Work Text:

Ah, coffee, one of life’s joys. Which is why he decided to work here, the cats are just a bonus. He swears on his life it’s just a bonus.

Izuku looked up from the register to see a scruffy homeless man looking at him. Oh, guess it’s time to work.

“Welcome to mango cat cafe! How can I help you, sir?” he put on his brightest smile.

“Extra dark coffee and two sweet cream strawberry biscuits please.” Izuku nodded.

“Alright, sir! That’ll be 400 yen, please!”

The man dug through his pockets, handing over the correct amount of yen.

“For Aizawa.” Aizawa grunted before going and sitting down at a waiting table.

Aizawa, huh? He seems smiley and outgoing. He started to make the order, pulling out the biscuits that were made that morning. Stuffing the biscuits in a paper bag just as the coffee was done brewing, put the bag on the counter and pulled out a sharpie.

And then a thought came.

“What if I purposely misspell his name..?” he thought. “Ehhh, maybe he won’t get too mad. He seems like the type of person to not care,”

He misspelled the name on purpose and snickered about how the customer didn’t seem to notice.

-----------

Shouta just wanted a coffee after dealing with Hizashi all day, but he guesses he’ll get a treat for his husband anyways. Walking up to the counter, the kid looked up at him, was he even old enough to work here?

It didn’t matter, as long as he could make good coffee. He stated his order and shortly after paying, his name so the kid knew what to call out. He seemed like the walking anxiety attack but I’ll hide it under a smile, type of person.

A short amount of time passed and his order was completed. Shouta walked up to the counter, swiped his and Hizashis treats and walked out the door.

When he finally got home, he was greeted with Hizashi on the couch watching tv while snuggling with the cats. Throwing the bag at Hizashi, he sat down next to him.

“Alright. Now let’s see how good this coffee really is.” Hizashi smiled at that, unpacking one of his biscuits and taking a bite out of it.

“These are pretty good!” Hizashi hummed. Shouta nodded as he took a sip of the hot beverage, better than his current place he regularly goes to, until his husband started giggling.

“What?” the dark haired man raised an eye-brow.

“Nothing, Azawa.” Hizashi started laughing even harder. Shouta lifted the cup up to his eyes and low and behold, the kid misspelled his name, he shrugged it off anyways.

This was probably just a one time thing.

Until it wasn’t.

Each time he went back, the misspellings got weirder and weirder, and it was only when he had that green-haired kid as a barista. He even started walking home one time, checked the cup and ‘Alzawanta’ was replaced with ‘Aizawa’.

He knew the barista was messing with him at this point on purpose, but he didn’t exactly mind. If he could get this good coffee every day, what’s the harm in letting the barista have a little fun? Plus, he also knew how stressful customer service jobs could be from back in his youth.

--

This time, Hizashi was walking with him to the cafe, only to see the green haired boy, Midoriya Izuku, he’d learned, sitting down in one of the booths in a black gakuran, looking worn out and just freshly patched up from injuries.

Shouta and his husband ordered their usuals plus bubble tea and proceeded to sit down with Midoriya.

“Hey, little listener! We noticed you looked down, so we got you something!” Hizashi smiled and Midoriya smiled back.

“T-thank you! You really didn’t h-have to, though.” Midoriya still accepted the tea anyways.

“So kid, tell us what’s bothering you if you want to, we’re here.”

Midoriya looked surprised at this, slowly starting to share his story. They all learned a lot about each other that day.

All for the price of good coffee, huh?
