Chapter 1: Final Fantasy IX
Summary:
The prompt for this chapter was "Final Fantasy IX, Zidane + Mikoto + Kuja, family get-together"
Chapter Text
To be completely honest, when Kuja thought he'd laid dying, part of him had wished that he'd been better to the other Genomes. Not a big part, mind you, since he was mostly in extreme agony and emotionally broken with his latest failure; but when Zidane had sat with him, even used his own body to shield him, part of him ached for a bond he knew he'd been robbed of--by their creator and by his own deeds.
And yet, despite surviving almost purely by Zidane's obstinance, he wasn't quite sure how he was going to avoid homicide as Mikoto sat, softly reading aloud from a book, while Zidane sat on the other side of his sickbed and smirked as he said "see, now, ain't this just cozy?"
Chapter 2: IT (2019)
Summary:
The prompt was "It (Movies), Ben/Beverly, and she will be loved".
Chapter Text
Whenever he finds a new scar on her, he can tell in an instant which were accidents and which were marks to try and claim her. But Beverly isn't meant to be caught--you either run with her or fail at running after her.
Ben, however, is very good at running and they'll hold hands as they run, stride for stride.
Chapter 3: IT (2019) CW: Canonical Character Death+Bury Your Gays
Summary:
Prompt for this one was "It (Movies), Richie/Eddie, role reversal". Warnings for the Bury Your Gays trope that's, well, just canon.
Chapter Text
Eddie finds the letters on the bridge by accident, his fingers tracing over the worn carving by chance as his hand absently trailed across the grain of the wood. He can't know for sure if this was really a message left for him, but as he kneels down, he thinks of what Richie whispered, down in the dark as he bled out, and digs out a knife.
"Me too, Rich," he whispers, finally getting to say the words as he carves the letters deeper, so they'll remain until the wood at last rots away.
Chapter 4: The Little Mermaid, Carve your own happy ending
Summary:
Prompt: "The Little Mermaid, Prince/Princess/Mermaid, happy ending"
Chapter Text
Just before the wedding, the mermaid sits all alone and weeps--or at least she does until suddenly a gentle hand startles her as it wipes away her tears. The princess looks at her, eyes so unbearably kind, and says "here now. You are lovely even in tears, but they don't suit you anymore than they do myself. My prince has told me you do not speak with words, but maybe we can find a way around it. Wouldn't that be better than crying?"
And it is, and finally the mermaid tells her story. Things abruptly change after that--the wedding is postponed, but not cancelled, and the Prince holds her so warmly while the princess braids the hair out the mermaid's face that all the heartache seems worth it.
The wedding does proceed, but there is much talk about how quickly the Prince takes a mistress, and then there is even more talk about the Princess has taken up with that mistress as well. But the cruel gossip is below the happy trio, and it matters not anyway. The three have each other and is that not enough?
Chapter 5: Arthurian Legend, CW: Adultery
Summary:
Prompt: "Arthurian mythology, Lancelot, he never loved Guinevere, he was using her to become (in)famous"
Chapter Text
Will anyone remember Sir Gawain or any of his brothers? Sir Dinadan? Percival? No, of course not--the name that echoes thorough out time is going to be Arthur, the noble king who united the green isles under a single banner.
And Guinevere, the beautiful queen.
But not the faithful--let the others hitch their names to Arthur's coattails. No, Lancelot knows that if he wants true immortality, he's going to do it by linking his name to hers.
His name will be spoken in the centuries to come, even if it's hissed out as the name of a villain.
Chapter 6: Dracula
Notes:
Prompt: "Dracula, any, modern!au"

Greetings from Bistrița, Mina and anyone else whose watching. It's still so—amazing? Astounding? I don't know—that anyone else is watching these videos at all. Anyway, Mina, sorry that this video is getting to you late... you were right. The train was late in Munich, but! But, in my defense, since when are the trains in Germany late? Okay, you can stop laughing now.
So, the trip's going great—I know I don't look it. The train's beds are great and all, but I guess I just don't sleep well on them. So, unfortunately, since the train was late, I didn't get to see much of Budapest. After the wedding, we should come back though—the rates at the hotel we booked are really great and, oh, that reminds me, Mina, you'd have loved the supper they served. It was this chicken dish with, like, paprika—anyway, I'm sending you the recipe. I know you would have killed me if I didn't get it for you. I'm looking forward to see you make it in one of your videos—oh, and Lucy, if you're watching this, oceans of love to you too.
Anyways, about the trip—we're making up for lost time. I think I'll be able to actually meet this client of mine tomorrow night. I don't know why this Count insists on meeting so late, but, eh, the customer's always right. It's the oddest thing, you know, though. It seems that every person I meet who I mention the Count to, they always have the strangest reactions...
Chapter 7: Frozen
Notes:
Prompt: "Frozen II, Elsa/any, the avatar of nature's balance is an awkward turtle on dates"
The identity of Elsa's date is kept purposefully vague, so imagine whoever you want.
Chapter Text
"-and we will meet at the southern gate in forty minutes, so I need to make sure that I leave in ten minutes. We planned to go to the stall selling mulled cider first-"
"Elsa," Anna laughs, "this is the fourth time you've gone over this. You'll be fine!"
"Oh? Oh, yes, probably--I just want to be prepared for--Oh! Where are those mints? I don't want bad breath-"
Kristoff blinks, looking away from where the ice has slowly covered the entire window in carefully symmetrical designs to the pacing woman before them. "Do you really need the mints? Unless you're planning on kissing, I guess."
For a moment, Elsa goes stock still. Then all the ice in the room melts instantly, soaking the carpets. The former queen can only gasp in horror as her blushing face pales. "My shoes-!"
Anna glares and smacks his shoulder. He can only shrug and mutter "whoops."
Chapter 8: Dracula
Notes:
Prompt: "Dracula, any, Lucy lives"
Chapter Text
It's Quincey who catches Lucy's mother about to hurl the garlic flowers out the window; there's a terrible row about it, but Quincey is too stubborn and too loyal to Mina for even the most well meaning matron to talk around, so Lucy does not die that night. Nor does she die any night after that since everyone becomes intensely preoccupied with protecting Lucy not just from prowling demons but also impatient maids, desperate to obey orders to air out Lucy's rooms.
She grows well, but strange too--when Mina flat out tells her the truth, rather than let her suitors keep Lucy in the dark, she realizes she can see and hear Dracula as he makes plans.
They move fast and persistently, chasing him all the way back to his homeland before killing him.
For the rest of her very long life, Lucy kept a fresh bouquet of garlic flowers in her room--just in case.
Chapter 9: Swan Lake
Notes:
The prompt for this one was "Swan Lake, Odette, where Odette and Odile are two sides of one single person, and what breaks her heart is that the prince fails to see that (the white swan and the black swan are one and the same)"
Chapter Text
It is wrong to call Odile my shadow, the same way it is to say that I am Odile's light; that's like looking into a mirror and declaring your reflection someone else. She goes where I cannot, but I live where she cannot; she is my outstretched hand, the turn of my dancing foot, but I am the beating heart that thrums in her chest.
Oh, dear prince, foolish boy, who is forever stumbling into things you cannot understand, your inconstant love is the dagger that is making me bleed out. You looked upon Odile and forgot me instantly, despite the fact she wears my face.
And poor Odile, we deserved better than to be tossed aside like broken marionettes.
Chapter 10: Dracula
Summary:
The prompt for this was "Dracula, any, the polycule"
Chapter Text
After the Adventure, as Lucy liked to call it with far more romanticism than the rest of them can manage, Jack had to admit, his return to running the asylum was not high on his list of priorities. There was so much work to do with everything else, and yet there he was filling out paperwork, double checking records, and reviewing every request that came to his desk.
But, there were some recompense to coming back after a long day to a warm, cheery household. Lucy would take one look at him and force him to come put his head in her lap so she could massage his brow, while Quincey pulled off his shoes to rub his feet, and then Art would laugh and tell him (again) to just quit his job and become his kept man like Quincey. That would lead to a pillow fight with the good throw pillows and much laughter from Lucy, and Jack would just lay there, eyes closed in bliss as the ones he loved most chased away his cares of the day.
Chapter 11: Dracula
Notes:
Prompt: "any, any, accidental use of family terms"
Chapter Text
Van Helsing knows it's the fever and chills, the blood loss, the damn weakness that if only this sweet child's mother hadn't blundered in, maybe they could have saved her. He knows that she lost her own father and now she is orphaned twice over. He knows that it is the undeath that creeps into her veins and throttles her pure life.
Still, when Lucy looks at him in delirium and agony, reaches for his hand, and calls to him in that terribly young voice "papa, it hurts", he can't help but reach back and press a cool hand to her brow to soothe her.
"Shush, shush, my child," he murmurs. "It will be over soon. Rest."
"Don't leave me," she weeps, so softly. "It hurts so much."
"Shh, my child. I will stay, I will stay."
Chapter 12: Dracula
Notes:
The prompt for this one was "Dracula, Lucy Westenra, Lucy stays a vampire".
Chapter Text
Lucy curls in on herself, trying to make herself as small as possible in the corner, but before her is Mina, who is trying to make herself bigger, wider—big enough to hide Lucy. Mina, dearest Mina; Mina who Lucy has been quietly following since Mina brought Jonathon back home. Mina who was being attacked by the monster, her master, the one who kept demanding she feed feed feed on those little ones because they hadn't the strength to fight her, but she couldn't bring herself to harm. Mina who Lucy couldn't let be hurt, who should never have to be this—this—this thing that Lucy now is.
Mina who didn't deserve this, so Lucy leapt on to the back of her master and bit bit bit and dug her claws into until he let go of poor Mina. He nearly shattered her body as he finally hurled her off him, but by then Jonathon and dear Arthur and the rest of her boys came storming in and he fled their approach.
Mina stands before Lucy, before the crosses and knives and guns, and glares them down. "I don't know WHAT Lucy is right now—vampire or not—but I do know that she saved me from that monster and if you think for one second that I'm going to let you hurt her, then you all ought to be locked up with the rest of the inmates in this place!"
Lucy doesn't know if Mina's words will reach them; she doesn't know if this hunger will be sated if only for a moment by the black sludge of the beast coating her teeth. She doesn't know any more than Mina if she is a vampire or not.
She does know this however—she is glad that Mina is alive and not like her. Maybe Van Helsing and her dear boys will kill her out of an attempt to lay her soul to rest, but for now whatever she is glad it gave her just enough power to fight her old nightmare off. There will be no more blood tonight—she can be content with that.
Chapter 13: Dracula
Notes:
Prompt: "Dracula, our friend Johnathan Harker, what to do when one comes into sudden possession of a castle"
Chapter Text
The locals are going to be furious with them, Jonathan knows, but he also likes to think that they're going to appreciate their results in time. He helps Arthur and Jack once he's done with his portion of the job; only once they've double checked their work do they flee the castle and join Mina and Van Helsing. It'd been unanimously decided to let Mina have the final blow to Dracula, so Jonathan hands her the detonator and they all watch with deep satisfaction as the blasts go off and the castle crumbles.
Of course it also knocks them all of their feet and sends the precarious cliff tumbling as well. It's a very near thing, but afterwards they're all very proud and happy, even if they agree they might have been a bit too enthusiastic with the amount of dynamite they used.
