Work Text:
Donatello and Mouse were standing in the lab, working pleasantly and effortlessly around and with each other. Silently knowing when to pass the screwdriver and always kindly accepting it with soft thank yous and even kinder smiles before diving right back into their combined effort at upgrading bike extensions of the turtle-tank. Peace and quiet.
At least till Leonardo showed up.
“Heyy!” The slider calls out and Donatello lets out an over-dramatised groan, Mouse only lifting their head with a small huff and a smile in greeting. “How nice to see my favourite tech nerds greet me so kindly! Truly warms the soul.”
Leo wraps an arm around either one of the names tech-nerd’s shoulders, drawing them tightly to him with a huge grin.
“Always such a pleasure to see you too.” Don responds flatly. “And by pleasure I mean pain, and by see I mean be bothered by.”
“I know you love me, mi hermano, no reason to deny it.” Leo places a wet kiss on Donatello’s cheek and the purple brother is quick to try to dry it off.
The charming slider then turns his attention to Mouse, giving them a smug smile and a playful nod in Don's direction. Silently pretending to mock him and Mouse can't help but laugh softly under their breath in response.
The two tech-geeks get back to work, but this time Leonardo is there. Interrupting the silent flow, having replaced it with a more fast paced and playful one. You'd think this would disrupt, make it impossible to work, but it has a surprisingly pleasant fluidity to it.
“Screw driver!” Leo sings, handing over the tool from Mouse to Don while sprawled over the top of it while the other two work on either side of it.
“Screw~driveeer!” Donatello sings in response, not even noticing how he got so easily swept along on the change of mood. “Heeere’s the wrench!”
The soft-shell is dancing, throwing the wrench up in the air as Leo catches it, playing a fake drum solo with it in the air alongside beatboxing an imaginary beat they've just made up together. He hands the tool over to Mouse with a wink, continuing his beat as Don dances while working.
Mouse dances too, humming with Leo to further the musical side of it all. Between wrenching, the yokai clunks the equipment against the metal of the bike, making even more musical harmony.
And before they know it? They're all three dancing together around the lab. Making music out of nothing and everything, laughing and clapping. Locking arms and jumping around to the beat of their own intertwined sounds. Going on and on till Leonardo trips over his own feet. Don tries to catch him, but being intertwined with Mousie as well, the three of them end up falling over each other instead.
Lying on a heap on the floor, the slider beneath them all as the yokai lands on top of his chest and the soft-shell fell a bit to the side, on top of Mouse again. They fall into a breathless giggle.
The shortest of the three slowly opens their eyes, still giddy from their all’s shared laughter, only to find Leonardo's brightly warm and blue eyes staring back already. Don continues to giggle on top of them, trying once to untangle himself only to get a push in his bracing arms to fall back down again.
“Isn't this fun?” Leo finally cuts through the chuckles, smirking with a gentle care glimmering in his eyes. “Us three. Hanging out together, feels natural doesn't it?”
Mouse sees the meaningful shine in the blue turtle’s eyes; he means something deeper than friends. But Don doesn't seem to catch onto this as he shakes his head on top of the yokai, resting his head against theirs in an attempt to rest in the odd position Leonardo is keeping them all in.
“You're still a pain.” Don smugly responds.
“A good pain?” The usual joking face man says with a sincerity that catches both the nerds off guard.
The question in itself wasn't anything grand or deep, but it's the way it was said, the added weight of the words put there by the earnest gaze and the soft spoken words. It doesn't appear to be a joke, or a lead up to a pun like they're both so used to hearing. It feels meaningful.
The two tech-geniuses gaze at each other before looking back at the man below them both.
“We're not sure what you're asking.” Mouse explains for them.
Leonardo smiles, lifting his arms to place one hand on either of the two’s cheeks. “I don't know if you'd understand.”
“Try us.” Donatello responds. “We're geniuses after all, I bet we'll get it.”
“Yeah, we'd want to know if something is bothering you and we can help.” Mouse nods along. “We care about you, right Donnie?”
“I mean.. yeah, of course we do. Would be dumb to assume anything else.”Donatello nods, lifting his hand to scratch at his chin for a moment. “But then again you are a dumb dumb.”
“See?” Mouse says, pointing to Don's face as if he didn't hide his care with an insult. “We care.”
“I know, I care too.” Leonardo's smile widens slightly. “I just care a little differently I think…” Licking his lips, the young man on the floor seems to consider his words. “I want to bring you guys your coffee the way you like it after a long morning of working. I want to rub your shoulders and pat your head after a long day. I want to snuggle in close and enjoy a long night of snuggling up together in a pile, exchanging soft kisses and encouraging words as we forget the time.”
The slider guides the other two’s faces closer to his own, leaning up from the hard floor behind him to place gentle kisses on both their cheeks. He lingers for a bit, hugging their heads together before slowly lowering his head back down to look at the pair again.
“I want to say I care, and that I love you guys.” Leo quirks his lip up, rubbing his thumb over their cheeks gently. “And you'll know I mean it. Not as a friend, not only platonically, but with every fibre of my being. I want this. I want this to be the new normal.”
“What do you mean?” Mouse asks, feeling flustered for no reason. Though glancing over at Don, at least they're not alone in that.
“I want us as Leotellouse.” The turtle in blue responds with a grin.
“As what.” Don asks, deadpan.
“I want to be your boyfriend.” Leo then says outright. “I want to date you, both of you. I want to be there for you and be a good friend and brother like with everyone else, but I also want to take extra care of you.”
Mouse blinks, unable to take in the information given to them. “Date?”
“Us?” Donatello finishes the thought, then adds a suspicious, “Why?”
“Because.” Leonardo says with a smile, pulling Don down for a sweet kiss.
Their lips press, the soft-shell first shoots his eyes up in shock. Giving clear indication of intending to pull away, but then decides against it, letting himself fall into the soft gesture.
They part, only after a few seconds, but Don is already breathless. Letting his rest as he hides it between the shoulders of both Mouse and Leon.
The slider then turns to the other tech-genius, turning their head for their lips to meet too.
Mouse had been shell shocked at first. Unable to really understand how Leonardo could be flirting with them, with both of them, and definitely not understanding the request. They've always been convinced that Leo was just Leo. The face-man that occasionally would come into the lab to bother them, aggravate and tease Don while making puns and kissy faces. Disrupting the flow of their work in an annoyingly fun way, sweep them away in some silly new conversations or activity after a while.
Sure, he's always been flirty and a little touchy-feely, but never in an inappropriate or uncomfortable way. It was always presented with such playful care and a lot of… love.
Lips touch, moving softly against each other, and Mouse’s eyes flutter close. Unable to escape when sandwiched between the other two males, they can't really find it in them to complain. They've no idea what's going on, nor how they all got there or how this will possibly change things…
But it feels right.
This trio feels right.
Mouse in a Blurple sandwich, feels right.
