Work Text:

Knowing his problem children, Aizawa had suspected that the code they’d come up with would be put into place as soon as humanly possible. He was right. Nearly one whole day had passed before he heard his students using unusual turns of phrases in the heat of battle, leading to coordinated attacks or switching of battle partners. He was rather proud of his kids - although he would never admit it on pain of death - but hearing their code phrases always threw him off. He knew, though, that it was only a matter of time before he would somehow be roped into using their code. He silently prayed that it would be later - he knew better than to wish for it not to happen at all. It seemed that whatever force in the universe that Aizawa was talking to either didn’t hear, didn’t care, or thought it would be funny to watch Aizawa suffer.

Aizawa wasn’t totally sure how they had ended up in this position. He supposed that it was just the luck of being Class 1-A’s homeroom teacher. But here he was on a Sunday morning, battling a villain in a supermarket.

The day had started out innocuously enough. Sunday was Class 1-A’s weekly shopping day. As a stipulation in the dorm agreements that had convinced their parents to allow them to live in the dorms, and as the result of increased villain attacks in the past few weeks, one of the pro hero teachers accompanied the class on their trip. This week it was Aizawa’s turn.

How his entire class had managed to come along was something that Aizawa didn’t understand. Originally, it was supposed to be only Bakugo, Midoriya, and Todoroki. But somehow he had ended up leading a rowdy group of twenty through the sliding doors of the supermarket like some kind of mother duck from hell. He groaned before turning to face his students.

“Go in, get what you need, and get out. We’re leaving in twenty minutes.” With a look to some of his students, he hissed, “No. Fucking. Quirks. Got it?” Twenty heads nodded in unison. A few even had the audacity to salute him. He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. With a dismissive flap of his hands, the students of Class 1-A ran rampant in the supermarket. Aizawa stood for a moment, then walked to the supermarket cafe, hoping to at least get a coffee out of the situation. Just as he stepped up to order, he heard a loud and monstrous roar behind him. He sighed once again and turned on his heel, walking towards the noise.

He was met with the sight of his students being thrown around the room as if they were little more than sacks of flour. Normally, he would have descended into a more well-concealed protective rage. Alas, this Aizawa had not yet had his fifth cup of coffee. Without warning, he activated his quirk and released his capture weapon, drawing the villain to him before slugging him across the face. The man, stunned, hung limply in his grasp. The cacophony of battle ceased almost instantaneously. Aizawa looked up and was met with twenty pairs of expectant eyes. He knew, he just fucking knew, that they were desperate for him to use their ridiculous code. Midoriya’s eyes shone with eager anticipation. He resembled a dog, begging its master for a game of fetch. And Aizawa was powerless to resist.

Aizawa sighed in resignation. Well, he thought , if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em . In the most deadpan expression he could muster, he spoke.

“This bitch empty.” The class erupted in screams. In unison, twenty teenagers, with the power of god and anime on their side, yelled in unison.

“YEET.” Aizawa tossed the man in his arms as far as he could. The airborne body was quickly bombarded with ice, explosions, air bullets, stray rocks, acids, and other quirked items until the man’s body resembled a bruised apple. He landed at the feet of an incredibly shocked brigade of police, who moved to restrain the man with quirk-cancelling cuffs as soon as they were knocked out of their stupor. After all, it wasn’t every day that you see Shota Aizawa quoting vines.

With the villain properly escorted by the police, Aizawa turned to his students.

“You fuckers owe me coffee.”

The class cheered, and despite his best intentions, Aizawa smiled under his capture weapon. If his heart leapt at the sight of their exuberance, well, no one but the folds of alloy surrounding his neck would ever know.
