Work Text:

Pang was shivering.

They were cuddling. It was a warm morning. Why was Pang shivering, then?

They'd watched a movie the previous night. Pang had been extra tired then; he usually had the ability to stay up till two, maybe even three. It was usually Wave that settled on his shoulder at midnight and ended up being wrapped in a warm embrace, tucked in a soft blanket when he woke up.

Last night, Pang wanted to fall asleep an hour before midnight. He didn't think much about it, because they did have a hard day.

That night had been cold and incredibly comfortable. Maybe Pang was just way too cozy to stay awake.

And then, with a gentle thud, he'd felt Pang's head fall on his shoulder. His hair was all over his face and he had a slight pout. Wave used to think that Pang pouted way too much for his own good, but he realised that that was probably just what his face was like.

He loved seeing Pang like this. His cheeks were squeezed and Wave was almost going to laugh, because he looked so adorable.

This time, he did the honours. He wrapped him up in a blanket, pulling him towards himself. He placed a kiss on his forehead and ruffled his hair, then hugged him tightly.

"Good night."

And now, when he had woken up, Pang was shivering.

He had somehow settled into the crook of Pang's neck and the blanket was now around him. Pang never let himself be taken care of. It was unfair. Wave wanted to take care of him.

He blinked his eyes open, and looked up at Pang, who looked more tired than he had ever seen him.

"Pang?"

He looked down and pressed a kiss on his nose.

"You're awake!" He grinned.

He rolled his eyes fondly. "I'm sleep talking."

"Who knew you could say something that isn't serious?" He'd done that multiple times, and yet Pang always seemed excited to hear Wave utter something sarcastically.

"If that's a joke, you must laugh at anything."

"Wave, you do know me, right?"

"Why are you shivering?" He asked, changing the topic.

"Oh, is it uncomfortable for you?"

Pang was an idiot. He was in love with an idiot.

"Are you feeling cold?"

He took a moment to respond. "Aww, Wave, the emotionless wizard does have some emotions!"

He couldn't help but crack a smile at that.

"Answer my question," he said, not being able to return to the stone face.

"Yeah, I guess. I'm just a little cold."

"Who told you to put the blanket back on me?"

"Come on, Wave, you were looking cute, I wanted to wrap you up."

"Are you sick?" He asked, trying to make his voice sound only half as worried as he was.

Pang's face dropped. "I don't know."

Wave placed the back side of his palm on his forehead. It was definitely warmer than usual.

He couldn't help but plant a kiss on his forehead.

"Wait here. I'll get the thermometer."

It was relatively easy to find, despite it being Pang's dormitory. He wasn't the best at keeping things organized, but it was a mess in which you could find things easily. He walked back to the bed.

Pang was annoying, to say the least. He would speak when the thermometer was in his mouth and complain all along.

When a minute was up, he checked the reading and saw that he did, indeed, have a fever.

When Wave stood up to get the medicine and water, Pang hugged him from behind, telling him not to leave.

"I want to hug you."

"Germs. Get away from me."

Pang buried his face into his lower back.

Wave chuckled and turned around. "I'm coming. Give me a second."

He took the ibuprofen and water which he then gave to Pang.

"Wave, you're so cute," He said, gazing at him. "You're taking care of me."

He felt his face become warm but gave him the medicine.

He sat on the bed, next to him. Pang swallowed the medicine and rested his head on Wave's shoulder.

"So," he placed his arm behind him, on his shoulder, "are you better now?"

He looked up at him, pouting. "Hm. I guess."

He sneezed. Liar.

"Ew."

"Hey! Sneezing is part of human nature!"

"Still disgusting."

"Then stop hugging me."

He looked at his other arm. It had found its way on Pang.

"No."

He laughed.

"Don't you have to do your work?"

"I have to take care of a sick person."

"Aww, am I that important?"

"Shut up. I'll go-"

"No, no, no! I'll keep quiet."

Wave heaved out a small chuckle. Pang meant the world to him and was worth more than the world combined; he really was stupid.

And yet, here he was, cuddling him.

He came to know that they had drifted away when he woke up during the evening.

It had been a lazy day. They'd done nothing but hug and sleep that day. They hadn't even eaten.

The first thing that he noticed when he woke up again, though was the fact that there was no warm weight on him, enveloping him tightly. Instead, he could feel the gentle, constant brush of Pang's finger on his forehead.

"Good evening, love," Pang said, drowsily. He still seemed to have the tired, feverish sound.

"Who are you calling love?"

"You." He stuck his tongue out and lied down on his stomach, his cheeks being squished. Wave thought that he looked incredibly endearing.

He pressed a kiss into Pang's hair. Pang automatically pulled him towards himself and hugged him. He threaded his fingers through his hair and sighed contentedly. He didn't want to do anything but this.

Pang let out another sneeze, which snapped him from his thoughts. Right. He had a fever.

"One second, Pang," he said, in the softest voice he could ever muster, "I want to make us food."

"No," he shook his head.

"Pang," he said again, "let me go."

Pang looked up at him, pouting, with his hair completely ruffled and his eyes barely being seen. Wave shook his head.

"Fine. Only for ten minutes."

He chuckled. "Yeah, yeah."

Pang was still not letting him go, though. He gently untangled his hands and walked towards the kitchen, trying to stop blushing.

He made some warm soup and honey toast. Pang loved honey for some reason, and it seemed to fit him. The food was light, but they had dinner to make up for it, which was mostly heavy takeout.

He brought the tray to their bed, where Pang had already sat up, looking like a kitten, although Pang was the one who argued that Wave looked like one.

"Food!" He grinned.

He rolled his eyes and sat next to him. He placed the tray on the side-table temporarily and covered Pang with the fuzzy blanket they usually cuddled under. He also ruffled his hair for good measure.

From the bowl, he took a spoonful of soup and blew on it. After a while, he brought it near Pang's mouth. He had made sure that he added medicinal herbs that were good for a fever, so that it would heal Pang too.

Pang, of course, beamed, and drank the soup. They took alternate turns drinking the soup, and then he gave Pang the toast.

"Wave," Pang said, smiling while chewing on the toast.

"Hmm?"

"Nevermind."

"Hm?"

"It's just- you're beautiful."

Wave blushed. "Ew. Gross." He leaned on Pang to hide his face. He couldn't help the smile that grew on his face.

Pang ate his bread while grinning cheekily, Wave could tell, for some time. Pang moved and wrapped him in a warm hug.

He engulfed him in the hug, as if it was Wave who was sick, and not the other way around. He rested his head on Wave's, and wrapped the two of them in the blanket. It was one of the best feelings in the world and he loved it when Pang did that.

His hands wriggled out of the blanket and he wrapped them around his neck.

Wave pressed a gentle kiss to his lips and they bumped their heads together.

"I love you."

"Oh, who's the more disgusting one here?" Pang laughed. "But I love you too."
