If luck was on their side

Summary:

Ash's pulse was rising. He had to hurry. He couldn't get there too late. He just couldn't. The time was running out. His breath speeding up, his hair flying in the wind and his body filled with adrenaline.

Or, an ending where Ash got to the airport :)
Oneshot!

Work Text:

Ash's pulse was rising. He had to hurry. He couldn't get there too late. He just couldn't. The time was running out. His breath speeding up, his hair flying in the wind and his body filled with adrenaline.

He tightened his grip on the letter in his hand. He couldn't wait to see Eiji again. He wanted to adore his beautiful smile one more time. He thought he would never go see him again, but maybe this was fate? Originally, he planned to stay away from Eiji to keep him save, but was this really what they both wanted?

They meant the world to each other, so why would Ash just ignore the plain ticket Eiji had put into the envelope. They had talked about going to Japan together, but deep down, Ash thought this cruel world would never let him do so, but of course he never told Eiji about that. Maybe that was a good thing. He probably wouldn't have written that letter then.

Maybe the universe didn't hate Ash as much as Ash thought it did? Ash had always believed
'Fate is cruel and it only wants me to experience pain and agony.'
But then he met Eiji. Like an angel descending from heaven. Like an angel who had come to earth to save Ash from his miserable life. Ash's legs were hurting from the running, but still kept going.

After running for something that felt like forever, he finally saw it. The airport. It was filled with hundreds of people, but Ash couldn't care less. All he wanted was to see Eiji right now. He knew today was going to be a good day. No. He knew this was gonna be the start of a good future. A future he was gonna spend with the person that meant the world to him. He didn't know why, but Eiji made him feel so safe and loved.

Ash was breathless from all of the running. His throat was burning. He was currently not in his best physical form. That's what you get from messing with a mafia, and for trying to expose their secrets. Stabbed, shot and held hostage.
Damn.
All of this bullshit. He still felt guilty for putting Eiji in this big fucking mess of his. Because of him, Eiji had been kidnapped several times. He'd gotten shot too. How could Eiji ever forgive him? How could he look at Ash with such an innocent look? He knew what Ash had done in his past, but he still treated Ash as if he was just a person who deserved nothing, but happiness and love. He didn't deserve to have an angel like him in his life.

Ash pushed the entrance door and started looking around. So many people.. How was he gonna find Eiji in time? Or maybe the flight had already left?

"EIJI!" he shouted.
No response.
"God fucking damn it" Ash thought. He was looking from the left to the right while moving further into the airport. So many people were blocking his way. Couldn't they see that he was in a hurry?! He just hoped he wasn't too late. What if he was though?

But suddenly.

There he was.

The man he was looking for. He was talking with Ibe, but Eiji instantly noticed that something around him was different. Eiji turned his head around. Was that who he thought it was? Eiji's face lit up and he slipped into a loud yell.

"ASH!!" Eiji was waiving at him. He wasn't actually allowed to move that much. His body was still vulnerable and weak from when he got shot, but he didn't care.

"EIJI!!" Ash started smiling back. He was on the verge of crying. Ash's feet started moving from the ground. He began to walk quicker. Soon it became running.

All of his fears and bad memories had left his body. Tears were rolling down his cheeks, his eyes burning as the time stood still. Gentle arms wrapped around him as his own arms wrapped themselves around something warm and cosy. Ash wanted to stay like this forever. Him embracing Eiji in his arms. It had taken Ash so long to find someone that made him feel safe and sound. He was finally where he's supposed to be.

"Ash! You actually came." A smile spread on Eiji's face.
"I thought you wouldn't show up for a second. Don't scare me like that again!"
"Of course I came. I want to see your hometown so why wouldn't I show up?" Ash giggled.
He wasn't actually planning on going earlier, but now that he was finally here, he couldn't believe he even questioned this.

Eiji giggled. "Let's go home, Ash."
