Shizusumi fell in love one ordinary summer.
Hiiragi fell in love another.
Shizusimi didn’t know what love meant as a carefree child. He didn’t know the emotions that would overwhelm him. He didn’t know how he could have felt so many things. But alas, the most dazzling person in the world caught his attention. Much like a shining stone in a sandbox, the love of his life stood out, and all he wanted to do was tuck away and keep the boy he loved.
Shizusumi never realized growing up what it meant to give your heart to a person who did not even know they had it. He never realized how strongly he felt, how he would be willing to give up his whole life. He never realized any of this when he fell in love one day as an innocent child.
Shizusumi is a simple boy who always knows what he wants. When he wants something, he gets it. Or so he thought. He never realized how much he would want Hiiragi. So desperately in love it hurt. He knew he couldn’t do anything about it. He knew how much he loved Hiiragi from a very young age. Though, he never expected what would come with this love.
Hiiragi was quite flippant. Quite moody. Quite dramatic. Quite in love with his best friend. He wasn’t quite sure what to make of his emotions. He didn’t understand how he never realized what he felt for his best friend was indeed love. Love. Love didn’t even begin to describe what he was feeling. The word felt too small for his large emotions.
Hiiragi also fell in love one summer but did not realize until years later. Finally having an explanation for his feelings was reliving, but also nerve-wracking.
His love for Shizusumi spread far and wide. He always felt so incredibly safe in his presence. Shizu was the one person he could always turn to. The one person that would always be there for him. Shizusumi has experienced all of Hiiragi’s highs and lows, not once leaving him in the dark.
Shizusumi was incredibly kind. He may not have looked it, but he was always paying close attention to Hiiragi. Hiiragi and Shizusumi had this silent, unbreakable bond. They just knew what each other needed. On the outside, their friendship might have appeared like nothing special, but the relationship they shared was everything. It was everything they needed. All they needed was each other.
Ordinary, but extraordinary love.
That is where this story begins. Two lovestruck boys on a hot summer day. If only they knew what the other was feeling.
