Horvath stumbled back as he saw Dave stop Morgana’s stream of fire with his deflective spell. ‘It can’t be!’ he thought, ‘he doesn’t have his ring!’ The Prime Merlinian had arrived, Morgana had no chance. Having lost all faith that Morgana might win, Horvath ran off. He didn’t even notice when a small ring shaped like a dragon slipped off his staff.
The next day, Battery Park looked completely normal. All evidence that there might have been an enormous battle, or any battle for that matter, was gone. Plasma marks had disappeared, and the damaged cement floors had returned to normal. People strolled through the park going about their normal day. A skinny boy walked alongside his mother looking around. His eyes widened as he caught sight of a glint of light. The boy ran up to it and crouched down to pick it up.
“Mom! Look what I found!” The boy looked to his mom in excitement. The look of excitement turned to disappointment as he saw his mother didn’t stop. Either she didn’t notice he was gone, or she just didn’t care. The boy sank in disappointment, but he ran up to follow his mother.
