It Was Kind

Summary:

It's really just a kinda sappy and sweet story about these two dorks.
It's also slightly about the intimacy I think they would share.

Notes:

Okay so I'm running off my limited watch of the Anime [Currently, On Skypeia] my knowledge of the characters through other One Piece Media's, like the several games. And also my friend. Who has caught up on the most recent episodes and basically told me like everything about them. [He also tries to read the Manga chapters as much as possible] He basically bullied me into posting this. So it's Gifted to him. I hope you enjoy.

Work Text:

Law held Killer down by the shoulders.
Killer looked up at Law through his mask. Law looked as dead serious as ever. No tears, no emotion. But his eyes. His dark eyes were filled with the worry and fear that he hid from his face.
"Killer-ya. Why did you do that?" He chastised, his voice calm yet furious.
"... Kid."
"Even Eustass-ya wouldn't want you to do that." His voice showed more hurt this time.
"I. I understand. But I'm fine. Not hurt."
"But you could have been! You don't get it do you! If that blow had landed you would have been dead. Even if I tried to do something about it!" He was breaking a little. He forced himself together with shuddering breath's
"Traf- Law. I'm sorry."
Law knew. Law knew that for Killer to say sorry was something that took a lot. He wanted to cry into Killer's chest. Killer took a quick look around, and slipped off his mask, to hold Law. Giving him a gentle kiss. Law had to wipe his lips, to make sure the blue lipstick wouldn't stay on there.
"You...?"
"I told you I loved you. And I will always continue to do so. I did this for Kid. Who will always be my most important person. But I love you. Law."
Law broke. Tears welling up in his eyes. To him, this felt like betrayal of his body. To let emotion get the better of him.
He laid in Killer's chest, Tears running down his face. Silent. Hands curled in the fabric of his shirt. Killer put his mask back on, and sat back up, making sure the Punishers can't hurt Law. The battle may have stopped for now in this area. But Killer was on high alert, with Law basically incapacitated in his chest. He let Law sob. Knowing Law would need it, and that he would keep Law safe. Even if it put his own life at risk.
When Law got back up, wiping his eyes. Killer gave him a smile through his mask.

Law could tell When Killer smiled for a genuine reason. Even if he couldn't see it.

The fight raged on. The Straw Hats now getting involved. Making the battle take a unbelievable turn. As is the way with them joining. Law knows that well. Killer and Him went back to the battle, joining their respective crews.
Law kept looking. He was distracted. Glancing towards Killer. Who was alongside Kid. Killer and Kid always fought side by side. Kid trusted Killer with his life. Killer did the same. Law knew he was stepping into a relationship that had been together for years. He could never tell what they actually were at this point.
All he knew is that Killer had confessed to him months ago. In his own weird way.

His mind wandered to the memory. He remembered getting off the Tang. At an island he can't quite remember. He was getting some sunshine and Air. Not of his own volition. Bepo, Penguin, and Shachi, basically forced him out of the Tang. They followed him out, and stayed nearby to make sure he got adequate time outside. And you know what. They were right. It's good for your health to be outside. Especially when cooped up in the Tang for as long as he has. They may be annoying, but they care for him.
"But why is the Victoria Punk here. What the fuck." He thought to himself, getting closer to the Kid Pirates Vessel. Then, before he could even think anything else. He got pinned to the nearest Tree, by Killer, brandishing only one of his Punishers.
"Trafalgar."
"Killer-ya."
"I'm actually glad you're here."
"Oh? Finally gonna kill me? End the Carefully crafted peace that we created with our Crews?" The sarcasm practically dripping from his voice, he was daring Killer to do it.
"No. Something else. I'm just making sure you're listening." Killer's voice was quiet and low.
"Huh?" Law remembered he couldn't believe his ears with the next sentence.
"I wanted to let you know. I'm in love with you."
And before he could respond to the fluffy masked blonde, he took his Punisher out of the Tree, and started walking back to his ship and Crew.
Leaving Law in a dazed state. Filled with Joy and confusion. Why did he feel so, happy Killer said that?
"Wait! Killer-ya!" He said. Killer was a little ways away when be snapped out of it.
"Hm?" Killer turned back towards him.
"You can't just say that and walk away!"
That's the first time he could tell about the smile.

The battle continued around him. He got snapped out of his sappy memories with a yell from Luffy. Calling out one of his move names.
Killer was blocking blows for Kid from behind, as Kid also did the same for Killer.
Law got back to the battle, he couldn't afford to be as sappy as he had been. This was battle! If he slacked off everything could be worse! But his stance was wrong and his brain wouldn't shake the wonderfully warm feeling memory.

Killer knew that Law was distracted by something. He could tell in the stance he did in battle. He wasn't as focused. He wasn't trying to do what he would usually. Law Kept looking back at him.
He needed to talk to him. But that had to wait until after. Someone took a swing hoping to at least Injure them both, but Killer blocked, concentrating on what was in front of him.

The foe was defeated by the dumb luck of Luffy and his crew. Along with the backup of the Kid Pirates and Heart Pirates.
Killer took the time that everyone was celebrating to slip off. Knowing that Kid was getting drunk off his ass with everyone else. He went close to the Tang, where he knew Law would be.
Law wasn't really one for Parties.
"Law."
"Killer-ya. You almost scared me." The smile in Law's voice was almost the sweetest thing he could hear
"That's a lie." He smiled under his mask at the comment Law made. "Anyways. You were spaced out again. What was going on? You weren't fully there during battle."
"Dangerous. I know. But I was thinking about you." Law got a little cheesy tone to his voice, along with the smile. He almost sounded giddy.
"Sap." Killer teased.
"Hey! I was thinking about when you out of the Blue confessed to me!" Law gave a mock anger tone to him.
"What about a day later when you teleported onto the Punk and confessed back? Only to leave me with a smirk on my face and your face hot?" He wrapped his arms around Law's shoulders.
"Oh shut it Killer-ya!" Law gave a playful hit to the chest.
"No." He almost chuckled again. He held Law again, doing a quick check before revealing his face to Law. Giving him some gentle and sweet kisses. The blue lipstick smearing on Law's Lips.
Law was so utterly in love with him that it made Killer feel wanted and needed in a sense that only Kid had been able to make him feel before. It was a warm encompassing feeling. It wrapped around him like a blanket and took residence in his heart. He was almost devoted to Law, and it took less time than it did with Kid.

Kid will always be his number 1. Law knows this about him. Kid is literally the person he spent his life with in the South Blue. But Law is the closest thing to number one in his life now. He's almost afraid that if he had to choose, he couldn't. He would hesitate between Kid and Law. And yet. He wouldn't have it any other way. He didn't want it to be any other way. He didn't want to ever have to choose between the two people he loved the most, the ones he knew loved him back.
He held Law close. Law looking at him with the most gentle expression. Law putting a hand on his face. He leaned into the touch. He almost craved the touch constantly, and the loving looks Law gave him when alone. The gentle smiles.
He loved running his hands over Law. Touching the lower back. The shoulders. The back of his head. He loved thinking about the Tattoo's that were all over Law's body as he did this. And the intimacy that came with knowing about them.

Law Invited him onto the Tang. Just for some more private intimacy. Being held on his own ship always made Law happy. Killer was happy to oblige. He relaxes in the Tang. Letting Law touch his hair, and his arms. Almost falling asleep as Law gently kissed him. On the cheeks. The lips. His palms. Law's movements were methodical and almost rigid. He always looked over Killer with a medic's eye first, a lover's second. That was part of his intimacy. The care that came with his medical job, even if self imposed and self taught to a degree, he always used his skills as a doctor to show love. Acts of service. His own love language was a silent show of trust. Allowing Law to do as he pleases, trusting he won't be hurt. That was the most intimate thing he could give.
He gave himself up to allow his partner to care for him. Baring his throat, knowing his partner won't tear it out. He trusted Law with his secrets. Everything that he knew. He told Law about what happened in the South Blue. Why he and Kid met. Why they are so close.
Law had told him similar things. About his childhood. Amber Lead. His family, his home, Rosinante Donquixote, the story behind his fruit. Fully baring his heart to Killer. Killer taking his heart, and holding it as if it was a treasured and cherished gift. Trying to show Law that he wanted to reciprocate the love that Law shows him. The soft trust.
He was hoping Law understood.

Law understood what Killer had told him. Silently. The way he always said the most important things.
His body language.
The amount he allowed himself to relax on the Polar Tang. Watching his shoulders go down. How he just allowed Law to see the most secretive part of him. His face. The most beautiful part of him was the best hidden. He knew Killer was insecure about it. But he knew Killer wanted intimacy. The kisses. The hand to his face. Even seeing his eyes felt like something that was exhilarating and intimate. He knew Killer wanted intimacy with someone other than Kid. He gave Killer what he wanted and more.
He laid into Killer's chest. Killers hands going to his back. He gave himself time to breathe. To think. How lucky he is to have Killer. A man willing to breathe and be in the moment with him. Even if that moment takes longer than what it was supposed to.
It really doesn't help that while in the Tang, you can't see the sun going down.
The candles melt down. And the oil burns in the lanterns. The day that had been punctuated by a battle slips to night. People retiring to their vessels after cleaning up a minimal amount of the celebrations.
The Victoria Punk was missing its second mate, and the Polar Tang couldn't reach its Captain. Heat and Wire became responsible for their captain, who was drunk.
Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin took it upon themselves to make sure that everything was fine before closing up the Tang for the night.
Killer and Law both sat in a darkened room, eyes closed, breathing steady and soft. They had fallen asleep together. Both of them blaming the other, with no malice behind the blame. Only a gentle tease.
And the night was still. With the sound of the waves, the creaking of wood and metal, and the sounds of animals of the island to make it peaceful. And to Law and Killer?
It was Kind.
