Chapter Text

„Hey, Y/N, wanna come go eat lunch with us?“

You looked at the girl from your class, smiling brightly at you and trying to convince you to join them for the hundredth time. The 1-C classroom emptied quickly as everyone got up to get lunch. Your eyes spotted the group behind the girl, looking annoyed that her friend still wasted her time asking you. And they were right. So you smiled apologetically and shook your head.

“I appreciate your determination but believe me it’s better if I don’t. See you after lunch.”

It wasn’t her fault. As you headed for your spot on the roof during break, you sighed, because you did not choose for this. Neither for this school, nor for this country. And especially not for these two so-called soulmarks on your right wrist.

The sight from the rooftop was great as usual, some other students enjoying the quiet break here as well and the spot you’ve chosen had the benefit of a clear view into the lunch hall. There they all were, the girl from your class with her friends bickering on one table, exciting students waiting in line for their daily meal … and there was this one table with those two individuals who made your life even more complicated than it was before.

A bright smiling redhead laughing at a joke from the pinkish girl beside him. And a fiery, grumpy blond sitting quietly and sometimes snarling at the others, to which said others only responded with laughter.

You sat down leaning your side against the fence and an elbow propped on one knee, hunger long forgotten.

It felt as if you were watching a daily tv episode you held dear to your heart, dreading to miss one. You were a spectator of this beautiful scenery of friendship … and love in front of you. You did not miss the intertwined hands below the table, discreetly sharing some intimacy. And it made your heart soar. Who would’ve thought that after all you would find your soulmates here, in Japan, at the famous high school called U.A.

It took some to determine them, but once you found it out, you followed all the incidents linked to these two. The sports festival where you’ve witnessed their abilities and fighting spirit. Kamino, where All Might retired by saving one of your soulmates – it’s no lie to say you cried in relief knowing he was safe again. And the debut of your other soulmate on his patrol with Fat Gum – boy, were you proud of your red sunshine.

The marks on your wrist matched the scales of Kirishima’s hardening and Bakugou’s explosion. AND to round this all up, you’ve felt their intense emotions here and there. It was like a subconscious switch, sometimes you felt pumped as heck, determined to reach whatever you tried to accomplish that day. Or another time you became highly irritated by the slightest disturbance, growling at each and everyone.

On the other side, it made you wonder if they would feel some emotions from you. Most probably, but looking at your past, you probably gave them your worst feelings ever. Great.

Back then, you couldn’t give a damn about some other people being disturbed in their cozy lives by some pent-up emotions you felt then. But now, observing them through the large hall windows, how happy those two were, you felt bad for messing with them. So you chose to sit aside and enjoy their joy. You would just bring imbalance to them. So, why bother.

Sighing again, you opened your lunchbox and started to eat. One year in Japan and you still didn’t get used to their cuisine. It tasted good, really good sometimes… but then you remember and miss the familiar food from your home back then.

To cut it short, you weren’t in U.A. by choice. On the contrary, this school, as good it might be, was your prison. Put here by Japanese authorities under the watchful eyes of the heroes working here. Just because you were a teenager doing things wrong, they saw your conflicting situation and -officially - gave you a second chance.

Officially, I rather doubt that they accepted me as a person in the gray area between hero and villain.

To be fair, you were grateful for it, otherwise you would’ve never met your two soulmates. Although you did not get the hero system here, it was as if a whole country tried to play cops and robbers – but much more seriously. Then, you came from a whole different place, so it is not surprising you were still trying to integrate.

On the table you saw Bakugou stood up, seemingly annoyed by the others. But you knew just from watching them every break that he was just going back to class early. Most often with a hidden small happy smile.

With another sigh, you also smiled from your spot, butterflies tingling your stomach. Every day you waited to see this smile and then you could go on with school life. Living your life in the shadows.

“You coming, shitty hair?”

“Wait for me, Bakugou!”

School was over and after another tough sparring session under Aizawa’s eyes, Kirishima was happy to go into the dorms to finally relax with his boyfriend on the couch. His back was sore after a particularly hard blow from Shoji but he was proud of his final win. Of course he had to win, Bakugou would’ve kicked his sorry ass otherwise.

Still, today was a good day, his and Bakugou’s mood were on a peak and the blonde was smiling more than usual. He knew what that meant: Over the last year they both felt it regularly, a joy or a bliss warming their hearts, even if their own circumstances were unlikely to cause it. So that could only mean that their other soulmate must have had a really good day.

And Kirishima was glad for it. Seriously, he was desperate when he felt their utter horror two years ago. Their furious rage and hate – dang, was it hard to overplay it back then with his usual smile. In fact, these dark emotions made him want to rip everything apart. And Bakugou those days was like a living wire, more snapping and exploding than ever. When they talked about it after they came together – after Kamino – Bakugou admitted that he was so worried and frustrated for not being able to do anything about it.

Actually, when he knew about us being soulmates, he wanted to beat me into a pulp for making his life so complicated! But at the same time, he was relieved because he thought he found the source of this misery. As did I. Man, we were so frustrated to know that it was the unknown third bearing this pain!

After changing into sweatpants and an old shirt; the redhead strolled down to the common room for dinner and some hidden hugs. The Bakusquad knew about their relationship, so it was cool, but Bakugou did not want to shout it out into class, so they kept it on a considerate level.

“Oi, Kiri! Baku’s making us steak for dinner!”, Kaminari shouted from the kitchen counter as he saw him coming from the staircase.

“Hoo? Katsuki, you must be in a seriously good mood then.”, he grinned as he sat beside the blonde lightning boy, eyeing his boyfriend sizzling the meat in the pan.

“As if you don’t know why, shitty hair…”, Bakugou mumbled, grinning back to Kirishima.

Yep. They were happy. And that’s because they knew their third soulmate, even if they didn’t know them, was happy, too. So, they had to be safe as well.

Still, I want to meet them so bad. Then we both can ensure them they were safe and don’t have to feel so bad ever again in his life.

Not that they were unhappy if there weren’t the foreign emotions of their third part. Hell, Kiri had never been happier in his life, pursuing his dream career and his crush turned out to be his soulmate! Plus, his grades were constantly getting better and he won a sparring match today.

Life was great!

But with their missing link, the redhead was sure, all of it would be even much better then! So he can’t wait for it. And Bakugou did too, that Kiri was certain of.

The blonde’s hidden smile clearly showed it.

The warming spring breeze after the cold winter made it finally possible to keep the balcony door open whilst doing your exercises in your dorm room. Granted, you weren’t in the hero course, but you still didn’t want to slack your training. Who knew when another incident like these from two years ago might happen again.

Despite what those others of class 1-C thought, your combat abilities had to stay on peak. Even without quirks, you were taught to sharpen your body into a weapon.

Ironically, dancing was the best way to keep your body to this level. Fluent sharp movements, elegant and deadly.

Not that I want to kill, but if I have to…

During the incident with Bakugou’s kidnapping you were so furious, thankfully you didn’t know the culprits or the exact location, otherwise no one would’ve stopped you causing mayhem there to those daring to even think about kidnapping your soulmate.

“Aaand that is why the teachers don’t trust me.”

Stretching after finishing your daily 3-hour exercise, you went on the balcony and looked at the sunset. You wanted to live a normal life again, you really did, but this damned past still was haunting you. And who would blame you, surviving such a brutal thing …

Flashbacks of fire, screams, gunshots and horrendous pain suddenly mixed with the red horizon. You shook your head to focus on the present. Darn it, this coping with the past seemed to take longer than intended. So instead, your thoughts wandered to your soulmates, putting out her feelers to what they were doing now.

They seemed … comfortable. Cozy. Like a warm evening on the couch under soft sheets… both of them. Probably both spending their free time together. So sweet.

Immediately, the pulse went down and the sunset looked lovely again. It was crazy how safe you could feel just by knowing that they’re out there, safe and happy. Even if they didn’t know you at all. In fact, they both resembled the sun in some way. Kirishima had a sunny character, warm, inviting, red and assuring. Bakugou then was a hot summer day, burning hot, bright, aggressive … yet somehow caring and enjoyable.

Leading on with this metaphor, I should be the moon. I didn’t make any friends during this year here, so I am not warming. I just sometimes appear by reflecting the bright light of the sun. Meaning I feel most capable for social activities after refueling strength from feeling or watching my soulmates from afar. Jeez, I sound like a stalker…

A soft knocking on your door yanked you out of your thoughts. “Yeah?”

The girl asking you today carefully peeked her head in: “Er, hi Y/N, the class rep made dinner. Ramen. You want some?”

Well, you were socially distant, but not cruel. Softly smiling at your classmate you pushed off the balcony railing. “Yeah, sure, why not?”
