SUBJECT: Reminder on Dress Code
Happy Monday, Branch 14 Fam!
Just a quick & friendly reminder: yoga pants and any other stretchy/form-fitting clothing does not abide by our dress code. It does not matter if your yoga pants are black. Per our handbook, you have to wear either dress slacks or skirts that go below the knee.
Directorial staff have placed a complaint against this recent trend. Any further wardrobe misconduct will result in a written warning.
Thank you! Have a fabulous and productive week! :)

SUBJECT: Upcoming Requested PTO and/or WFH
Good morning,
As per previous months, I once again need to request PTO for 12/3 and 12/17 so that I can provide transportation for my husband to his medical procedures. Unfortunately, these dates are not flexible. I understand that we’re on a timeline to launch the holiday drive on the 17th, so please let me know if you need me to do WFH on either day.
Thank you once again for your patience and flexibility. It is massively appreciated, as always. Per my last evaluation, I want to make sure that I am fully communicative to you of my scheduling needs.
Please let me know if you need me to take on remote weekend hours to compensate for any time that I am unable to keep an eye on our servers.
Best,

Absolutely. I was so sorry to hear the news on Komaeda’s condition. Go ahead and send me a PTO request through your time card and I’ll have it approved.
I do not want to make any speculation on your personal life, but please remember that FMLA is always an available option to you by way of your husband’s PCP. If you want more information, let me know and I’ll have Asahina get in touch with you on getting the right paperwork together.
Are you available sometime this week for lunch? I’d like to discuss ways we can work out additional accommodations for you, maybe implement a Mon/Wed WFH schedule?
Please keep me posted and let me know by COB on lunch so I can block out the time.
All the best,
Naegi, Makoto

SUBJECT: Branch 14 Holiday Party RSVP Req + Secret Santa
Good afternoon, Branch 14! Happy Hump Day!
Just a friendly heads-up that I’ll be running around and collecting names for our annual Secret Santa! If you want to participate, just fill out the informational card and drop it off at my desk by Friday, COB. It’s not mandatory, but it’s a fun way to get into the holiday spirit. :)
In regards to our annual holiday party, once again the Towa Marriott has very generously offered to act as our venue. Of course, this does have the caveat of limited capacity. So, just like last year, please leave the kids at home and limit your guests to your spouse or partner (or good friend!).
Catering will be provided. As such, please let me know by 12/16 whether or not you’ll be attending, including if you are planning to bring a plus one. I’ll need to submit an accurate headcount to the venue by 12/17.
Thank you, everyone! Good luck pushing through the rest of the week! You’re all AMAZING! We’re already on a fast-track to breaking our monthly donation record from last December!
Take care, everyone! :)

SUBJECT: Silver Hyundai – Lights
Howdy folks,
Looking at our state-of-the-art security cams of the parking lot, looks like whoever has the silver Hyundai left their headlights on. If that sounds like your car, you might want to check that out.
Unrelated but also: to whoever keeps stealing my canned dolmas from the third-floor break room, I know who you are. Quit it.
Peace,

Kaz, this is my work email. Either text me or use my personal email ([email protected])
FYI, all of my correspondence via work is monitored. For the record, your ‘business’ email address leaves a lot to be desired in terms of professionalism. Please check your texts for some suggestions on alternative handles.

Hi Hajime, I attached Poetry Foundations’ daily poem for today for you to read during lunch, Craig Arnold’s “Bird-Understander” - it made me think of you.

You used the wrong email again, Nags. Is the laptop still doing that autofill trash again? I can fix it when I get home. And before you say anything, don’t worry about not using the personal. It happens.
Text me if you want me to pick anything up. Thai sound ok? Whatever works w you
I love you.

SUBJECT: Notice: All-Hands 12/10 1500 Hours
Branch 14,
As the subject implies, please note that there is a scheduled All-Hands tomorrow afternoon. All-Hands meetings are, as always, mandatory. I will be taking attendance. Any one who is not accounted for will be hearing from me personally unless a note of absence has been submitted and approved beforehand.
I have zero tolerance for no-shows. Tardiness will result in a verbal reprimand.

Howdy, Troops!
Brought in a couple dozen donuts. They’re in the second-floor break room. Free-for-all. Free to a good home. Just don’t make a mess or I’ll have to clean it up.

SUBJECT: Branch 14 Holiday Party RSVP Req LAST CALL
Good morning, Branch 14!
It’s 12/16! Anyone who hasn’t RSVP’d for the holiday party and was planning on going, please make sure you reply to this email by COB today! I can’t stress this enough: if you don’t RSVP, you don’t get to come.
So, let’s save any potential heartache. To anyone who hasn’t replied at all, I’ll have HR staff come by and ask you face-to-face if you’re planning on going or not. So, please, just let me know.
Thanks, everyone! I’ll get off my soap box now. Take care and have an AWESOME day! :)

“You’re up awfully early, Haji.” Nagito shuffled in from the bedroom, bleary-eyed and woozy in his boxers.
Hajime didn’t look up from his laptop screen. He sat half-naked and cross-legged on the sofa, his spine hunched in an Igor-like contortion that looked downright painful. “Couldn’t sleep,” he muttered, “just trying to clean out my inbox for the new year. I don’t know. Fresh start, I guess.”
The living room was pitch dark with the pale blue of the laptop screen shining against Hajime’s two-toned eyes. His fingers kept running over the keys.
Nagito watched him for a moment, feeling less awake and more just full-on sleep drunk. “You can do that tomorrow, you know.”
“I know, I know.” Hajime kept up with typing.
There was no helping it. Nagito blundered himself over to the sofa and all but fell against Hajime’s side. He nestled his cheek into the canyon of his husband’s neck and capped it off with a kiss to the ear.
“Careful with your PICC line, bubs.” Hajime turned away from the screen just long enough to kiss the bridge of Nagito’s nose. “You should go back to bed. I’ll be there in a sec, okay?”
“Hm.” Nagito didn’t really want to think about the catheter taped up on the underside of his arm. As long as he didn’t press on it, it just Stayed Put, a bruise of a reminder that made him want to shrivel up. “Come with me?”
Hajime’s sigh was a drawn-out and weary one. “Okay… fine. Alright.” He closed the laptop with a firm click, and the room was washed in darkness.
