t believe that Neil, that this beautiful boy in front of him, was his. Neil looked back at him with eyes that Andrew would never tire of, eyes full of nothing but calm and serenity, and Andrew was filled with a strange sense of pride that Neil could relax in his presence.

“I love you,” he said quietly.

Neil blinked slowly, perfectly at peace, then he shuffled closer until their shoulders were pressed together.

“I love you too.”

Andrew leaned up to kiss at his jawline a few times, then rested back on his back. “Do you know any?”

“Yeah.” Neil pointed to a random cluster of stars. “That one is, er… The Little Twin. Also known as Aaron. Most people hate that constellation. And, uh, that one there is the Theatre Kid but most people call it Dan. She kind of runs the sky. And that one’s Kevin, it’s a bit of an asshole but we all love it-!”

Andrew lunged over, cupping Neil’s face in one hand and kissing him deeply.

“I love you,” he said again. “I love you, I love you, I love you.”

When the two entered the hall again, Thea seemed to be locked in a romantic embrace with another Flower Scout, whilst Kevin was holding hands with both Jeremy and Jean. Neil squeezed at Andrew’s hand.

“What the fuck happened there?”

Andrew tilted his head, humming. “Who fucking knows?” He turned his head, kissing Neil’s cheek. “Back to the tent?”

“Yeah,” nodded Neil, “back to the tent.”

“Use protection!”

Andrew was so lost in Neil’s eyes that he couldn’t have told you who said it if he tried.
