Chapter Text
The Sun shines over the courtyard in Hyrule Castle where Link and Zelda stood looking at each other. Link explains to Zelda about how Ganondorf will claim the triforce for himself once Link uses the Spiritual stones to open the Door of Time to enter the Sacred Realm. However the triforce will split into three and Ganondorf will have only the triforce of power but will still be able to conquer Hyrule. However Link for the time being did not tell her about how he knew about the future, just the facts about what Ganondorf's plan was. He did not want to tell her about what happen after he went to the Temple of Time and when he pulled the Master Sword from the pedestal. After he was finish telling Zelda his story she stood still and silent for a few moments before finally speaking.
“So when you pulled out the sword you had a vision of Ganondorf's plan and you saw him enter the Sacred Realm where he took the triforce? Zelda asked
“Yes” Link answered
“ And when he dose the triforce splits into three pieces where he only holds only one part of the triforce?
“Yeah...” Said Link as he looked to the ground.
“And you and me have the other two, Link would you have some proof that you have a piece?”
Link looked back to Zelda and said “Yes, yes I can” he held the back of his right hand in the air for Zelda to see. It lit up with the triforce symbol, as it happen the back of Zelda's right hand lit up as well almost as if it was reacting to one another. Zelda gasp in disbelief as she look down at the symbol on her hand. After a moment both symbols faded away and Link put his hand down.
Zelda look at Link “Link...” she started “This is amazing!!! As she clapped her hands together.
“Wait, what...” Link said taken aback by Zelda's sudden reaction.
“This is exactly what we needed to prove that we were right.” she said as she walked closer to Link “We need to inform my farther, Impa and the Hylain Soldiers about this, to arrest Ganondorf and then finally we can bring peace back to Hyrule again.” She was starting to tear up and she threw her arms around Link hugging him.
“Th-Thank you Link... for everything.” she said
“Oh..um...yeah your welcome” said Link as he hugged he back. He felt guilty for not telling her the full story but was glad see she was happy. Just then Zelda realise something.
“Hey wheres Navi? She asked
“Gone... she fulfilled her purpose so she left...” He said with a sad face.
“Oh... I'm so sorry.” She apologise
Just then a women with short silver white hair step into the courtyard and saw the two of them hugging. She smile at the two of them.
“So I see our little hero has return its good to see you Link.” The women said
Link and Zelda both went wide-eyed pulled apart from there hug both blushing. Link cleared his throat. “Its good to see you too!” Link said patting his back.
“Oh gosh Impa, I have exciting news!” Zelda said with joy. She told Impa everything that Link told her.
“I see... so our original plan was doomed from the beginning.” Impa said softly. Link back away to to give them sometime to talk with themselves.
“If all of this is true and Link and you both have a part of the triforce.” Impa lowered her head “Then Ganondorf has the last triforce in his possession...”
But that won't matter, Link just got back from the Temple of Time Ganondorf would not have gotten far you can still catch him before he dose any more harm!” Zelda exclaimed. Impa looked at Zelda.
“Yes. Don't worry Zelda, I'll send out some soldiers to track down Ganondorf, i'll inform them immediately.”
“Thanks Impa!” Zelda said thankfully
Link smiled at them. Then turn and began to walk to the exit of the courtyard. Zelda turn and saw Link walking away.
“Link? Where are you going?” She ask in concern. Link stopped walking and turn around to look at her.
“Back to Kokiri Forest.” He answered
“What!” Zelda said in shock. “Why?”
“I've done what I was told to do by the Great Deku Tree... There is nothing left for me here now.” Link explained
“Link your a Hylian, you don't belong in the forest.”
“It's the only home I have. Without it I have nothing.” Link told Zelda.
“No Link I-I don't want you to go!” Zelda has become very fond of Link. She felt like things wont be the same without him if he left. She had no other friends beside him, she would be lonely again and she knew that Link would be lonely to. She started to think of what to do to help. Just then she knew what to do.
“You-you could stay here and live in the castle with us.” She said pleading him to stay.
Link went red in the face. “You...I...you want me to stay in the castle? But I'm not royal, I'm not even a soldier.”
“Not even a soldier?!” Zelda was surprise that Link would ever think of something like that. “ Link your more of a soldier then anyone here. You've earn the trust on the tribes across the land. You help stopped a terrible disaster from ever happening.”
“Yeah...terrible disaster.” Link said with a frowned
“Look Link I know you. Your a good person and I will never abandon you. If you stay we could hang out all the time. We could play in the markets, sit on the grass and watch the clouds and play songs I... I would like that.” She said desperately
Link smiled at her. “Yeah... I would too... all I can say is... Thanks... Zelda.” He said lost for words.
Zelda smiled back and turn to look at Impa. She nodded.
“Very well.” Impa agreed
“This is great thanks Impa!” Zelda exclaimed
“Oh wait are there any spare bedrooms for me in the castle?” Link asked
Zelda laugh at his comment “Of course there is silly.” She started walking towards Link
“Let's go and I'll show you.”
“In the meantime I'll go and inform the guards about our plan to search for Ganondorf.” Impa said as she was preparing to leave. Link and Zelda look at her with grins.
“Right!” They both said together. Zelda looked back to Link surprise that they said the same at once. They both smiled.
“I'll speak with you two later. Take care.” Impa said as she left the courtyard leaving the two alone.
“Let's not waste time!” Zelda said with excitement as she grabbed Link's hand. “I'll show you to your room!” She runs out of the courtyard pulling Link's hand.
“Whoa! Ok! Can we slow down? Link exclaimed

Link and Zelda walked through the halls of Hyrule castle passing portraits of the royal family's ancestors and Hylian soldiers on patrol. Some gaurds were curious about the green tunic boy, but said nothing to him while others were whispering to each other as they passed. Link was slightly irritated by it but choose to ignore them.
“Don't worry about them.” Zelda reassured
“I know.” Link replied. A thought came to Link. “You never told me how you escape from Ganondorf last night I thought he was still pursuing you and Impa?” “Oh well where do I start?” Zelda thought for a moment how to explain. “”I will start with when Ganondorf attacked, I was standing on the balcony outside my room waiting for you to return when Impa came and told me that we must leave, apparently my father let him stay in the castle.” Zelda told Link. “His plan was to kill me and take the Ocarina of Time during the night while everyone was asleep.” “He wouldn't dare!” Link exclaimed. Zelda nodded though. “I'm afraid so but thanks to Impa we got to the castle's horse stables just before Ganondorf found us and took off, and thats when I saw you at the town's gate so I threw the Ocarina to you I knew that it was safe with you I'm glad he did not kill you.” She glanced over to Link. “I-I was scared for you, I was afraid that it was going to be the last time I see you.” She said holding back tears. “Me too.” Link replied. “But when you showed up back at the courtyard the sight of seeing you again filled me with joy.” She said proudly. “Oh but I'm getting off track am I, so after I threw you the ocarina we moved on eventually we notice that Ganondorf was not chasing us anymore so we came back to the castle and Impa informed my father about the attack Ganondorf tried to pull off. I was watching my father and Impa through the window in the courtyard as they were discussing the matter and that was when you showed up and informed me about what Ganondorf has planned for the future.” Zelda finished her story and turned back around and walked on.
Link looked to the ground with a sad face. He started to remember how he travelled seven years across through time, where he challenged Ganondorf to battle that would determine the fate of the world and Link was victorious. However after the battle was over Zelda offer to return Link back to his original time to regain he lost childhood and by doing so there connection between times will close. Link also started thinking how he would be remembered as a hero in that time and how Zelda in that timeline will never see him again because she wanted him to live out the rest of his childhood that he missed. Link was filled with grief. He closed his eyes, wanting to cry but did his best to hold it in.
Zelda looked over her shoulder and saw Link's expression on his face that made her worry.
“Link... is everything alright... you look pale and sad?" Zelda asked concern for her friend she care about.
Link open his eyes to look at her. “I'm fine...”
Zelda stopped walking and turned around to face him. “You sure?”
Link knew it was wrong to keep secrets. But he felt that it was best for her not to know. He believed that if he told her what happened she would be devastated and be ashamed with herself for what she done. How she put him in dangerous situations that were necessary, blamed herself for Hyrule's fate and how she would never be able to see him again because she sent him back to where he is now.
“I'm fine.” He repeated firmly while turn his head away unable to make eye contact. “Let's just go all I need is some rest.” he said as he walked on ahead
Zelda stood where she was confused and worried “Link...”

The sun was almost setting over Hyrule. Link and Zelda had reach a hall lit up by a numerous torches on the 3rd floor of the castle, there were a number doors to rooms on each side of the hall. Zelda stop in front of one of the doors in the middle of the hall.
“This here will be your room from now on. I do hope that you will fine it comfortable.” She opened the door revealing a small bedroom. It had a queen size bed with a red blanket, a wardrobe stood in the corner beside a mirror, on the floor there was carpet that look like it is made of Wolfos skin and a window. Link looked through the window. He could see the market lit up but lamp post and lights coming from villagers homes it looked so beautiful at night. He then walked over to his bed laid down on it and looked up at the ceiling.
“Wow. This is what your beds are like? I do find it comfortable!" Link lifted himself up slightly. "Zelda I-I don't know how I can thank you for all you have done for me.”
“Oh don't worry you don't have to really.” She said smiling. “You done so much for this land and for me too. I can't imaging what the world would have become without you.” Link grew very still and silent. Zelda cleared her throat.
“So anyway Link can I ask you something.” She asked
“Um sure what is it?”
“Tomorrow do you... do you wanna go to the markets.” Zelda said.
“The markets? Well yeah I'll be happy to do that.” Link answered.
Zelda eyes lit up. “Brilliant! Oh if you get up before me just knock on my door in the morning.”
“What but I don't know where you room is.” Link said.
“Oh it's just the door across the hall.” Zelda replied pointing her thumb over her shoulder. Link's eyes went big.
“Well that is convenient. Well I should get some rest.” Link said
“Ok well I'll leave you to it.” Zelda walked out of the room and put her hand on the doorknob. "Goodnight Link”
“Night Zelda.” Link immediately collapse on the bed and in seconds was asleep snoring.
Zelda giggle at the sight of him sleeping he looked so adorable. After she close the door her face changed. She was feeling troubled. “I need to see Impa.”

Down in a Cellar Impa had inform some guards who were relaxed and sitting down at a table drink wine to go out to look for Ganondorf.
“You want us to start searching now? But Lady Impa its late.” One of the guards said
“Yeah can't it be done tomorrow morning? The night is too dangerous for us to find a man.” Another guard said.
Impa slammed her fist on the table. “You fools!” All the guards froze, one made a soft squeal.
“The longer he is out there roaming free the more dangerous he will become, and it won't be long till he finds a new plan to overcome us do you understand?!"
“All the guards looked at each other. Then the captain spoke. "Very well. Where shall we begin?
“Gerudo Desert. He could have retreated back to his fortress but I must insist that you take full cautious.” Impa said firmly
“Right! Men you heard the orders let's get moving now go! Go!” The Captain ordered some of the soldiers groan but did what they where told they all got out of there seats, grabbed their swords, spears and shields and ran up the circular staircase. Impa rubbed her hand against her forehead groan with annoyance.
Impa? A small voice called out to her from the staircase. Impa looked up and saw Zelda standing there.
“Princess? What are you doing down here? You should be in bed by this time.” Impa said as Zelda walked over to her. “I have a concern.” She responded.
“Concern?” Impa was confuse.” About Ganondorf?” Zelda shook her head.
“About Link.” She said. Impa was even more confuse.
“Impa... there is something different about Link now.” She looked at her hand where the tirforce mark was. “Ever since he came back from the Temple of Time he has been acting weird.”
“You sure he is not just worried that Ganondorf is still out there? He did get away for now. Link might just be mad that he escape or maybe he is worried that he will hunt him down for the triforce. I wouldn't blame him for being scared.” Impa reassured. But Zelda did not seem convince.
“But in the hallway as we were going to his room he almost cried... I don't think Ganondorf escaping would make him cry. He is always determine to find away to stop him.”
Impa place her hand on Zelda's shoulder. “Zelda you worry about the boy and that's fine I don't know what he is feeling but I'm sure if there is a serious problem he would tell you.”
Zelda was still not fully convinced she knew Link would not be sad for nothing but what could it be.
Zelda was lost in thought. “Zelda? Impa called out to her. “I think for now you just need to put your mind at rest. For now we need to focus on more important matters. You should head to you room now.”
“Oh right sorry. Goodnight Impa.” Zelda turned around and left the cellar.
“Zelda.”
Zelda looked back to Impa. “While on the subject, you and Link must not tell anyone about the triforce. Otherwise it might lead back to Ganondorf and then he will hunt you down.”
Her words spooked Zelda. But she knew she was right. If Ganondorf found out, Link and herself would be in danger. “I understand, not a word.” Zelda turn and left the room.
While walking up the stairs she was still thinking to herself. Where was Ganondorf now? What was bothering Link so much. She prayed that all was well.
