Chapter Text

It was a chilly day in Germany, you were at home, training your powers on my living room, when suddenly you heard your phone doing a sound from a received a message. You walked up to my phone and saw a message from non other than Sam Wilson.

Hey y/n I know we haven't talked in a while, but I need your help, I think Barnes is up to something, and I sense your abilities would help.

The rest of the message was an address. This was weird, it wasn't frequent for the avengers to come to Europe, and when they did something definitely was wrong. So, you did it, you answered Sam and told him that you would come to their encounter.

You missed Sam a lot, before he met Steve Rogers, he was a really present friend, you used to talk a lot even though you lived in completely different parts of the globe. You met in a mission, well it was his mission you just happened to be where he fell. It was before the Avengers destroyed Sokovia, you used to live in the forest, close to the city, you didn’t know what was Sam’s profession, but one day there was a loud sound coming from outside the house. So, you ran outside, and found Sam on his tatical gear and wings, passed out on the grass floor, you took him home, and took care of him for over a month. You had a connection, it was and intense month, he found out about you abilities, you told him my story, he told you about his partener's death and how much it hurt since it was a recent lost, and since then you never stop talking.

You made your mind immediately as soon as you read the whole message, you couldn’t fail Sam on the only occasion he needed you.

It took a while to get there since it was in the middle of nowhere, and you were reluctant about getting inside the building since it looked like it was abandoned even though it looked big, but Sam wouldn't lie to you, would he?

You walked in still unsure of what you were doing but the saw a low light and heard two male voices, one was clearly Sam's and the other one you suppose it was Barnes', so you kept walking forward and while you got closer, you heard them arguing, you entered the room passing some plastic curtains.

"Easy gentlemen..." you said while walking in.

"Sam who…" Barnes started with a furious voice but Sam didn’t let him finish since he ran towards you and pulled you into a hug lifting you up from the ground.

"Y'n! I miss you so much, you look so pretty.” Sam said in a way only you could hear.

“I miss you too big bird.” you replied giving him a smile.

Once he putted you on the ground, you both looked at the other man in the room who looked really furious with the whole situation.

“Calm down Bucky, she's one of us, an ally and a really good friend. You weren't thinking that we would do this ourselves without any help, were you?" He answered while smiling at me. “Anyways, why are we here? What even is this place?”

Sam asked, but before Bucky could answer you heard footsteps walking through the plastic curtains, it was a male figure wearing a police officer uniform, he walked slowly until the light hit him...and oh no...

You looked at Sam with surprised and betrayal clearly showing on your expression, but he looked as surprised as you were, he then started walking towards the man.

“What are you doing here?” He spoke loudly while pointing at the man.

Bucky then walked in front of him trying to stop Sam, while the other walked closer to them.

“I didn’t tell you, ‘cause I knew you wouldn’t let this happen.” Bucky said.

You stood still on your place, trying to not be seen by anyone, special by the newcomer.

“What did you do?”

“We need him Sam.”

“You’re going back to prison!” Sam shouted pointing at the man.

The tension in the room was awful, you were feeling awful. How did they break one of the most dangerous criminals out of jail, that was the real question, but as far as you were concerned, you thought you preferred not to know.

“If I may…” The man started but the other two didn’t let him finish.

Then they started to talk about Steve, the things Sam risked while trying to save Bucky, that was a very Sam thing to do, he always tried to help everyone around him. Basically, Bucky was asking for his help to break the law again, but you knew he wasn’t scared of breaking the law, but instead he looked at you the whole time, because he knew how difficult it was for you agreeing to this. You didn’t look back at him, you looked at the floor the whole time.

The man interrupted them once again and Sam told him to shut his mouth, and surprisingly he did so.

“Before I agree to this, I have to talk to her.” Sam informed Bucky. He nodded and the other walked towards you grabbing you arm and walking you to the corner of the room, where they couldn't hear nor see the both of you.

“Look, I know this won’t be easy for you, but I really need you.” Sam said but it felt like he was begging.

“You can bet your ass it won’t, and if I could I was attacking him right now. But you’re the one asking, and as you well know I can’t say no to you, specially when you’re making those stupid puppy eyes.” you answered bumping his arm, while giving him a small smile of reassurance.

“You’re the best! I owe you one.” He said and you walked back to the others. “Okay…if we do this, you don’t make a move without our permission.” Sam informed the criminal.

“Fair.” The man simply said.

“Okay Zemo, where do we start?” Sam asked with a commanding voice. You never heard him sound so serious, but again you had to keep in mind who he was talking to.

You walked further into the building, you always stood by Sam’s side, trying to avoid any contact with Zemo. You enter a room and the criminal turned on the light and the room were filled with cars, mostly old ones.

“So our first move is grand theft auto?” Sam asked serious but you couldn’t hold a small laugh at the ironic way he said it.

“These are mine. Collected by family over the generations.” Zemo replied. Of course they were his.

He kept talking while grabbing somethings from different car trunks, while the other two looked at the cars, Bucky was the most interested and that intrigued you, and even though you didn’t ask permission you entered his mind and felt the nostalgic feeling, the cars remembered him of the 40s. You quickly got out of his mind without him noticing.

You stood still by the door, you hated be this close to this man, Baron Helmut Zemo... it brought you many feelings…some of them you couldn’t even describe, you heard so much about this family, and their past, everything was complicated, but the worst feelings were sadness because of what happened and betrayal towards your family.
