Chapter Text

Prologue

“You know, of all the hero training we’ve done over the years I gotta say, I really do enjoy just the classic one on one battles.” The red head said in the stands.

“You’re only saying that because for some fucked up reason you like fighting Bakugou,” the blonde replied next to him.

“I meannnnn, that is true. But what can I say man?! Every time we battle train together he always helps me work on what I need to most!”

“Oh yea, he’s a really considerate guy,” the purple one rolled his eyes waiting for the fight to start. He looked down at the three teachers sitting in the rows below them with their clipboards. Odd that today is treated so professionally, we’re just fighting, he thought.

“Exactly! See! Shinso gets it!”

“Kirishima I’m pretty sure that was sarcasm…” the blonde, Kaminari trailed off but it was too late, Kirishima had moved on and was talking to Mina on his other side.

“Hey do you guys know who Bakugou is even fighting?” Uraraka said behind them and the boys shrugged their shoulders.

Midoriya began counting his classmates around him quietly, “we’re all here?”

“Then who…”

“Sensei?” Shinso made his way over the chairs and crouched by his teachers side.

“What is it?” Aizawa asked closing his folder before Shinso could get a peak of the scores.

“Who is Bakugou fighting? We’re all here and accounted for. Also why is Present Mic and All Might here?”

“Hey kid.”

“Hey! I’m just here to commentate!”

“Shut up. I told you we were having guests-“

“Yea…All Might and Present Mic?” Shinso interrupted.

“Let me finish,” Aizawa was tired, he’d spent all day here or grading papers, he just wanted to go home and sleep for Pete’s sake. “I never specified who the guests were. Now go sit back down I have to watch this.”

Class 3-A had spent half the day at the training gym battling each other. They’d begun with warm ups before the two blonde pro heroes had turned up and Aizawa sent the first two into the grounds to begin the battles.

He told them they would each be fighting at the start of the term and the end, same partner, to see how far they had improved. The point wasn’t to win, it was to make each other look as good as possible, show off what they could do. Everyone had been through so far, but with an odd number of students there was one who hadn’t been called up yet.

Bakugou Katsuki had spent the whole afternoon watching his classmates do what he wanted to. Fight. He was restless in his seat, pacing, doing push ups just to get some goddamn energy out when Aizawa had walked up to him and said it was his turn.

Now Bakugou waited eagerly at one end of the arena. Concrete pillars littered the arena in front of him, he couldn’t see his opponent but he knew he was going to kick their ass.

In the stands, nobody could see either of them, the screens had been turned off until the battle began. When the bell went, it started to rain softly over the open roofed stadium. Small dark clouds forming above them and then suddenly a crack of thunder and a spark of lightning in the distance.

“Let’s go.” Bakugou chucked lowly to himself, blasts already popping from his hands as he jumped up to the top of a pillar.

On the screen the class saw him move to the high advantage point. Then the cameras moved to his opponent, they focused on the metal rods being dragged along the floor. Black boots walking through the grounds. It changed again to behind Bakugou’s shoulder as he watched the figure walk through the pillars.

He didn’t recognise them, at first he though it was Sero, a similar shaped helmet but gold instead of orange. A white and black costume, simple, no defining details that he could see from this far away.

“Wait who the hell is that?!” Kaminari asked.

“They don’t seem to be a member of our class. Perhaps a guest from 3-B?” The class president Iida suggested.

Shinso smiled and let out a huff of laughter as he watched the screen. “That’s no hero course student.”

“You know them Shinso?” Tokoyami asked, Dark Shadow perked on his shoulder.

“Yea, this isn’t going to be a quick one. And I don’t know why she’s here so don’t ask.” He glared at Kaminari and Midoriya, both with their mouths already open as he answered their question for them.

Bakugou jumped from pillar to pillar to get the best position for a surprise attack on his opponent. It didn’t matter that he didn’t know who they were. He was just here to fuck shit up and win.

He jumped down for a full blow attack to their back but before he struck them with a blast one of the rods stopped his hands and a foot to his chest had him flying backwards. The rain started to get heavier but his opponent stayed in their position as lightning struck between the two.
