Work Text:
Vincenzo wasn’t sure how it all had started. In the beginning all of their relationships had been rocky with Vincenzo finding Cha Young annoying and Hanseo just a shadow of his brother. But as time went by, their bonds grew stronger. It had only felt right to have Cha Young and Hanseo circle around him, their presence always close.
Cha Young had been easier to start liking as they worked together, seemingly always together no matter if he wanted it or not. Their mischiefs together brought them closer until the tension seemed to overpower them. Ever since then they hadn’t been able to hold back from each other, even though they never specified what they exactly were.
Hanseo had been a surprise though. It had all started when he booked a meeting with Vincenzo in hopes of getting help to tear down his brother from the Babel throne and ever since then Hanseo seemed to be a common occurrence in his life. In the beginning Vincenzo had only seen him as an annoyance that seemed to stop him from overthrowing Babel, but as time went he saw the cracks that started to appear in Hanseo’s persona. The younger man had tried to seem confident and unbothered, but behind the built-up walls he was still a scared boy.
Vincenzo’s clearest evidence of this was when they were seated opposite of each other in a restaurant, when they drank. After some conversations and a couple of glasses the both of them had loosened up and Vincenzo was able to ask the question that plagued his mind. After he had asked why , even though Hanseo now had everything he wanted, he still helped him. Hanseo’s cheeks had turned red and his gaze had wavered before it settled slightly behind Vincenzo.
( Because you make me feel comfortable).
Since Vincenzo could guess what happened behind closed doors in Hanseo’s home, he treated the sentence as the biggest privilege. When he later told Cha Young about the conversation, she had smirked and teased him that he was changing into a softy. But he knew that in secret Cha Young too was relieved that Hanseo finally started to trust them. Later when they laid flushed against each other in the bed the sentence would reply itself in his head until he fell asleep.
After the event, both Vincenzo and Cha Young tried to invite Hanseo over whenever he was able to slip away from his brother’s claws. Whether he is there to forge plans against Babel or just conversating, they all seemed to be content to just be close to each other.
The first time the couple hugged him goodbye Hanseo froze up and closed his eyes, seemingly expecting to be hit. It breaks something in the both of them and they don’t let him leave until they’ve explained that they would never do something that heinous to him. When Hanseo quietly pointed out that Vincenzo was a mafia member, he only chuckled and ruffled his hair.
( I only punish bad guys.)
When Hanseo looks up at both of them, his eyes barely visible through his fringe, he sported a small smile on his lips. He whispered out a soft thanks before leaving them alone in the office, both feeling like a part of them just walked through the door.
The conversation between them happens so naturally that they aren’t sure who brought it up first. It just felt wrong for Hanseo to not be a part of their thing. Without even thinking it, they’ve both seemed to dot and worry about him, constantly wishing he would just stay at their place so they could keep him safe. But they agreed that this was not their step to make. Even though the many nights and days together had managed to make Hanseo slowly open up, he still was heavily affected by Hanseok’s abuse. If something ever was to happen it would be on Hanseo’s terms and therefore they could do nothing but show their love for him in secret.
Vincenzo had more control over his actions. He kept his actions through soft touches against Hanseo’s cheeks, small praises and gentle hands touching his waist. One time even kissing Hanseo’s cheek with an excuse about it being an Italian greeting. Vincenzo’s love language had never really involved talking, instead he would use soft touches to remind both of his favourite people in the world how much they meant to him.
Cha Young was a force to be reckoned with though, as always. She wasn’t afraid to hold onto Hanseo’s hands, complimenting him or being generally close to him. Hanseo’s worried glances toward Vincenzo seemed to check if the older man would ever lash out against him for being so close to his partner. But Vincenzo would always meet his gaze with a loving smile before going back to researching. As time went by, Hanseo started to accept the touches without ever making sure Vincenzo would be offended.
As time went by, all of them fell into a comfortable pattern of always being close. Hanseo had progressed past his fear and even managed to reciprocate their touches without any fear, even if he has some days where he seems to regress back into his old shell. But even as time has gone by, their relationship never seemed to move onto the next phase.
Until it happens one late night when Vincenzo and Cha Young works overtime, as per usual. They are stood watching the whiteboard filled with pictures when the doors are slammed open with a loud bang. Through them, a limping and bleeding Hanseo walked as he wheezed in pain. Cha Young had quickly cleared the desk of papers to get their first aid kit, meanwhile Vincenzo ran to support the younger man from falling to the floor.
After some coaxing, Hanseo finally revealed that his older brother had hit him with a hockey stick until he was satisfied, Vincenzo had cursed loudly in Italian and Cha Young looked ready to storm out the room. But one soft gesture from Hanseo halted them both. His arms were open, silently asking for a hug. Gently they pulled him into their arms and let him cry on their shoulders. As they pressed kisses to his head hair, the words seemed to tumble out of him.
( I’m so so tired of being afraid, but I can only feel safe here. Whenever something bad happens I think of you and... I wished I could stay here with you both, be with you. I-I know I’m imposing on you and I shouldn’t have said that because it doesn’t make sense… I probably have imagined it all and wished for something more but I-I feel like over time we’ve grown so much closer and.. This is wrong. You are both together and of course, I can’t join that and- oh wow this was a mistake. I’m sorry, really I’m sorry.)
When Hanseo quieted down he stood shaking, as if too afraid to move because of what the consequences would be. But the couple just held onto him tighter as they smiled towards each other. Vincenzo pulled back and wiped some of Hanseo’s tears.
( Il mio amore, you don’t understand how badly we have wanted to hear these words.)
Cha Young lowered her arms from around Hanseo’s shoulders, slightly pulling him away from her. She smiled at him before she let out a giggle. Her head came to rest on his shoulder as she pushed some of his hair out of his vision.
(I’m just surprised it took you this long to confess, I mean who wouldn’t want to date us huh?)
Hanseo let out a wet chuckle as tears were still streaming down his face. Before pulling them both into a bone-crushing hug.
Later that night Vincenzo laid in bed, both his lovers tucked under each of his arms. He studied their faces to make sure they contently slept. His finger lightly traced over Cha Young’s face, as he felt immense gratitude for his partner for being such an accepting and amazing woman. He couldn’t imagine being able to break Hanseo out of his shell if she wasn’t there with him in the journey, always supporting both of them.
He turned his head and studied his other lovers sleeping form. Hanseo was wrapped in Vincenzo’s arm, as his head laid on his chest. His mouth was slightly open and his soft snores filled the room. He felt his heart skip a beat as he realised that Hanseo was finally his partner too, all three of them now being a trio.
Vincenzo softly kissed both their heads before he settled down in the bed again.
