Cat and Mouse

Summary:

When having a grand ol' time with friends in a silly mood, a few cat and mouse comments can turn into a rumble.

Work Text:

"Did you just fall?" Innocent looks down at you as you lay on the floor.

"...Yeah..." You mumble defeatedly.

"But you squeaked,” DG added in disbelief. That only made you more embarrassed, and you blushed and looked away.

"Yeah, sorry; I didn't mean to. Sounded kinda dumb..."

Innocent put his hand nubs to his chin in his classic cute pose and giggled.

“Tee-hee~♪, you squeak like a little mouse!” Innocent continued to giggle at that, but DG tensed up at just the mention of the creature, while you tense out of offense.

“I am not a rat!” you exclaimed defensively. Innocent continues to tease.

“Hee-hee! You’re a little rat!”

Oh now it’s on. With a smile on your face, you pointed a strong finger between the both of them.

"Well if I'm a rat because I squeak, then you're both cats because you got cat ears and meow!"

All hell broke loose after that.

~~~
“Give up!” Innocent commands.
“Never!” You try and paw at Innocent, who’s on your back and trying and failing to put you in a chokehold with his tiny arms. DG’s behind you both cheering Innocent on and instructing him on how to do the chokehold better like the good original source isotope he is. He trips you every time you’ve tried to get up, because let's be honest: Innocent was only able to reach your neck because DG was keeping you on the floor.
You’ve tried prying Innocent’s arm from your neck, and you even succeeded, but then he started to fall off your back, and you didn’t want him to get hurt falling to the floor, so you caught him. After you caught him, he promptly wiggled out of your grasp and retook his position on your back before you could stop him, kicking your hands with his little legs every time you try to reach him with an underhand.
You’ve considered rolling over and squishing Innocent - that would almost definitely get him off your back - but you don’t want to hurt him, heck, you’ve been mainly focusing on not falling on him every time DG trips you! You don’t know if you even can hurt him in a dream, but you weren’t going to take that chance. Even though he was literally a god, or at least a mutated clone of one, your first instinct is to treat him as a child, because- well look at him! He’s tiny, acts exactly like a child, and his face - he’s got big eyes and a little w mouth like a cat! He straight-up has an owo face!
DG knows you won't go full force with Innocent. If it were DG on your back, you'd have grabbed him by the back of the neck - like a cat - and flipped him over your head by now.
At this point you’re just letting Innocent win.
You try crawling away out of DG’s range so he can’t trip you and you can at least get up, but when he simply walks forward to keep up with your crawl, it finally frustrates you enough that you turn your head back to him and shout at him.
“Dam- dang it D-G!” You don’t want to cuss in front of Innocent. DG laughs.
"What are you all doing?!"
You all halt and snap your heads towards the source of the sudden shout.
Standing there in the void a couple meters away with several papers and clipboards under his arms, is the Lab DG.
“I knew I would find you here,” Lab DG says tiredly, rubbing the flem out of his eyes with his hand. He looks like he hasn't slept in three days, which is unusual because you're pretty sure DG doesn't need to sleep. “What are you even doing anyway? Get off the Player!” he demands. Innocent slides himself off your back and into your arms, and the original DG gently takes him from you and then walks towards Lab DG.
"Aww, you know I wouldn't really hurt them! It’s not like I even can in a dream," DG defends.
“I don’t care. You can’t go screwing around - with our only ticket out of this void mind you - when our whole prison is collapsing around us and about to take us with it!” While the original DG was the one in charge of them all, this interaction felt like Lab DG was angrily scolding a misbehaving child.
After the energy from his anger wears off, Lab DG sighs tiredly again and shakes his head. “Whatever. It doesn’t matter right now. I've finished the meter,” he says, his voice back to his original exhausted and done tone instead of loud and angry like just before. The original DG seems to light back up at that news.
“Oh, sweet!” DG turns back to you as he runs after Lab DG, who’s now turned around and leading his predecessor out of your dream. “See ya [Y/N]!”
You’re too distracted by and happy at the fact that he addressed you by name now instead of ‘Player’ that you forgot to ask what this meter was, and just simply wave goodbye.
That happiness is slowly overcome by the crippling pressure of loneliness creeping in as you watch him run off and leave you behind in the dreamscape... alone...
“See ya...”
