Work Text:
You had never really been interested in your studies. You’d prefer drawing in your sketchbook any day. The swirls and bright colors were your way of self-expression, releasing thoughts and emotions through the comfort of ink and paper.
Today was no exception. There you were in the back row of the classroom, glancing out the window with a colored pencil at hand. However, from time to time, you would converse with your seatmate, Dowoon, about the homework and other outside activities. Yet, you always found yourself getting lost in your art once again.
You heard the laughter of a familiar boy; your eyes shifted from the window to the classroom door. Many others accompanied him, but he was the only one you saw. You couldn’t quite put your finger on why you had such a fascination with the class president or when it started. All you knew was that one day you just started appreciating him more.
Shaking his head to something one of his friends said, Sungjin got pulled aside by the teacher. With curiosity, you watched the two exchange a few words. With a simple nod, he went to the art supplies taking out the containers placing them on the front desk, a pep in his step.
Ms. Yin’s then walked to the front of the class with a smile on her face. “Good morning, class. Today I wanted to do something a little different.” She talked about beauty and how it was in the eye of the beholder. Captivated by the teacher's words, you put your sketchbook down, listening intently.
“So the objective, draw something you find beautiful and turn it in by the end of class.” Ms. Yin, clapped her hands together. “The colored pencils are at the front desk.” With that, she retreated back to her desk. Students talked amongst themselves, clearly intrigued about the project.
“What are you drawing?” She felt a tap on her shoulder, finding Dowoon eyeing her questionably.
“Hmm. I don’t know.” You smiled, unknowingly glancing at Sungjin’s figure . Your table mate, Dowoon followed your gaze, chuckling lightly.
“I have a hunch you’ll figure it out.”

Everyone was working on their piece, some already done. Yet there you were scratching your head as to what to do with the
Starting up another sketch, you sighed. The led from your pencil had broken. Getting out of your seat, you went to the front of the class heading to the mighty pencil sharpener. About an arm's reach from the sharpener, you felt a presence beside you.
“Hey, Y/n,” Sungjin spoke. Shocked from his voice you slowly turned around, stumbling a bit in the process. You looked shyly into his eyes. They were the most beautiful eyes you had ever seen, sparkling profusely amid the bright classroom. It was like staring into a galaxy containing the shiniest of stars.
“Uh y/n you there?” He waved a hand in front of your face.
“Uh... yes!”
Snapping out of your thoughts, you looked at Sungjin in horror. Did I just-, you mentally cried, pulling yourself together you tried to plaster a sincere smile. “What was that?”
“Hmm, I said the pencil sharpener is broken.”
“Oh... your eyes widened, fumbling awkwardly with the pencil in your hand.”
“Don’t worry, you can borrow mine.” He smiled, grabbing the small green sharpener he had on his overly neat desk. “Here”
“Uh, thank you very much.” You bowed, grabbing the sharpener from his hands, brushing your fingers in the process. Feeling a blush down paint your cheeks, your gaze flickered once more, meeting his overly kind smile and sparkly eyes.

Suddenly forgetting about the project, you began to draw with only one thought fresh in your mind.
Beautiful eyes, sparkly dark brown orbs that made your heart skip a beat.
——
“Ok, class, the bell is going to ring in five minutes.” Start cleaning up. Sungjin will collect your papers. Also, make sure your real names are on your papers. Please refrain from using cartoon names” She glared at a student with glasses.
“Ms. Yin, that was one timeee.” The kid whined, making the teacher shake her head in disapproval.
“So what did you end up drawing?” Dowoon peeked over your shoulder, an audible gasp leaving his mouth. Darting your eyes to your paper, you smiled.
“It’s just a galaxy,” you sheepishly said, still in your light daze of the class president's beautiful eyes.
“Ah, I see that.” He smiled. “It’s beautiful. My drawing is ass compared to yours.” He pouted, showing a poorly drawn dog... or at least you thought it was a dog.
“Hey, it’s not that bad.” Your conversation was cut short when the Sungjin made his way to your row, collecting each of the student's papers, yours being the last one.
“I see you put your sharpened pencils to good use.” Sungjin smiled, grabbing your drawn paper. “You can thank me later” he joked.
Laughing lightly, his eyebrows furrowed slightly as he looked a little closer. “Those eyes seem oddly familiar,” he spoke.
Feeling your ears tinge red, you pressed your lips together. “Ahaha, it must be a coincidence.”
With a sweet smile, he placed your paper with the rest of the pile.
“I like your drawings” he complimented before walking back to the front of the room.
Drawings?
You looked down to your desk, seeing your sketchbook was wide open. And what did you have in your sketchbook? Well, it was none other than the owner of those dazzling eyes, drawn in all types of angles and expressions. Sinking into your chair in utter embarrassment, the bell rang, interrupting your pity party.
Trying to leave discreetly, you felt a hand tap your shoulder, stopping your mission.
“Can we talk?”
———
Letting your legs swing off the bench, you braced yourself for what was to come.
“So...” he cut the silence in the air.
“You're a great artist.”
“About that-“ You were about to explain everything as a misunderstanding but got interrupted by a paper being handed to you
Tilting your head in confusion, you grabbed it, seeing a stick figure with drawn with two lines as the hair, a book in its hand. Confused, your eyes scrolled down, finding what looked to be a poem.
I try to start a conversation
To figure out how you feel
Trying to pass it off as a joke
But why don’t you know?
I’m only looking at you
I’m serious
My eyes say that I like you
Why don’t you feel it?
My face is so obvious
- For y/n
Meeting the end of the paper, your eyes widened. That was your name. Was this meant for you, you thought.
Noticing your confused gaze, he cleared his throat .
“I might not be a good drawer, but I’m pretty confident in expressing myself through lyrics.” Fumbling with his sleeve, he took a deep breath.
“I like you.” He rubbed his nape. “I guess seeing your drawings gave me the confidence I needed to confess.”
“Huh...” your eyes widened in disbelief; seconds later, a smile blessing your features.
“Well, that was unexpected. You laugh. I literally thought you were going to sue me or something.” Your eyes crinkling from the wide smile, you sucked in some air. “Even though i’ve made it extremely obvious...” you held back a laugh... “I like you too”
Peering over at you, he flashed a beautiful grin, a giggle leaving his mouth “you want to know something he began “the pencil sharpener wasn’t broken” I just wanted an excuse to talk to you!” Shaking his head profusely, his eyes fixated on yours once more.
“Do you want to go out with me, sometime?”
Holding in a squeal, you fished in your pocket, Grabbing a blue-colored pen. Gently taking his hand, you wrote your answer ( YES!!), two tiny hearts drawn in as well.
“Look at your hand.” You smiled, catching his grin.
