Work Text:

In the midst of their argument, Seungmin hadn’t meant to lose Felix in the crowd. Most times he would have a natural sense of direction to navigate places especially Seoul, but this is Australia which he knew 0 geographical background on. Like any foreigner, as he looks at a block ahead, he thinks it’s the same as the block near Felix’s house.

It was Felix’s turf. Felix, who not a minute ago was right in front of him, but now he’s lost in the crowd. There are around 50 other heads around him, mops of blonde and black meshing and blurring in his sight. His contact lenses were drying out and this really isn’t the right time for this to happen and honestly? He loses his wits when he’s mad that he won’t be surprised if he started crying now.

But the tears never come.

Instead, Seungmin gasps, feeling lost, thinking it was stupid to have argued at all. Five minutes pass in a flash right before his eyes and no Felix in sight. He pushes himself back down on a sidewalk dejectedly, bum hitting the concrete on its fleshiest part which cushions his sit down for the most part.

He tries to back track in his mind when the argument started, something to do with passing by Felix’s ex by Port Melbourne and how Felix wouldn’t shut up about him an hour into their stroll. It was stupid. It just so happened and Seungmin hadn’t let it go, asking Felix backhanded questions that weren’t even meant to be asked. “Do you still like your ex?” - “Are you smiling because you just came across your long lost flame?” He remembers Felix murmuring how it was unfair of him to think so, the hurt look in his eyes, the pout that had formed on his lips, before Seungmin walked out on his boyfriend and didn't even give him a chance to speak.

He’s never seen Felix so disappointed and so... so... sad and he wants to slap himself silly for even being the reason for it. It seemed petty now. He'd realized early on that he was in the wrong, but it just seemed so disgusting he’d even acted out at all like that that he couldn't look Felix in the eye.

Seungmin wasn't a naturally jealous person, but it seemed all the walking got him riled up maybe or it must've been the painful spot on the sole of his feet that did all the angry talk at all. He knew Felix was naturally in awe of things and the littlest things made him happy when he said, “He looks good. I’m happy he’s doing well.” and it was wrong of him to assume and belatedly blame his boyfriend for things that he felt insecure about.

Felix’s ex surprisingly looked nothing like him, but he was slightly taller and had a really good physique—a million-watt smile that would put Seungmin’s to shame, but this was just his insecurity talking. He was at fault. Seungmin is at fault. He had pinned his insecurities and projected on Felix so fast there was no time to recoil and process things.

He’s so so sorry and he swears when he sees Felix, he’s gonna crush him in a hug, apologize a thousand times, and pepper him with kisses. He swears if Felix is crying when he finds him, he’s probably gonna bust extreme moves and stage an impromptu flash mob just to ask for his sweet sweet forgiveness. He clearly didn't deserve the mess Seungmin was.

He does spot Felix a quarter of an hour in of his mindless walking, his mind just hasn’t been sharp about the finding.

When Seungmin’s upset or feeling down, he tends to lose all logic. It's stupid like that. So when he finally finds Felix sitting on a swing all alone at a park nearby, he reflects on his mistake and the walk of shame he makes going to him is slow and careful.

He stops right in front of his boyfriend who looks up at him. Felix looked like a kicked kitten, he looked so sad and upset it's almost embarrassing to Seungmin that he took part in this.

“Lixie, I’m sorry.”

“I love you so much, Minnie but that was really offensive I couldn't let it pass,” he’s teary-eyed when he says it, lips trembling from the accusations Seungmin pinned at him or from annoyance, Seungmin didn’t know.

“I know. I’m sorry, pixie.” Seungmin leans down a bit, cupping Felix's cheeks as he kisses Felix's forehead with an "I love you. Never again, I swear.” And then both his eyes, on the curve of his eyelashes. He crouches in front of Felix and for a moment he thinks if he needed to kneel and ask for forgiveness, he would. But Felix seemed to have taken the hint that he had it in mind as he covers Seungmin's hands on his cheeks, entwining their hands together to keep Seungmin from doing so. “I was being irrational. I’m sorry I pinned my insecurities at you,” Seungmin says as he brings their clasped hands on each of his boyfriend's cheeks to softly squeeze. “Please forgive me?”

He waits until Felix is looking at him eye to eye, sincerity in his eyes as the smaller boy pecks him on the lips and clasps their hands tighter. “I forgive you, puppy. I can never get mad at you.” So Seungmin brings their foreheads together. Felix shakes his face so they’re rubbing noses and it's always endearing to see Felix's face when it's all scrunched up. Seungmin lets go of Felix's hand then, but only to bring his hand up to cup the smaller’s face so he could give him a soft kiss again. “And exes are exes for a reason. You have to know that.”

Seungmin nods in understanding, beginning to come up from his uncomfortable crouching as he brings Felix up with him. He brings the smaller into his arms where Felix cooperates and purposefully drapes and makes himself heavier so Seungmin would baby him in his embrace.

“I'll make it up to you, I swear,” Seungmin whispers against his boyfriend's ear, an armful of Felix as he kisses the smaller's temple and the rest of his face with soft sniffs and kisses so it seals the deal. He soothes Felix by rubbing small circles on his back as they trudge to the direction of the cab stop.

The sun is shining so bright when they pass by the harbor and gulls fly free up into the sky. It's just any other day, but Seungmin’s glad he hadn't ruined it for them. He would never ever wish it. As he looks at Felix from the back of the cab they're sat on, the smaller boy beams at him. It's that one where Felix's eyes twinkle, nose scrunched up, and lips in a thin line like a smiling kitten.

They're good, they're fine, and when he closes his eyes he only hopes he could keep his sunshine smiling even brighter beside him for always.
