Gemstone Eyes

Summary:

"Sleepy?"

"Mhm. It's hard to sleep when you're not around."

Notes:

I don't know why and how Hinata is so shipable, but he just is. So, here we have another rare pair, Nohebi's Kuguri Naoyasu.

PS. Hinata and Kageyama didn't meet in Middle School.

I hope you all like it!

Work Text:

Moving to Miyagi is a change for Hinata, and he wasn't sure how to feel about it. His maternal grandmother's health was failing her, and so he moved to Miyagi at her request. His sister and parents stayed in Tokyo.

Tokyo is a bustling city, and while he loved his hometown, Miyagi gave him the peace that he so desperately needed. But something was missing.

At first, he didn't know what was missing. But days passed and he still couldn't sleep. It wasn't until he had a call that he realized exactly what was absent.

The presence of a sapphire-eyed boy.

He walked into Karasuno with a blank face.  Just as he finished changing his shoes, his phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Hey, little cousin. How's Miyagi?" A deep voice said across the phone, and Hinata immediately knew who it was. His cousin, Daishou Suguru, heir to the Snake Bite industries.

"It's fine, Nii-san. Quiet, peaceful." Hinata answered, taking a deep breath to hide his yawn.

"Good-Oh he just walked passed me. Jesus he looks rough. Are you having trouble sleeping too?" Daishou asked, making Hinata's heart skip a beat in guilt.

"...yeah. It's hard. I'm so used to having him around. Is he with you in the club?" Hinata replied as he sat down on his desk, waiting for class to begin. It's been a week since high school began, and club activities were set to begin soon. He already knew which club he wanted to join, but it didn't mean that he'd be accepted.

"Yeah, he is. How about you? Volleyball too?"

"Yeah. Oh. teacher's here."

"Okay."

"Bye."

Daishou called him again during lunchtime, complaining.

"Why are you and him so similar?!" Daishou whined.

"We grew up together, Nii-san. What did you expect?" Hinata said, earning him a groan from his cousin.

"You grew up with me too. How come you're not like me?"

"Quit whining, Nii-san. And I don't want to be like you. And before you ask why, look at yourself in the mirror." Hinata stated, earning him yet another whine.

Jesus Christ, his cousin is very whiney.

"Okay fair but like-" Hinata dropped the call when the bell rang, not even saying goodbye. He knew his phone would be blown up with complaints from Daishou, but he didn't care much. He was used to it. He sat back down on his desk, beside a shy, blonde.

"H-hello, Hinata."

"Hello, Yachi."

Hinata noticed Yachi's shiver at the coldness of his voice, but honestly, he didn't care much. He wasn't here to make friends. He was here to finish the year as fast as he can, so he can go back to Tokyo.

He can only hope that the year passes by quick.

The gym was loud when he walked in, the sound of volleyballs hitting the linoleum floor echoing across the walls. He stood and waited for someone to notice him, feeling too lazy to speak up. It took the people in the gym about five minutes to notice him, and the one he assumed to be the Captain jogged towards him.

"Hello, are you here for tryouts?" the male asked, and Hinata nodded his head. "Okay, what's your name and position?"

"Hinata Shouyou, and any."

"Very well, let's test you out. I'm Sawamura Daichi, the captain."

Hinata nodded, and they tested them out. He left the team impressed, despite the fact that his silence unnerved them. He was the first of the first years to join.

If anyone was asked to describe Hinata Shouyou, their minds would automatically go to the word ice.

Hinata Shouyou is the coldest person in Karasuno.

In fact, if people were being honest, he's probably the coldest person in the entirety of Miyagi.

He doesn't talk much. Only when he's asked or when it's necessary. No one in Karasuno has seen him smile. No one in Miyagi, except his family, has seen him smile.

Hinata had never shown any emotions at all. His eyes have always been blank, and his voice, cold. No one knows when he's annoyed, because he never reacts to anything, not even when his senpais in the volleyball team tried to scare him. It was like he was a block of ice.

He shies away from all physical touches, unless it's necessary. The first time someone touched him without his permission was when Tanaka placed his arm on Hinata's shoulders. The 2nd year would never forget that day. The thing was, Hinata just looked at him coldly, waited for his upperclassman to remove his arm and continued walking. Somehow, that one cold look was worse than all the glares he'd received in his entire 16 years of living.

it's not like Hinata was anti-social or anything. He has friends, despite his indifference and cold personality. He made friends with First year Kunimi Akira and third year Iwaizumi Hajime of Seijoh. He made friends with Kozume Kenma, the silent and calculative setter from Nekoma, a school from Tokyo that Karasuno had a practice match with. He even made friends with the silent giant of Date Tech, Aone Takanobu.

But to see him in such an apathetic and cold state is unnerving.

But they never expected Hinata to show emotions in a training camp of all things, and for it to be connected to one person.

The first thing Hinata noticed when he got to the training camp was the lack of a tall male with dark, messy hair beside Kenma. While the two weren't together all the time, Kuroo had never failed to meet Daichi for whatever testosterone battle they would have whenever they meet.

"Kuroo-san is not with you?" Hinata asked Kenma as he walked beside the setter. Kenma looked up from his game and shook his head.

"No. The snakes have been invited to the camp and he's currently arguing with the captain." Kenma said, and Hinata fought the urge to click his tongue. There was only one highschool in the entirety of Japan that are considered snakes, both in mannerisms and mascot.

"Nohebi Academy's here." Hinata stated as he picked his pace up. Fortunately for everyone, Nohebi's captain is his cousin, and Hinata is one of the very few people that Daishou listens to.

He walked ahead of Kenma and walked into the gym, eyes roaming for the sleek green hair of his cousin. It wasn't that hard to find Daishou, considering that his voice, along with Kuroo's was loud from where they were taunting each other by a wall. In all honesty, if Hinata didn't know that Daishou was utterly in love with his girlfriend, and that Kuroo was dating Fukurodani's setter, he would've assumed that the tension between them was sexual tension.

He ignored all the stares he was receiving as he headed their way, using a single finger and hooking it on Daishou's collar, tugging the male away from Kuroo. Daishou was ready to blow up at whoever pulled him away from the stupid argument he was having with Kuroo until he saw who did it.

"Why-"

"No fighting."

"But-"

"Nii-san."

"Shou-"

"Daishou Suguru." Hinata said in the coldest voice he could muster, ignoring the wide eyes and the shivers that went through the room because of it. "I will call Mika-nee."

Daishou paled, although no one can tell if it was because of the cold voice or the threat of Hinata calling someone. He quickly ran across the gym towards where his team watched in amusement, hiding behind a male with messy, light brown hair and blue eyes. "Kuguri! Help me!"

Kuguri just looked at his captain with a blank face. "You're on your own, Captain." He said, causing Daishou to whine dramatically. Hinata ignored Daishou and formally bowed at Kuroo.

"I am so sorry for my cousin and his actions." He said, causing dropped jaws.

"Cousin?!" Kuroo practically screamed at Hinata's face. To Hinata's credit, he didn't even blink.

"Yes. I am, quite unfortunately, the only cousin of Daishou Suguru."

"Hey! What do you mean 'unfortunately?!' I am a delight, thank you very much." Daishou stated, causing blank looks to be sent his way.

"Debatable" Hinata said, the same time Kuguri stated "Arguable."

"I cannot believe the two of you." Daishou stated as he pouted and walked out the gym. Hinata watched him go as he resisted the urge to smack his forehead, clench his jaw or heave a sigh out. An urge that is very common whenever his cousin is involved. So instead, he walked towards the wall between Karasuno and Nekoma's benches, sighing silently as he sat down, legs stretched out and back leaning on the wall behind him.

It was the first day of the month long summer training camp and Hinata was glad that the first two days were meant for socializing and relaxing instead of practicing. As much as he refused to admit it, he missed his cousin dearly. But there was one person that he missed the most.

A shadow loomed over him and Hinata looked up and met the sapphire eyes of the only first year from Nohebi, Kuguri Naoyasu.

"Hello, Sapphire." Hinata stated softly and fondly, causing everyone that heard him to freeze in shock. To the ones that knew him, it was definetly a shock. His voice was soft, fond, extremely different from the daily cold one that he uses.

"Hey, Topaz." Kuguri said just as fondly. Hinata tilted his head, and Kuguri took it as an invitation. Instead of sitting beside the ginger, Kuguri laid down and plopped his head on Hinata's lap, causing dropped jaws. Karasuno and Nekoma expected Hinata to push Kuguri off, and they all nearly had an aneurysm when Hinata lifted a hand and ran it through Kuguri's light hair.

"Still having bedhead problems, hmm?" Hinata stated as he played with the light brown hair.

"You like my hair, bedhead or not." Kuguri stated as he looked directly at Hinata's eyes.

"I do."

Kuguri closed his eyes as Hinata continued to play with his hair, ignoring all eyes on them. A few seconds later, another wave of shock went around the gym as Kuguri reached out and entwined his hand with Hinata's free hand, rubbing circles on the back of the ginger's palm with his thumb.

They both hated skin ship. Many of the people in the gym that was watching them know it. Hinata is widely known in Miyagi for it and it spread through Tokyo because of Kuroo. Kuguri is incredibly handsome, and his hate for skin ship is known all throughout Tokyo because it was part of what was being spread around along with the tally of admirers that he has rejected.

Yet here they are, openly engaging in skinship.

"Sleepy?"

"Mhm. It's hard to sleep when you're not around."

His words caused a wave of muttering, wondering exactly what their relationship was. All of these, they ignored.

"I know. It's hard for me too, even with the video calls. It's not the same." Hinata said, and Kuguri's eyes snapped open. Sapphire eyes met topaz ones and everything around them melted away until it was just the two of them in their little world.

"I missed you, Topaz."

"I missed you too, Sapphire."

And for once, a hint of a smile was seen from the both of them.

It was no secret that Hinata was mature. They can see it from the way he interacted with people.

He grew up more mature than most children his age, being the heir to the Eastern Sun Enterprises and having been the one to reel in his extremely competitive and cunning of a cousin. It didn't help that his own father was very cheerful,, and that his mother and sister were the sunshine of their family.

Growing up, it was hard for him to have any friends. He was cold, mature, quiet and observant. Not to mention the fact that his cousin loved starting little arguments.

And then he met Kuguri Naoyasu, heir to the White Dove Agency.

They were 8 when they met, and Kuguri was a boy that was so similar to him, yet somehow so different as well. Calm, collected, mostly lethargic, Kuguri's personality resonated with Hinata. However, unlike Hinata's cold façade, Kuguri held a constant air of indifference. But they held the very same blank face and lack of emotion in their eyes.

As he got to know Kuguri when time passed, Hinata found himself drawn to the boy. Drawn to the mess of a hair, and the way Kuguri would play with his nails when he's bored. Drawn to the way the blue eyes sparkled like sapphires under direct light would when he found something interesting.

He was thirteen when he realised that he liked Kuguri. He didn't even know what led him to that conclusion. All he knew was that his heart always beat fast when Kuguri was leaning on his shoulder when they're reading little bits of paperwork that they actually understand. Sometimes, just hearing his voice could make Hinata's heart quicken. He was fourteen when he realised that he fell for Kuguri. He fell for the way Kuguri was reserved and indifferent, but always looked at Hinata with a soft look that only their immediate families can see. He fell for the way the summer sun made the light brown hair even lighter, how the breeze would ruffle it beautifully. But Hinata is scared.

They were already best friends by then, and he was terrified. If he confessed, and Kuguri didn't like him back, would he lose him? He can't do that. He valued Kuguri too much.

Growing up in a household that shared a no-nonsense philosophy, Kuguri learned only to speak up when asked or when necessary. His father had always said to only speak when one has something meaningful to say, unless you're speaking to someone you truly care for or someone you love.

He never understood that, until he met Hinata when he was 8. Hinata was smart, cold and calculating, despite his young age. They never spoke, when they first met. All they did was sit beside each other and draw. Or Kuguri would draw while Hinata reads. Between the two of them, Kuguri is the artist, and Hinata is the scholar. But the both of them adored volleyball too. That hasn't changed, the older they got.

It wasn't until Hinata asked Kuguri something in a soft voice that their relationship changed from acquaintance to friends.

They were so similar in some ways, but also very different. As time passed by, they spent more of it with each other, until they found it difficult to not have the other around. Sleepovers became a common occurrence, and their parents had to buy them a phone for late night calls just so they could sleep properly at night.

Kuguri was thirteen when he realised that he felt something for Hinata, but didn't know what. It wasn't until he was fourteen that he realised that he loved his ginger haired friend after he noticed how his breath would hitch whenever the sun makes the hazel eyes look like the topaz gems in his mother's collection when the sun hits Hinata's face at just the right angle.

Or the way his breath gets stolen from his lungs when Hinata would soften and laugh with him, or just give him the smile that is reserved just for him behind closed doors.

He was fourteen when he realised that he didn't want to waste time, despite the fear of losing the most important person in his life.

They were fourteen when Kuguri asked Hinata out on a date. The younger male would never admit it, but that was not a planned question at all. They were on the rooftop garden of the White Dove Agency, spending the day just lazing around. The sun was shining down on Hinata, and it made his orange hair more red.

In Kuguri's eyes, Hinata is the most beautiful being. Watching the orange haired male, he had the urge to pick a pencil up and draw Hinata. So he did. He never left anywhere without a set of drawing materials after all. He took his time, and Hinata didn't move much. He knew Kuguri was drawing him, and it made his heart flutter. He couldn't hide the awe when Kuguri showed him the final piece. Not that he even bothered to.

The piece was beautiful, and it captured Hinata perfectly. From every highlight and every shadow to the very glow of Hinata's eyes. Kuguri looked at Hinata and asked him out then and there, unable to control his words.

They both remembered the beat of silence before Hinata whispered yes, and smiled at Kuguri with that smile only he can see.

Kuguri had fallen in love harder that day.

And they also became official 3 months later.

Their parents were elated, having seen it coming for miles.

Hinata's phone rang, pulling him away from his dreams of the past. He hadn't noticed that he had fallen asleep, his hands still tangled in Kuguri's hair. He looked around and noticed that they were the only ones that remained in the gym. Another ring and he grumpily fished his phone up and answered it.

"Hello?" Hinata said, humming in response to whoever was across the phone before dropping it. He ran his fingers through Kuguri's hair to slowly wake him up. "Yasu? Sapphire. Wake up."

"Hmm?"

"Dad, Uncle Taoki and Uncle Kaito are looking for us. They want us at White Dove as soon as possible. A car is waiting outside." Hinata stated, causing Kuguri to open his eyes.

"Did they say why?" Kuguri asked as he slowly got up.

"No." Hinata said as he accepted the hand that Kuguri lent him. As soon as he was on his feet, Kuguri pulled him closer and wrapped an arm around his waist. "Hi."

"Hi, Topaz."

"Come on, Since Uncle Taoki is involved, it means we need Suguru-san?"

"Yes."

"Alrighty then." Kuguri said as they walked out of the gym, an arm around Hinata's shoulders. They didn't need to look that far. As soon as they walked out the gym doors, they were greeted by the sight of Daishou teasing the Nekoma players. The other teams just watched, enjoying the chaos.

"You have got to be kidding me." Hinata whispered, and Kuguri bit back a laugh. "Can you go get him?" The taller male nodded and walked towards Daishou, tapping the older male on the shoulder.

"Hmm? Oh! You're awake. Is Shou-kun awake too?" Kuguri nodded and tilted his head to where Hinata was standing, arms crossed and a cold look in his eyes. "...shit."

"Shit indeed. Come on, he needed to talk to you." Kuguri said as he led Daishou towards Hinata, the green-haired male looking like a kicked puppy.

"Dad, Uncle Taoki and Uncle Kaito wants us at White Dove as soon as possible. We have been excused until after dinner." Hinata said as soon as Daishou was in front of him before turning around and walking towards the waiting car, Kuguri following him silently.

"Wait, why didn't they call me?" Daishou asked as he caught up with them, ignoring the questioning eyes on them.

"They did. Aunt Kumi said that she left missed calls on your phone." Hinata said, causing Daishou to pale as he ran to the car, not even bothering to check his phone.

"...you didn't tell me they called him." Kuguri said, and Hinata looked at him with a mischevious twinkle in his eyes.

"Because they didn't. But, how else was I going to make him move faster?" Kuguri's eyes sparkled in mirth.

"And you say you're not like him. You're just as cunning as he is."

"But he doesn't need to know that. Come on. Our parents are waiting."

When Hinata and Kuguri didn't show up when dinner began, his team got worried. Daishou walked in and headed for his team to make sure they know where to head for sleep, only to be intercepted by Karasuno's captain as he and his team made their way out.

"Yes?"

"Uh...Is Hinata okay? He didn't show up to dinner."

"Did your coach not tell you?"

"Not really? All he said was that there was an emergency."

"Ah. Our parents called us for something personal. He's fine. I am hoping that they are already asleep." Daishou said as he continued walking, his team and following right behind him. Daichi followed him too, and they all stopped when they found the rest of Karasuno whispering at the front of the door. He snuck passed them and sighed in relief when he noticed what they're looking at.

Or, more specifically, who.

"Well, that's good." Daishou muttered as he made his way to his bag, forgetting the fact that Karasuno and Nohebi were sharing a room.

"What is good, Daishou?" The Nohebi setter, Sakishima Isumi, asked. Daishou looked at the lump on a futon with a soft smile.

Said lump is his sleeping cousin, with a sleeping Kuguri on top of him. Kuguri was laying on Hinata, his right cheek on Hinata's left collarbone. Hinata's left hand is around Kuguri's shoulders while his right hand is tangled in the light brown hair.

"Them sleeping. They both haven't slept well since they got separated. They met when they were 8. By the time they were 11, they can't sleep without the other." Daishou said as he changed. When he turned around, he found the blue-eyed setter of Karasuno glaring at Kuguri.

How very interesting.

Daishou shrugged as he made his way to the futon by the window. He would feel bad for the kid, but he's doesn't really care.

As long as the people he cared about are happy, he doesn't care for anything else.

Hinata woke up to his cheek pressing on muscle and the feeling of someone running their hands through his hair. He slowly opened his eyes and realised that he was now laying on top of Kuguri.

"What time is it? When did we..?" He trailed off, knowing that Kuguri would know what he's talking about.

"No idea. It's 5am." Kuguri said after squinting at the watch he always wears unless it needed to be taken off, a gift from Hinata.

"I need to go for a run." Hinata said as he slowly got off Kuguri with a yawn.

"I'm coming with you." Kuguri said as he helped Hinata up. They silently creeped around the room for a change of clothes and walked out the door to freshen up. As soon as they were outside, Kuguri pulled Hinata towards him and planted a kiss on the ginger's plump lips. "Good morning, Topaz."

Hinata chuckled as he placed a hand on Kuguri's cheek. "Good morning, Sapphire. You think you can catch up to me?" Hinata smirked as he slowly walked away from his boyfriend.

"Is that a challenge, sunshine?"

"Yes. Yes it is." And Hinata booked it, Kuguri following him not too far off.

An hour later was when the next set of the students in the shared Karasuno-Nohebi dorm woke up and noticed the absence of two people in one futon.

"Uh...where's Shouyou?" Nishinoya asked, and all eyes moved towards the neatly fixed futon.

"Probably on a run. Shouyou had that habit and Naoyasu would always go with him." Daishou yawned out.

"You're not worried that one of your own ran off without telling you?" Daichi asked his fellow captain, raising a brow when Daishou shook his head. "Why?"

"Because there was never a need to worry when it comes to the two of them. They've always been so mature and responsible. They'll be fine." Daishou said, before a shriek caught their attention. They all ran towards the window and found Hinata running away from Kuguri, a bright smile on his face.

"Naoyasu don't you dare!"

"Come here Shouyou~"

"No-AHAHHA!" Hinata let out a shriek of laughter as Kuguri caught him, the brunet's fingers immediately finding HInata's ticklish spots. "D-damn it! AHAHAH! N-Naoyasu!"

Hinata laughed himself to tears, and took deep breaths to calm himself down when Kuguri finally stopped. He locked eyes with Kuguri and sent the taller male a gremlin smile. Not giving him time to react to it, Hinata tackled him to the grass and retaliated.

"W-wait! AHAHHAH! I'm-AHAHAHA! I'm sorry! Please!"

They could feel the eyes on them, but neither cared. They had not seen each other in person in almost four months. For a couple that had grown up together and was never separated for longer than a few days at a time, the past four months was terrible for the both of them.

Hinata tilted his head and looked at Kuguri who had his eyes closed as he caught his breath. He got off from where he ended up sitting on Kuguri's stomach and held a hand out, intending on helping Kuguri up. But Kuguri tugged him back down, making him crash on Kuguri's chest. "Ouch. Sapphi-" Hinata was cut off by a pair of lips on him, causing a wave of shock. "Sapphire...Everyone's watching us."

Kuguri rased a brow. "Do I look like I care?" He asked as he wrapped an arm around Hinata's waist, making the ginger scoff. No, Kuguri had never been one to care for gossips and mindless chatters. Instead of answering, Hinata just leaned in and kissed Kuguri.

"I love you, Sapphire."

"I love you, Topaz."

If the teams expected Hinata and Kuguri to show more emotions after their little show that morning, they were about to find themselves disappointed. Karasuno was excited, but all the excitement dropped when Hinata and Kuguri walked into the gym, Hinata's cold look and the air of indifference that constantly surrounded Kuguri were back despite the fact that Kuguri's arm was around Hinata's shoulder.

Kuguri noticed someone from the Karasuno glaring at him and let out a small smirk when the glare deepened after he kissed Hinata's temple before walking away smugly. He was not one to get jealous. There was no need to, especially after the conversation they had with their parents. But he will take each moment that he can to assert that Hinata is his

And that he is Hinata's.

Hinata tilted his head as he watched Kuguri walk away. People wouldn't notice it, but he did. He noticed the smugness that intermingled with the constant air of indifference that surrounded Kuguri, and couldn't help but wonder what made the teen so smug. Shrugging it off, he walked towards his team to stretch, fully expecting their questions.

"Hinata-kun? Is he your boyfriend?" Karasuno's senior manager, Shimizu Kiyoko asked, squealing when Hinata nodded.

"Really? For how long?" Yamaguchi asked.

"Two years." Hinata answered as he stretched his back.

"That's amazing. Congratulations, Hinata."

"Thank you, Asahi-san."

"Man, Hinata. I can't believe you're dating a shitty city boy." Tanaka commented, making Hinata blink and look at his upperclassman.

"You do remember that I grew up in Tokyo...yes?" He asked, making Tanaka blush.

"Oh uh..yes?"

Hinata shook his head as he got off from the floor, shaking off the amusement he was feeling before it showed.

"Shouyou!" Daishou called out as soon as he walked into the gym. Hinata had been practicing his setting skills with Kuroo, Bokuto, Tsukishima, Lev and Akaashi when his cousin walked in with Kuguri in tow.

"Yes?" Hinata asked as he walked towards his water bottle, giving Kuguri a kiss on his cheek as he passed by him. Immediately, Hinata knew that the conversation was going to be serious. Daishou never called him by his full given name unless it was serious.

"The family has decided to announce the news of the arrangements tomorrow." Daishou stated as he looked at the couple in front of him. No one else saw it, but their eyes lit up, making Daishou smile.

"All?"

"All." Hinata nodded at that and faced Kuguri, a soft smile on the other first year's face as sat down beside him on the bench and held Hinata's hand, squeezing it once. Daishou left them alone and walked out without even addressing the nosy ears that was trying to eavesdrop on their conversation. Hinata looked at his boyfriend and tilted his head towards the court, to which Kuguri nodded. They joined the others in the court, not really saying anything until Akaashi said something first.

"Hinata-kun? Is everything alright?"

"Hmm? Oh yes, Akaashi-san. Everything's fine." Hinata stated as he tossed the ball to Kuguri, watching as the tall male hit the ball passed Kuroo's read blocking, much to the dark-haired captain's chagrin.

"Hinata! I got a question." Bokuto said as he watched the orange-haired male toss the ball to Kuroo.

"Yes, Bokuto-san?" Hinata asked as he looked at the ace.

"Can we know what the news are about? Daishou looked so happy." The ace stated, ignoring the reprimanding look Akaashi sent him. Kuroo and Lev looked just as intrigued, while Tsukishima just raised his brow. Hinata looked at Kuguri before they both nodded their head.

"We'll tell you, but you cannot tell anyone until tomorrow." Hinata said, waiting until the others nodded their heads. When they did, the couple let out a bright smile.

"Shouyou and I are-"

Kageyama Tobio looked at the ball in his hands as he reflected. Hinata Shouyou, despite his cold personality, had attracted Kageyama's attention. And he didn't even know why. But then again, as a 15-year old, there were a lot of things that he didn't know. All he knew was that he felt his heart jump whenever Hinata is around, or the fact that he felt jealous when he found out that Hinata is with Kuguri. He thought that maybe, just maybe, he had a chance, since Hinata actually spoke to him without needing to be prompted.

And then he found out that the ginger is dating someone. For two years.

There was no way he that he could compete with that.

Especially with the way that Hinata would subtly light up, or how his shoulders relaxed whenever the Nohebi first year was around.

He was brought out of his musings when a female with long brown hair walked in the gym with sungalsses in her eyes, a crowd with cameras following behind her.

Yamaka Mika, a famous model, and one of Nohebi's third years.

Before anyone could blink, Daishou ran towards her with a smile. "Mika!" He said as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder, leading her into the gym and ignored the paparazzi by the door. He nodded at Hinata, who walked towards the doors to deal with the cameras, not expecting the onslaught of questions that became directed at him.

"Hinata-san! Hinata-san! Is it true at you and Kuguri Naoyasu-san, the heir to the White Dove Agency, are engaged?"

Hinata looked at the blue haired girl that held a camera. Before he could answer, Kuguri's arms wrapped around his waist, causing more cameras to flash. He held Kuguri's hand before smiling at the cameras. "Yes, it is true."

Gasps of shock rang out as Kuguri politely asked the paparazzi to leave.

Over at the court that Karasuno was occupying, Kageyama felt his heart shatter.

But he shook it off. He'll be okay.

He'll find someone that would resonate with him the way that Kuguri and Hinata did. One day.
