“Clocks are a curious thing,” the shopkeeper’s voice echoed softly around the small room. “As is time. They dictate our day and tell us when to do things.” though his expression was obscured by his mustache, his smile was audible in the way he spoke. I nodded slowly, my curiosity mounting. I allowed my eyes to wander around the shop, each strange clock catching my attention in one way or another. The shopkeeper’s tired gaze followed my own. “A clock’s unique appearance should suit the individuality of its owner; every person is complex, and the thing that decides so much about every day should reflect that,” he continued. “That is the motto of my shop.” I nodded again as a particularly strange clock snagged my attention. It was similar to a classic alarm clock, but still very unique, with the phases of the moon painted onto its illuminated face instead of the time. Running my fingers over the cool blue metal top, I peered at the strange thing. “Does this one tell the phases of the moon?” I questioned. “Indeed it does.” With a smile, I lifted up the small clock, and carried it to the counter. “I think I’ll buy this one.”
