Alarm

Summary:

Unlike Morisuke, Lev is a painfully light sleeper, and practically anything out of the ordinary is enough to wake him up. Therefore, Morisuke has perfected his morning routine in order to avoid waking up his alpha, who doesn't have to go to work until later in the day. He takes multiple steps each morning to ensure Lev isn't disturbed by him getting ready or leaving for the day.
Little does he know, Lev is way easier to wake than even he realizes, but Lev isn't about to let him in on that.
The way he sneaks around each morning is just way too adorable for the alpha to miss.

Notes:

Cute morning routines, Mori trying to be quiet and sneaky, and Lev letting him thing he's doing a good job

Please enjoy~

Day 16 - Morning Rituals

BEEP BE- Click

The alarm going off, shrilly right by his ear, immediately snapped Morisuke from his slumber, and he turned it off with incredible speed.

For a few moments, he lay still, blinking in the early morning half-light, just barely seeping around the edges of the curtains.

It was currently seven AM, the time at which Morisuke awoke to get to work on time. He worked your more typical hourly sort of job, albeit more exciting being part of an architectural firm. He got home early in the afternoons, and his hours were pretty flexible past noon, but most days, he did have to get to work early.

Not that he particularly minded. Seven AM wasn’t horribly early to him.

After six AM weights for volleyball in college, waking up at seven is like heaven.

Morisuke also held still for a few more minutes for another important reason. His mate, who was already stirring slightly beside him.

A few seconds passed in which Lev grumbled something unintelligible under his breath and rolled over before he settled down again.

The omega breathed a silent sigh of relief. Such a light sleeper…

He complained internally.

Morisuke could sleep through a train running through the room. This was the reason he kept his alarm set to the loudest possible volume and left his phone to charge on his bedside table only inches away from his pillow, ensuring the alarm blared directly into his ears and got him up quickly.

I also don’t want to let the alarm go off too long, or it’ll wake Lev.

Lev’s work was more freelance/commissions. He was a graphic designer, and he did work for a company designing things, but the company would hire him out to work commissions or different projects. Depending on the demand, he could be working odd hours, sometimes early in the mornings. However, it was more often he would work in the afternoons or occasionally on the weekends. He would have random Tuesdays where he could work remotely and lay around at home all day or Saturdays where he’d be at the office from eight AM till seven PM. It was a bit more haphazard, but it was what he’d gone to school for and what he loved, so it worked out well enough.

So Morisuke, who woke up each weekday morning at seven AM like clockwork, had a very particular set of morning rituals to abide by whenever Lev didn’t need to work that morning.

Firstly, he’d stay in bed a few minutes, waiting for his alpha to settle into sleep again after being stirred by the brief noise of the alarm, then he’d carefully slide out from under the covers without shifting them too much.

This very morning, as he started to get up, Lev rolled over again and threw an arm over him.

Oh, come on…

The omega found it very endearing that Lev didn’t want him to go even in his sleep, but he didn’t have that much time before he had to leave for work.

So he slid his pillow beside him and under Lev’s arm with perfect precision, then escaped the bed while his pillow remained as his decoy.

He went into the bathroom and shut the door before turning the lights on. He’d made the mistake of hitting the light switch before he shut the door once, and that sudden burst of light had had Lev wide awake within seconds, so he didn’t want to do that again.

Honestly, I’m such a nice mate, going through this much trouble so he can sleep in on his mornings off…

Morisuke considered as he reached for his toothbrush.

He brushed his teeth and combed his hair, then picked up his clothes for the day from where he’d left them neatly folded on the counter the night before.

No way I can go digging through the closet while trying to avoid waking him, so I get my stuff ready the night before.

The omega stifled a yawn as he pulled on his undershirt and slipped his button-up on overtop.

After a few moments of swiping his hair back and forth in the mirror, trying to get his part right, he gave up and put away everything before turning the lights off and then opening the bathroom door.

The auburn-haired lower padded out into the bedroom again, collecting his phone from his bedside table, and gently crept around to the other side of the bed.

“See you later. Love you.” He murmured, pressing a soft kiss against his alphas cheek.

He then fled the room as quietly as possible, having already put all his things in his bag out in the kitchen.

After he shut the door behind him, unbeknownst to him, Lev cracked his eye open, checking that the door was, in fact, shut, before grinning to himself.

His alarm wakes me up every time. It’s really loud…but if I told him that he’d feel so guilty and turn it down, and I know then it wouldn’t wake him up. I don’t care. It’s so cute how he tries to be quiet in the mornings so I can sleep in.

Throughout Morisuke’s carefully orchestrated morning rituals, which he’d thought he’d perfected several years ago, Lev was awake probably nine out of ten times.

He really was an extremely light sleeper, and there was no way the loud alarm going off wouldn’t wake him, even if Morisuke switched it off right away.

Besides, if he knew I was faking when I rolled over and put my arm over him, he’d totally kill me. It’s just so adorable how he uses his pillow to replace himself when he goes. And then he kisses me goodbye when he thinks I’m settled again. Seriously, what did I do to deserve an omega like him?

Lev’s eyelids felt heavy again, and he could hear Morisuke in the kitchen, probably whipping up something quickly for breakfast before he left.

Maybe I’ll get up with him tomorrow…if I get up now, he’ll know I was faking, and my secret will be out.

The alpha yawned, then pulled the duvet up to his chin and closed his eyes, and before long, Morisuke was out the door, and Lev was fast asleep again.
