Chapter Text
The heir stared at himself in the mirror, looking for a source of motivation, only to be greeted by the unpleasant sight of his own drained expression.
With his own two hands, he had climbed up to the top of the pyramid that was the Togami family, making him the Ultimate Affluent Progeny. For the first time in Togami history would the youngest son be to inherit the riches and power the lineage held.
Byakuya Togami reminded himself of that as he straightened his tie, however the emotionless figure continued to glare at him.
Morning sunlight shone through the large glass windows of his bedroom, yet the atmosphere still felt heavy and pessimistic.
Frankly, that's how Byakuya's life was.
He dedicated his life to work. Work, work, work and more work. His lifelong aspiration was to inherit the power the Togami name held, and bring the family to even greater wealth.
Now that he had almost achieved that, his goal seemed minuscule and insignificant.
Byakuya grabbed his book bag and left his room. His polished shoes pattered across the emerald green carpet that covered the parquet flooring of the Togami mansion.
Weaving his way through the seemingly endless corridors, lined with emerald green wallpaper, he finally reached the main hall. An awfully large emerald vase rested on a glass table with golden vines propping it up. Byakuya glanced at it, before being greeted by a butler wearing a black suit with an emerald tie and emerald green eyes. Silently, he bowed and opened the door for the heir.
He made his way into the kitchen, where a bowl of muesli with fruits and honey waited on the emerald countertop. He ate it in silence, making sure to thank the cook for the meal before he left.
The enormous, dark oak door was opened for Byakuya by another butler. She also wore a suit with an emerald tie but her eyes were a deep brown, much like the door she was opening. Her hair was frizzy and stuck up in all directions but it wasn't messy. It was what one might call an 'organised mess'.
She smiled at Byakuya as he left; he didn't take any notice of it.
A sage green Bentley pulled up on the carefully paved driveway of the Togami residence. Ducking, the heir got into the car. The driver stepped on the gas and drove off.

Loud noises bombarded Byakuya's ears as he walked through the gates of Hope's Peak Academy. It was the most prestigious school in the area, accepting only the most talented and gifted of students.
The courtyard bustled with life as students in neatly ironed tan uniforms gathered at the entrance. Not many students, however, wore those uniforms. In fact, Byakuya noticed, there were probably more people in their own clothes than the school's uniform.
Togami was no exception. He had worn a perfectly tailored black suit, accompanied by a leather briefcase rather than a backpack, almost as if to show his high social status.
Nobody stared at him in awe as he walked through those gates. Nobody gasped and fainted as he walked through the courtyard. He had imagined those scenarios in his head and was now disappointed that none of them came to fruition.
The bell rang, banging at the inside of Byakuya's skull as he entered Hope's Peak Academy. He was attending the school of his dreams, yet the heavy, dreadful atmosphere form earlier had not been lifted even a bit.
At his old school, Togami was a big deal. Here nobody gave him more than a glance.
' Do they really not know who I am? I, Byakuya Togami, the Ultimate Affluent Progreny? '
He adjusted his glasses on his nose and stormed off to find his classroom, the thought of being irrelevant lingering in his mind.
