Chapter 1: The First Kiss

Chapter Text

The first time Nines kissed Gavin, he doesn’t want to stop.

A subtle tingling sat in his thirium pump and he was sure that this is what euphoria felt like. It was as if he were floating, and Gavin’s lips are the thing that anchored him down to the ground. He clutched the shorter man’s shoulders, as if the bliss he felt would slip through his fingers if he didn’t.

Their lips moved with a steady rhythm, slotting against each other nearly-perfectly. Gavin’s own against his are hot. Nines wanted to keep chasing the warmth. The sensation was a stark contrast to the cold, still air of the car around them.

The chase of lips against lips is chaste and gentle, something Nines wouldn’t have expected to have felt so nice. Gavin’s hands moved to clutch at his jacket, wrinkling the crisp, white fabric beneath his fingertips. While this usually would be a matter of concern, the android cannot bring himself to care.

The urge to breathe became too great for both of them: Gavin needed to breathe or he’d pass out and Nines was on the verge of overheating. They pulled pulled away, but rested their foreheads against one another's. Several notifications that the android had brushed off made themselves noticed on his HUD: the analysis of Gavin’s saliva, his internal temperature, the increase in software instability.

A quick scan of Gavin showed that his blood oxygen levels were at 94% but quickly rising. His internal temperature was at 98.9 degrees Fahrenheit.

Huffs of light steam escaped from Nines's mouth and his internal temperate slowly lowered. Gavin watched the steam leave his mouth with a slight interest. He almost looked hungry under the android's gaze. Something in him tingled again.

Nines's LED was spinning yellow, reflecting off the windshield. He knew he had to go soon, otherwise Connor and Hank would be suspicious as to why Gavin's car was sitting in front of the house for so long. That was, if they had noticed when it first pulled up on the road in front of it.

Gavin kept his hands on Nines’s jacket, his expression slowly melting into a smile that was new to Nines. He had seen a smile similar to this when the man was taking care of his cats or when he talked to his plants as he watered them. Although, this one was much softer. A small notification popped up in the top right corner of his vision.

Gavin Reed^^^

Lover🔓

With hesitation, Nines pulled away completely and two pairs of arms retreat back to their owners. Gavin seemed bashful: a rare sight. However, Nines was enjoying how the expression looked on him. A faint blush creeped onto the human's cheeks. He looked lovely.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Nines," Gavin murmured with dazed eyes.

"Good night, detective."

Nines stepped out of the car slowly, unsure if what he just experienced was real.
