Work Text:
As you walked together, their hand in your own, you felt warm, safe, and comfortable. It was almost as if you were dreaming. And though the cold wind blew and the sky was grey you wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
“What’s on your mind?” Hange asked out of curiosity but also in worry.
“Oh sorry, it’s just-” you searched for the words in Hange’s eyes, giving them enough time to find them in your own.
“It’s nice right?” they finished for you.
“Yes, it is. I wish everyday would be like this.”
Hange’s eyes changed, expressing sadness. ”I know. I hope that maybe one day after this war is finally over, wishing for peace won’t be so far-fetched anymore.”
“As long as you’re with me, everything will be okay.” you held onto their arm and pushed your head onto their chest. You could hear their heart beat at a steady rhythm, almost like a ticking time bomb.
Hange wrapped their arms around you, protecting you from the wind.
“I’m sorry”
You weren’t sure why but a tear rolled down your cheek and stopped at Hange’s shirt. Soon after you felt another down your neck, only it wasn’t yours.
