Things We Say: Sukka

Summary:

I've done quite a few Tumblr quote prompts recently, and kind of needed them all in one spot for organization purposes. So, here are all the prompts done that revolve around Sukka.

Chapters are unrelated, and some deviate from the ATLA universe. The quote that had to be used is the title of the chapter!

Notes:

Chapter 1: "Say That Again?"

Chapter Text

Her voice rang like beautiful chimes in his ears, and he couldn’t take his eyes off her lips. They spoke words with confidence, he held onto every word she said, especially when she talked about battle strategy or managing the Kyoshi warriors.

And Suki was doing just that, walking Sokka through the game plan for her team for the next few weeks, combing through the itinerary and making sure that everything would go according to plan. It was an activity the two liked to do after dinner, plan for their days ahead, to strategize.

But this evening, all Sokka could think about was Suki’s voice and her lips. She’d be gone for almost a month, so he needed to soak in every syllable she spoke and memorize the melody of her speech.

They’d write letters to each other, sure, but Sokka loved Suki’s voice, and that was something they couldn’t convey on parchment.

Spirits, he was going to miss her. Even if it was only a month.

She must’ve asked him a question, because she punched his arm and pulled him out of his daze. “Sokka!”

He shook off the remains of his daydreams and asked, “Sorry, Suki. Could you say that again?”

Suki gave an exasperated sigh. “Sokka,” she began, a bit patronizing. “I need your opinion on if I stationed my warriors correctly for mission 5D!”

The warrior smiled at his girlfriend and apologized. “Sorry, babe. I think what you have set up right now will be perfect. You positioned the warriors in spots where their strengths will show.”

Suki nodded in approval, but she asked him, “Have you actually been listening to me? You’ve got this weird look on your face.”

Sokka smiled. “Oh no I was listening. I know better than to not.”

“Then what’s with the look?”

“I just like hearing your voice. I’m gonna miss it for the next 30 days.”

Suki gave him a look of affection, then leaned over the table to kiss him. When they parted, she said, “I promise to try and come home soon. 28 days at the most.”

He made a counteroffer. “Make it 25."

“Quite the challenge you’re giving my warriors, Councilman,” she jabbed, smirking. “But I accept.”
