sweet, stolen moments

Summary:

Langa and Adam go on their first date and they share several tender moments together.

Notes:

This is my second entry for Adam's Appreciation week! The prompt I used is first date. This is proof I am also able to write T-rated stories. I always wanted to read fanfics where Adam was being a caring and loving boyfriend to Langa. Despite being very horny, I also think that he also will care a lot for Langa if he is reciprocated. Kudos and comments are always appreciated!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Langa was tapping his foot nervously on the floor. He glanced around him, inspecting his surroundings. He was sitting on a neat table with a pristine blanket and neatly placed cutlery - even when he used to eat with it in Canada, he had never seen such a huge variety. He turned to face the window, admiring the sea in the background where the midday sunlight shone brightly; glancing downward, he observed the quiet line of cars passing down the street. Not only that, but he had never frequented such a place. It was a luxury hotel which also served as a restaurant for local people. He was admittedly curious as to what kind of place Adam would choose for their first date, and, even though he probably shouldn't have been, he felt quite shocked when he reached that imposing building. He even almost tripped on his board, after realizing the truth. Well, if he had looked up the place after Adam sent him the location, he probably would have had the decency not to come in his everyday clothes and probably he would have taken a bus to get there, and not his skateboard. Langa wasn't exactly a self-aware kind of guy: it had taken him months to even acknowledge the nickname other people had thought up for him during his S races. To be fair, he started to call himself that when he shared his first kiss with Adam. He realized it as the older man whispered his S name in his ear after the two of them parted and Langa was left breathless from that situation. He knew that Adam was just a nickname the man used in S, and he loved the fact that, even though the man knew his real name, he chose to address him as Snow during such a private moment nonetheless. Langa didn't have a lot of relationship experience (he didn't have any, Adam had been his first kiss ever and, he hoped, many other firsts), but he knew that couples usually called each other cute nicknames, so he was fine with them doing so.

Regarding relationships, their had been proceeding quite smoothly. Langa thought that they would immediately do everything in one evening but Adam liked taking his time. He took an immensely huge amount of time in the courting, after all, so that was to be expected. The soft touches, and the small gestures. The sweet words and the flowers. Langa fell for him and felt guilty for a while, because he didn't want to let his friends down. However, after Adam kind of resolved (temporarily, maybe) his internal struggle, things went smoothly, and the young boy felt more and more comfortable in giving in to Adam's advances. When the two of them got together (which happened after they kissed, Langa assumed), he loved the stolen gestures Adam did for him. A quick stroke of his cheek before racing together, or the way he let their hands brush together for more time than necessary. As focused on himself as he was, Adam was a decent lover. He always sent good morning and good night texts, and was always very interested in hearing what Langa had been doing during his day.

One evening, he called Langa on the phone. An event that had never happened before. Langa noticed his phone's screen lighting up and shivered in anticipation. Luckily, his phone was within reach, otherwise the silent mode would have prevented him from getting notice of that call. Langa's mind had gone off tangent thinking about all the possible reasons behind that call. His brain even went to phone sex territory, but he was surprised when Adam just asked him out on a date. It was true that they had never been to one before. Langa had never been on a date himself, so he didn't know what to expect. Adam spent a lot of time explaining the situation, apologizing even. He wanted to take his beloved Snow on a date, he wanted him to try out his favorite restaurant, but unfortunately they had to hide it. Apparently, Adam was unsure of how his relationship with Langa would be taken by his co-workers (and it wasn't like Langa had any idea of what kind of work Adam did). When the older man told him the table reservation name - Shindo - Langa realized he didn't know his first name either. He wanted to ask, but it was a bit embarrassing after sharing so many kisses pined against the trees of the abandoned mine or during their rides home from S. Langa presumed that he would eventually learn it, and didn't give it much thought. Like he didn't even consider researching the restaurant they would be spending their first date to. It wasn't that he didn't care, it was that he greatly trusted Adam and didn't feel the need to do so.

Actually, at the moment, Langa was very curious about Adam's everyday life. He entered the restaurant (after walking from the ground floor to the first made several people eyeing him suspiciously, given that he wasn't clearly dressed appropriately for the place he set his foot into), and the waiter looked at him puzzled and, admittedly, annoyed. Langa glanced around and found that the place screamed luxury and splendor from its every pore. He was clearly not abiding by the correct dress code. Luckily for him, his self-awareness threshold was way lower than other people's, and it didn't bother him a lot. For a moment, he also thought that he had gotten to the wrong place, but when he asked for his table he was proven otherwise. The waiter widened his eyes in surprise as he heard Shindo's name escaping from Langa's lips, then quickly proceeded to lead him to the designated table while apologizing profusely for his rudeness 'to one of Shindo-san's acquaintances'. That reaction made Langa briefly wonder again what kind of person was Adam, when he wasn't on a skateboard. He really was curious to know every aspect of that intriguing man. The table was behind a small booth, giving it privacy. It wasn't like the other (and very few) guests were all that interested in him either. Langa took his seat, with his back to the window, thinking that maybe Adam would've liked to look at the scenery while he was eating. He had a feeling he liked that restaurant also for the atmosphere it gave.

After some more moments of glancing around aimlessly, he heard some voices coming from behind the booths. He couldn't help but let his mouth fall open when Adam came into his sight of view. He had seen him without his mask on multiple occasions (he always made sure to take it off when they were kissing because he wanted Langa to be captured in his gaze), but his hair was always different, more unkempt. Right now, his hair was neatly combed and he had a working blue suit. He looked so professional and different.

Adam quickly thanked the waiter, dismissing him and laughed at Langa's reaction.

"Hm? Surprised? Am I too handsome?"

Langa tilted his head.

"You're… different. But a good kind of different. I've never seen you like this, it's great."

Now it was Adam's turn to be surprised, since Langa usually didn't have a lot of reaction words. It had been quite an issue at the beginning, with Adam panicking when the boy's azure eyes just stared into his red ones after their first kiss, his cute lips still wet. 'How was it, Langa-kun?' He had to ask out of worry. 'I liked it.' was the response, which left him a bit disappointed, but also relieved him, realizing that the feelings he had for Langa were mutual. He wondered if the situation would be different if they were talking in English.

"I'm sorry I made you wait here alone, Langa. Work ran a bit late this morning. You're beautiful as ever." Adam loved every single inch of that boy, and always made sure to voice his thoughts.

"It's fine, I might have screwed up the dress code for today." Langa looked at his plain clothes. "I even brought my board." Langa's foot pushed it from under the table for Adam to see.

Adam laughed for the second time, and Langa found himself loving every second of it.

"You should skate whenever you have the chance. You're still young, after all, you are allowed to do so." The older man said with a bit of grief in his voice. "And yes, it's probably a place too fancy for our first date, but they serve one of my favorite dishes. I wanted to let you try it. I hope it didn't make you uncomfortable, my love."

"No, it didn't. I like it here, it's silent. I hope I didn't make you look bad in front of the staff." Langa replied.

"You would never make me look bad, have you looked at yourself in the mirror? You're gorgeous."

Langa smiled at the compliment. Adam sat down and immediately reached for Langa's hand, gently caressing it.

"I go to this place whenever I have a stressful day, I usually sit here alone and enjoy the view. Sometimes Tadashi accompanies me." Langa looked at Adam, puzzled.

"I meant my driver. He's Snake from S, didn't you recognize him?"

Langa widened his eyes and felt a little dumb for not connecting the dots. Well, he had been interested in that mysterious skater and especially in his abilities, but, since Adam was the one he admired the most in terms of technique, his identity didn't matter much.

"That's great. It's super fun to skate with friends."

Adam scoffed at the implication but didn't elaborate further.

The two of them spent the lunch amiably, chatting about their days, talking about skating (Langa always pushed to learn new tricks from Adam; if he didn't know better from the way the younger boy moaned during their kisses he would have thought that Langa was only interested in his skating abilities) and a lot of caresses on Langa's knuckles. Adam ordered his favorite dish, let Langa take a bite, extended his hand to wipe away some food left on Langa's cheek. Langa enjoyed every bit of the older man's attention.

After lunch (Adam insisted on paying the bill), they went to take a stroll in the hotel's loft. Langa was satisfied with the result because he was able to sneak a look at the name engraved in his credit card. Ainosuke. Langa wasn't sure that it was the proper way to learn your lover's true name. A small garden was tended to in the hotel attic, and they walked around plants, enjoying the afternoon warm weather and the sea scenery. Langa had his board under his arm, sometimes tapping his fingers on it.

"It's a pity I can't take a walk with you in public. But we will get there. I promise." Adam said sweetly.

Langa nodded and closed the distance between them, brushing his shoulder against the other's. Adam was about to take the younger boy's hand in his, when he heard a voice, calling out to him.

"So it's really Shindo-san! What a pleasant surprise!" Adam immediately put distance between him and Langa, sighing inaudibly and turned towards the direction of the voice. Langa, following his lead, also turned to see who the voice belonged to. The man who called out to Adam was middle aged, slightly shorter than him, dressed in a similar suit. Probably a co-worker. Then he shouldn't have seen them together. His gaze traveled to Adam's figure, who didn't show any sign of panicking.

"Superintendent Matsumura, the pleasure is all mine. I see that we share a taste in beautiful places." Adam's voice was sultry, but Langa could sense that it was very different from the one he was very used to. Everything seemed fake and, while he was happy to see a new side of his lover, he sincerely hoped he would never be on the receiving end of such insincere attention.

"Yes, the first floor restaurant is lovely." The man's face turned to Langa, who bowed slightly to greet him.

"Ah, this is a distant cousin of mine." Adam glanced at Langa, silently asking him to go with his act. "From my mother's part of the family." He added.

"He is here for a few days to visit Okinawa and I'm showing him around." Adam quickly dispelled every doubt the man could have about them.

Langa couldn't help but be a bit taken aback at the older man's lie but he tried to hide it, for Adam's sake.

"He is as handsome as you, Shindo. Good genes run in the family, I see." Adam laughed at the other's comment (not the same kind of laugh he has for Langa, of course) and the two of them proceeded to talk about work, Langa presumed. He wasn't able to properly follow their conversation, but it looked like that the older man worked in the police department. Langa couldn't even imagine Adam being a part of the police, so maybe they were just collaborators. Langa spaced out a little, as the two of them were still deep in their conversation. It was Adam's hand gently placed on his shoulder that brought him back to reality again.

"Langa-kun, are you tired? You seem lost." Adam inquired.

"No, I'm fine, Ad--" He stopped himself. He glanced at the other man, his expression unfathomable. "...Ainosuke." It felt strange. But a good kind of strange. Adam slightly widened his eyes, but only for a moment.

"I'm sorry to have interrupted your much earned time with your family, Shindo-san. Have a good day."

The other man quickly said his goodbyes and disappeared from their view.

Adam looked at Langa, smiling. "So you figured out my real name? You never cease to surprise me, my lovely Snow."

"I wanted to ask you, but I thought it was weird. I read it from your credit card earlier." Langa admitted. Adam laughed again (the good kind of laugh) and took Langa's hand in his. The younger boy looked at him, his face mixed with surprise and concern.

"It's fine, there's no one here anymore." Adam gently reassured him. "I'm sorry we have to go through this, I'm sorry to put you through this pain. If there's something, anything, I can do to make things less hard for you--"

Langa already knew the answer.

"I want a kiss. It's our first date and we barely held each other's hand."

"A kiss should be the reward after a well executed date," Adam started. "But seeing that my Eve is so greedy…"

He then tugged Langa's arm and dragged him behind a bush. The huge seaside extended in all his beauty before their eyes. Langa took a moment to admire the scenery before Adam gently lifted his chin up and captured his lips on a kiss. He was fierce, loving, sweet and demanding all in one. Langa was intoxicated and would have gladly let him ravage his mouth again and again. Langa tried to get closer to him and allowed his hand through Adam's hair. After kissing for a while, Langa pressed his body closer to Adam, grinding shyly against him and-

"Aaaaand, that's it for today, little Langa!" Adam squeezed Langa's cheeks with his hand, turning his lips into a pout, winking at him. The younger boy furrowed his brows.

"I can't wait to experience everything with you. But, like every gourmet meal, you need a hors d'oeuvre to fully appreciate it."

Notes:

I don't know if my interpretation of Langa is correct but this one goes so well with the tone I want to set for my future Eden fanfics that I don't really care. Ep 11 showed us a Langa who didn't know what a love hotel was, and Reki counters with "are you that innocent?". However, hear me out. The concept of love hotels is common in Japan, while in western countries there is the concept of motels, if you want to go somewhere and be discreet (be it about sex or illegal deals). Western cinema showed us that. I've never seen an actual Love Hotel ™ in a western movie (it was always a motel or a luxury hotel room if there was going to be an implied sex scene). And I doubt that Nanako would just explain love hotels to Langa first thing after they landed in Okinawa. My point is: the joke in ep 11 was probably meant to be taken as 'everyone is shocked but not Langa, who is half foreigner and has never lived in Japan before, because he doesn't know that here love hotels exist' and Reki doesn't make the connection because he has lived in Okinawa his whole life and probably had never asked himself if there are love hotels around the world. I thought it would be fitting for a Japanese anime to make a joke like that (and also, they usually like to make this misunderstanding jokes). Also, in ep 6 he gets the joke Reki is trying to make ("I'll protect you") almost immediately as he is still recovering from the heat stroke and in the ep 2 preview Reki says that 'you [Langa] ask a lot about feelings'. Poor boy probably has a lot of problems expressing himself in general, especially in Japanese, and he would love to be able to do so! Thus, I don't think that Langa is that innocent if the situation allows it (like whenever he isn't put off by Adam's antics. I don't think it's just because he doesn't get it), it's just that he didn't actively research love hotels (he doesn't seem to be interested in anything beside food and, after meeting Reki, skating, so) but, honestly, were love hotels the first thing you learnt about Japan?
