(And I Will Always) Love You

Summary:

“Take that back Skeppy,” the other whined playfully at the statement, as if his stomach didn’t tangle up in knots, dreading the thought of letting his beloved go after all these years in a cautious tango.

There was a deafening silence.

And then a small chuckle, which was chased after by hysterical laughter. The shift in atmosphere was uncomfortably jarring, the underlying tone to his beloved’s laughter desperate and saddened.

He was barely able to squeak out a meek sounding, “Skeppy?”

Skeppy’s vision seemed to refocus, shattered glass meeting clear crystal, and Bad could’ve sworn he saw a flash of anger, or even worse, hurt.

“Why can’t you fucking call me Zak?”

- - - - -

He’s sure he could move on.

Sure he should’ve done things differently.

Sure things would’ve turned out differently if he had.

Sure it would’ve been enough to keep him.

Maybe.

He likes to think so, anyway.

Notes:

Hope this makes you cry and not cringe.
This chapter is supposed to be written as if there's more context for this, sorry if it's confusing.

Chapter 1: Who Knew Forever Was Too Much?

Chapter Text

They were leaning against each other on the sofa, the night bringing calmness the hectic day could never offer. After what felt like lifetimes of scrolling through his phone, Darryl felt movement coming from his left. Surprisingly, Skeppy sat up and moved to the sofa arm opposite himself, consequently moving his body to face Darryl. Darryl watched carefully, the stiff movement from the brunet sprouting uneasiness in his own stomach. After Skeppy settled comfortably, he proceeded to say something that chilled Darryl to the core.

What?

Why would his sunshine say such a terrible thing? And then refuse to look at him, the person who’s heart he froze in terror.

Instead of seeking answers within the other’s facial features, he chose to contemplate the position of the hung-up YouTube plaques, despite their place there for years.

The laughter had ended as suddenly as it started, the living room going quiet as the laughter finished with pained giggles. Darryl’s newfound relief was short lived, however, when he sensed eyes boring into him. Despite feeling Skeppy was too vulnerable, he sent a worried glance to see why he was being glared at. Darryl was shocked to see tears rolling down the other’s cheek, with the owner of said tears staring right through him.

++++++-

“I just don’t know how to tell him!” Darryl heard the exasperated whisper from the other side of the bathroom door. He had been reaching for the doorknob, ready to use the washer in the restroom and insert some dirty laundry. He was determined to be a busy body today, forcing his mind away from the burning question that haunted him. Seems his plans would have to wait.

Both hands were now clinging to the laundry basket like a lifeline. Not wanting to know the context to that sentence, he chose to sneak off and pretend nothing happened. Unfortunately, too slow in stepping away, he caught the next phrase that slipped out of Skeppy’s mouth.

“Techno, you are no help! I’m going to hang up!” There was slight hesitation in the threat, and Techno seemed to pick up on this too. “What?” He hasn’t hanged up. “I’m not an idiot, I told him yesterday and he fucking laughed me off!” Why would he be talking to Techno about that? “It’s not just that! This was a minor inconvenience when we met up, but it’s getting to be too much now. Ha-ha, very funny asshole.”

“No, techno, wait. I’m sorry man, I just… I can’t.” What? “Who knew forever was too much?”

Notes:

This has been in the drafts since January, not because of my self confidence, just my attention span and bigger goals. Decided to once again procrastinate on school work, but with a purpose. I honestly don't think I'll continue this unless there's an overwhelming support, thanks for reading all of this though!
