Chapter Text
Sixteen-year-old Olivia Benson was sitting at an outdoor table outside a cafe talking to her much older boyfriend, Brennen Jarvis. Olivia's mom was an English professor at Hudson University and Brennan was one of her students. He and Olivia met when she was sitting in on one of her Mother's classes.
"Livvie, I love you. I want to marry you and take you away from all of this. We can live in student housing. I want to take care of you," Brennan requested as they sat sipping their lattes.
Olivia looked uncertain. "Bren, my mother would kill me. Literally. And we can't get married legally without her permission."
"I know someone who can take care of that. You love me, right?" Brennan pressed.
"Of course I love you, Bren. That's not the point. You could get in trouble for even dating me. Marrying me is against the law.
"I wouldn't get in trouble. I have a Buddy that can give you a new ID with a new age. We can run away to Connecticut."
"You think it would work?" Olivia asked, starting to warm up to the idea.
"It's foolproof," Brennan assured her.
Olivia smiled softly and took his hand.
"Ok," she agreed.
The two of them made plans to leave Friday night after Brennan's last class. Thursday They got the fake ID and birth certificate. It stated that Olivia was eighteen. Olivia packed a suitcase and hid it underneath her bed and hid the fake ID and birth certificate in her desk. Friday after school, Olivia came home to find her mother completely intoxicated and the credentials on the coffee table.
"So you thought you could sneak out. What did you think was gonna happen? That you and that perverted student of mine would just ride off into the sunset? Don't forget I can have him kicked out of school and Arrested if he ever sets foot near you again! You ungrateful little slut! After I raised you by myself your entire life. You're a spawn of the devil. You don't deserve to be happy after the way you were conceived. After what your monster of a father did to me!"
"Mom,please. Stop talking like that. I love Brennan and he loves me. I want to marry him and I'm going to," Olivia insisted shakily.
"Over my dead body! I'll make sure that pervert loses his scholorship and his freedom. He'll go to prison for life," Serena threatened.
"Mom, you can't stop us. I'm leaving tonight. Right this minute. You'll never see me again," was Olivia's firm reply.
This made Serena furious. She let out a scream that sounded almost posessed and threw her half empty vodka bottle on the ground, smashing it to pieces. Olivia's eyes widened in terror as her mother picked up a jagged peice of broken glass and headed straight for her, screaming, "No one else will ever have you!!!"
"Mama, please!!" shreiked the teen in horror. Serena ignored her daughter's terrified words and stumbled closer. Out of instinct, olivia kicked out hard, connecting with her mother's stomach. Anger provoked the next kick which sent Serena flying into the wall across the room. Olivia shakily backed up before running out of the apartment. Once she was out on the street she found a payphone and dialed 9-1-1.
After giving the operator the necessary information, Olivia told her in a trembling voice, "I-l think she's dead." After she had hung up, She waited at a safe distance for help to arrive. As soon as the ambulance arrived and carried off her mother, Olivia collapsed to the ground, sobbing.
The call soon went through to the forteenth precinct, and Liutenant Bert Samuels called on his two female detectives who were also two of his best detectives.
"Cagney,Lacey, my office!"
Detectives Chris Cagney and Mary-Beth Lacey immediately responded to their Boss's orders.
"Yes, sir?" Mary-Beth questioned when they were inside the office.
"Assult case near Hudson University. Victim is An English professor by the name of Serena Benson. They've taken her to Mt. Sinai. You two head there. I'm sending Petrie and La Guardia to the apartment to check on possible witnesses."
"We're on it, sir," Cagney replied. Then she and her partner headed out.
Meanwhile, Olivia's sobs slowed and she got up off the ground and snuck back into her apartment through the fire escape. After grabbing her stuff, along with some cash, she snuck back down and hailed a cab.
Getting in, she choked out to the driver, "Hudson University, Gracie Dorm." The driver simply grunted and took off in the direction of the college.
