Work Text:
It was late October, the wind was chilly but the rest of the weather was nice enough for just a sweater. Lovely weather for a walk around. That's exactly what Patty Blum was doing walking around hand in hand with her boyfriend, who had traveled to see her from NYU. Not that it was a far trip but still felt special that he'd come to visit her. They had only started dating about a month ago, meeting at a back to school party and hitting it off right away. Making things official only a week or two later. She hadn't really kept track because once it was everything felt right. Stanley felt right. The way his hand fit in her's and the way her whole body warmed up when he had his arm around her as they watched birds or studied. She didn't even feel like an annoyance as she rambled on about the different types of flowers and their meaning or how to grow them best. Stan listened and was always there for her. She was almost sure she loved him.
"Patty?" Stan's voice and small squeeze to her hand had pulled the blonde out of thought.
"Hm?" She hummed and curls bounced as she turned her head to look at him.
"You looked to be lost in thought, what's up?" Stan asked carefully, he looked concerned. Patty felt her heart melt.
"Oh. I was just thinking about us." She admits, a little embarrassed by that. Stan laughed softly and shakes his head. A gentle blush crept over her freckled face.
"Us? Good things I hope." He chuckles and leans down to kiss the top of her head. That has been the closet kiss they got. The head, nose, cheek, or temple. Never been on the lips ever. And she understood why they have only been dating for a month. Give or take.
"Of course only good things!" Patty says quickly and a bit flustered. How could she tell him she thinks she's in love with him or that she wanted to kiss. What if he'd think she is crazy after that. Looking over Stan's face she gave him a warm smile.
"Okay, good. That's good." Stan says with his own slight blush. Turning back to continue their walk. Squeezing her hand gently again as they strolled.
After a bit, Stan led them to a quiet café. Late lunch he'd explain, but Patty was sure it's because he got cold. She didn't mind it was nice enough minus the stares from older patrons. It was what always happened when they went out, Patty always wondered if Stan was annoyed with them especially with how she dressed. They would have just gotten looks because they were a Jewish couple, but now they are that Jewish couple and one of them was dressed out of the norm.
"Earth to Patty." Stan called softly and shook her shoulders. "You are very spaced out today, is everything okay?"
"Yeah. Yeah. I'm okay." Patty shakes her head slightly. Feeling her cheeks light up again.
"What do you want? I'll pay." Stan offers with a gentle smile.
Patty ordered a hot chocolate and a simple sandwich. Stan got tea and a sandwich. Telling her to find a seat while he waited for their order. Patty hummed softly as she found a quiet corner near a window. Humming softly and drums her fingers on the table. Watching the people walk by, thoughts filled with more thoughts of Stan. Blinking then he sat across from him.
"Here is your food Babylove." Stan says sweetly.
"Thank you." She whispers and takes a careful sip of her drink. Looking over him with a hum.
"You look really beautiful today." Stan compliments with a smile and sip of his tea.
"Oh thank you, you too." Patty says quietly and looks over him. Blushing brightly when she realized she called him beautiful.
"Thanks." Stan chuckles at that. Taking a bite of the sandwich. The rest of their lunch was a comfortable silence. That's another thing that made her think she loved him. The silence was never awkward or thick. It was always comfortable.
Once they had both finished their drinks it was time to continue their walk. Back to her Campus where he had parked so he could head back to his dorm and catch up on sleep or school work. Patty swings their locked hands as they head back. Stan chuckling as she did. They stayed like that till they were at his car.
"I had fun today." Patty said softly as she squeezed his hand.
"It was nice." Stan agreed. Looking at her face, eyes falling to her lips. Patty noticed and shifted slightly. Taking a deep breath.
"Stan?" Patty asked quietly. Reaching up to cup his jaw.
"Yes?" His voice was quiet as he looked into her eyes.
"Can you kiss me?" Patty's eyes widened when it hit her that she had said that out loud. And before she could ramble out an apology. Stan's lips were on her's. It was a sweet kiss, but there was a want to it. Like they had both been waiting for this moment. Patty's arms carefully wrap around Stan's neck. He was the first to break the kiss, not wanting too much PDA.
"Thank you." Was the first thing out of Patty's lips once they pulled apart. A blush and smile lighting up her face.
"No problem, I've been wanting to do that for a while." Stan chuckles.
"So this means we can kiss whenever now, right?" Patty asked with a small giggle.
"I guess so." Stan laughed. "Just let's not become that couple that loudly makes out in the library."
"Agreed." Patty smiles and kisses him quickly once more. Stan gladly kisses back.
"I'll call you once I get back to my dorm." Stan says quietly
"Be safe." She says just as quietly. Pulling away so he could get into his car. Waving to each other before both heading for their respective dorms. Both with wide grins and bright blushes.
