Chapter Text

The day was sunny, bright, and beautiful. Just like any other afternoon when you live on an island in the middle of the sea. As the daughter of the duke, I was the closest to a princess my people would ever know. I was returning to my home when my main maid came running and took me by the hand.

“Miss! Run away! Pirates have invaded!” She exclaimed, the horror in her eyes was apparent.

We hid inside the barn, being as quiet as possible when we saw him. The hat had given away the fact that he was the captain. He was tall, tanned, and handsome. The light hit his face in such a way that I could see his piercing blue eyes.

“Captain! Captain!” came a voiced from behind him “The townsfolk are searching for the princess.”

“Do not worry about that Master Hurt, I am in no mood of taking anything but gold today.”

“Yes, Captain.”

We waited for what felt hours after he left, but in reality, it was probably just 15-20 minutes. When I decided to look whatever had happened to my poor island. As I got to the town area, I could see that the pirates hadn’t left yet. The town was a disaster, places were burnt down, windows broken, and people were still running. I saw my father with his men fighting the pirates. The battle was neck to neck, about the same amount of men had fallen on each side, and the street was started to be painted by red.

“Sweetheart, run! It’s too dangerous!” My father said when he saw me.

I couldn’t just leave my people alone, so I decided to help the fallen, the children, and everyone I could. I probably was able to only help about 4 or 5 different people when I felt a hand holding my arm, and had a sword in front of me, almost touching my chest.

“Let her go, you ratchet pirate!” I heard my father yell. “My daughter has nothing to do with this battle!”

“Oh, but I think she does!” That voice, I recognized it immediately, it was the voice of the captain that I saw on the barn “Let’s make a deal, Duke of Cumber, I let your beautiful daughter go if you let the few men, you capture go.”

“Never!” My father responded without even thinking.

It all happened so fast after that. I was taken to the ship, it seemed as if it didn’t matter how much I kicked, hit, bit or scream, I was apparently, no fight for him. I have no idea how long it was until we arrived at the ship.

“Love, there is no need for that, you are part of the crew now” He said as he put me down “Follow me, there’s a place for you in my ship."
