The Wrapper

Summary:

Y/n teaches Hobi how to wrap presents.

Work Text:

When Y/n walked in the door of their flat, she was not expecting to find Hoseok in the middle of the floor surrounded by all the packages they’d bought for people for Christmas. Christmas music was playing loudly in the background and Hoseok’s head was bopping to the beat. He hadn’t heard her come in, so she quietly sat down her bag and removed her shoes. He had a squeaky toy in his hand that they had chosen for Tannie and was struggling to make wrap it. When he reached for the tape to attempt to finish wrapping the gift, he noticed her standing in the room with him. He screamed and threw the toy.

“I’m so sorry, Hobi. I didn’t mean to scare you, but you were so cute it just gave me pause.”

“It’s okay, Baby.” He opened his arms for her, and she straddled his lap. He kissed her softly. “Help me wrap the presents.”

“Let me change clothes first,” Y/n kissed him again before getting up and heading into their bedroom.

The flat was warm and cozy since Hoseok had turned on their gas logs for atmosphere, so Y/n stole a pair of his oversized sweats and paired them with a black tank top. She braided her hair in pigtails so it would be out of the way then went back into the living room.

“Hobi, before we take that on, I’m going to make some tea. Want anything?”

“Hm…can you make me some hot cocoa, Baby?” he asked.

“Of course!”

While the kettle heated up for the peppermint tea that Y/n had been craving, she heated some milk up to make hot cocoa for Hoseok. Once the milk was hot, she shaved some semi dark chocolate directly into the pan and melted it directly in the milk with just a touch of sugar. Once everything had combined well, she poured it into a hand made mug that Taehyung had gotten him for his birthday one year. Y/n had experimented with making her own marshmallows, so she popped some into his mug as well at the same time the kettle whistled. She poured the boiling water over her diffuser full of loose-leaf mint tea with a bit of honey. She carried the mugs out to the living room and smiled brightly at the excited whoop that Hoseok let out upon taking the cup. For just a moment, they both just sipped the warm drinks in silence before getting serious about wrapping the gifts.

“We bought so many things I’m not sure where to start. And I’m terrible at wrapping. When I lived with the others, I paid Jungkook to wrap all the gifts but his own.”

Y/n giggled at that. “Let’s start with an easy one and I’ll show you the way I wrap everything. Hand me the box with Yoongi’s headphones in it.”

Y/n looked at the selection of wrapping paper and chose a roll of dark blue paper with silver accents. She unrolled the paper just enough and placed the box right up to the edge of the paper and moved the roll around until the box was fully covered with several centimeters of extra paper before cutting it. Y/n then cut the paper to a closer fit to the package. She talked him through every step of the process, until the gift was covered completely, and she had tied a beautiful bow on top.

“Okay. That looks easy enough. Let me try.”

Hoseok chose the new set of cookware he had bought for his mom and then picked a roll of bright red wrapping paper. It took him much longer than it had taken Y/n, but he still felt good about the way that the package looked.

“See, Hobi-Hobi! You can wrap presents!” Y/n applauded him.

Once he finally felt confident, Y/n was able to wrap gifts at the same time that he was. They knocked out the pile of gifts easily, with Y/n wrapping all of the awkwardly shaped gifts while Hoseok tackled the more square and rectangular boxes.

“Wow. It actually looks like Christmas in here now that there are gifts under our tree,” Hoseok murmured as he snuggled into her side.

“It really does.”

Hoseok looked at her softly in the flickering light from the fireplace. “Can you imagine how it will be when our babies are running around the house, excited for Christmas? I can just see us baking cookies for Santa with them, taking them ice skating, having a Christmas party with the other guys and their families,” Hoseok daydreamed out loud to her against the Christmas music playing in the background.

“While I don’t want to rush through these moments we have now, but I am looking forward to having a life with you, Hobi,” she smiled softly at his enthusiasm. “And I can’t wait to raise beautiful babies with you.”
