"Why are you doing this to me"
Chloe's voice rang in the apartment, tears falling from her eyes and Lucifer froze.
He was ranting about the things he was going to do to make sure that he becomes god, not focusing on Chloe much which he's been doing for while since this angelic competition started.
"Doing what?!" He asked concerned.
"Being so blind to everything.. everyone" answered Chloe.
"Darling, I was just busy, I thought you'd understand.."
Chloe cut him "understand, yes. That's what I've been doing for some time now, being understanding, supportive 24/7. Because you're going through a lot and I really do understand."
"But in the middle of all of this I've dropped the fact that I was going through a lot too, I am dealing with god, angels, hell an angel kidnapped me, and you pushing me away and when you're not you're too focused on being god so much that you don't notice anyone else. And I just have to get over all this and focus on you because you're the one that's suffering now, you're the one that matters, but what about me?"
"Did you stop for one second to consider how all of this affects me?!"
"Answer!" She yelled
Lucifer was taken aback, he was shocked and didn't know what to say, he wanted to tell her that him being focused on being god was for her, for them, so they won't be separated ever.
His mouth moved without forming words, Chloe shook her head and put her hand on her face, it ended up on her mouth while she raised her eyes to him, looking like she made up her mind on something.
"You know, you were probably saying the truth"
"What do you mean?!" Said Lucifer doubtfully not knowing what she meant.
She continued "when you said that you can't say the three words to me because they would be a lie"
"No, no, no that's not true.."
"Why? did you lie?! I've been sort of in denial the past couple of months, but I can see now that it's the truth."
"No, detective, Chloe.."
"You don't love me" her voice cracked. "How many times you could've chosen between me and other things and didn't choose me?!"
Before Lucifer can reply or say that everything he's been doing is for her, that she's the reason for everything he does, she started moving towards the door.
Taking her keys "I need some air." she said and then left.
Lucifer realised for the first time that he was probably doing things wrong, that him trying to keep her forever, to be worthy may end up being the reason he looses her.
And the devil cried.
