"I'll be safe, stop worrying"
"Yet you always return with injuries"
"It's an occupational hazard"
"Shut up Zuko, you're not a viking"
Giggles filled the small apartment, two young men cuddled on an old leather sofa. Light brown arms wrapped around a pale chest.
"I just worry about you, Y'know?". A smile made its way onto the noirettes face.
"As you've told me" a quick peck on the cheek. "I have the best reason in the world to come back safe" he replied softly.
Sokka huffed.
"You're ridiculous" A kiss on the forehead.
"Sokka, I put on a theatre mask and fight 'gangsters' with swords in the middle of the night"
"Well, when you put it like that..." More giggles..
"You're such a dork"
"But ya love me!"
"For some bizarre, convoluted reason"
Zuko kissed the brunettes cheek again.
"I should get going, I can't miss another night". The scarred man reached up to carress his lovers face.
"Wow, my own boyfriend won't even stay the night - this is neglect!" came the playful retort.
"Shut up you big drama queen" he chuckled. "Maybe if you fix the police system - I wouldn't have to do their job for them"
"I'll leave that to you, babes"
More laughs.
"I should get dressed"
"Well don't let me stop you"
"You're such a perv" Another soft laugh. But Sokka released the smaller man from his hold. Zuko stood and began to undress. Much to the delight of the other man.
"Sokka, I can feel you watching me"
"Well forgive me for admiring my handsome boyfriend"
"God's above, I hate you"
"Love you too".
Now, clad in all black and perched on the window sill. The two men whispered to each other.
"Be safe"
"I will"
"Promise?"
"I'll do my best"
"I guess that's the best I can ask for"
A gentle kiss shared.
"Just be back in bed before I wake up"
The blue mask passed between them.
"I will. I promise. Goodnight Sokka"
"Goodnight Zuko, don't do anything stupid"
"Sleep well Sokka"
One more kiss before the mask is on and the Blue-spirit has jumped away from the window and is scaling down the drain pipe.
And Sokka is left alone for the night once again.
