Work Text:

Reki flies past Dope Sketch, heading towards the skate park. He’s supposed to meet Langa there this afternoon and he’s running late. He had to help his mom wrangle his twin sisters for their nap, which is never any easy feat. He usually wouldn’t feel this bad being twenty minutes late, but today is his and Langa’s one month anniversary.

Reki always rolled his eyes at couples who would celebrate small milestones like this and thought they were silly. But, now? Reki would find any small occasion to celebrate with Langa. It’s something he adores about Langa - he will always go with any insane plan Reki comes up with. Reki enjoys Langa’s bizarre ideas, too, even if he thinks Langa might just be crazy sometimes. It’s cute, though.

Reki remembers the first Langa skated at S - with his feet taped to the falling apart skateboard. Reki definitely thought Langa would bail and get seriously injured, but Langa didn’t. It’s one of those strange things about him - Langa is determined and smart. He wouldn’t have done it if he knew it was something he didn’t have a chance of pulling off. Langa isn’t that reckless and Reki adores him. The thought of being reckless makes Reki think of Adam and he shakes his head to dissipate the thought.

Not today. No, today is a day for him and Langa only. Reki’s never even dated anyone before, so hitting the one month mark is exciting for him. Reki is giddy, he wants to shout and yell and laugh. Sometimes he still wakes up in disbelief that Langa likes him, too! It’s not just pining and an unrequited crush. He gets to hold Langa’s hand and kiss him and cuddle with him all he wants. Reki can’t help but grin.

He’s bought takeout from one of Langa’s favorite restaurants and it’s secured in his backpack along with a blanket for a picnic. Reki hopes it’ll be just romantic enough, since they’ll technically still be just a few yards away from the skate park. He seems to woo Langa when he wants to, though, and he’s sure Langa will like this. Either way, Langa loves chicken katsu from this place.

“Sorry I’m late!” Reki calls as he sees Langa warming up on a ramp.

“Reki,” Langa turns to him and smiles, no sense of annoyance on his face.

Reki catches up to him, panting a bit from how fast he was skating to get to Langa. Langa’s eyes are bright and Reki wants to kiss him right there in the middle of the park.

“Wait here!” Langa says and ducks behind the ramp.

When he pops back out he’s holding a bouquet of flowers. They’re lilacs. Reki blushes and he can tell Langa’s a bit red, too, even though his bangs are long enough to cover half his face.

“For you,” Langa sticks out the flowers, “Happy one month.”

Reki takes the bouquet and he thinks he might just melt to the ground at any moment. The gesture is so romantic and sweet, his head is swirling and he feels light-headed.

He thinks of when they were at Hiromi’s work a few weeks ago. He had been showing them popular flowers and their meanings. Reki blushes even harder when he realizes light purple lilacs mean first love. He wonders if Langa had coincidentally picked out the flowers or if he remembered. His gut tells him Langa wouldn’t have just picked out the bouquet randomly and Reki’s heart does a backflip.

“Thank you, Langa. I love them.” Reki means it with all his heart.

“Do you remember when we hung out at Hiromi’s and he told us about flowers?” Langa asks, his voice soft.

Reki nods, “I remember.”

“Do you remember light lilacs?” Langa follows up and now he’s blushing just as hard as Reki is.

“First love,” Reki says, dropping his eyes, suddenly shy.

It’s been a while since Langa’s made him feel so shy.

“Reki,” Langa takes a step closer, “I love you.”

Oh. It’s happening. Langa loves him. Langa loves him back.

Reki’s brain has shut down and he’s on autopilot as he lunges himself at Langa and closes the short distance between them. He locks his arms behind Langa’s neck, along with the bouquet, and kisses his boyfriend. His boyfriend that loves him!

Langa’s only shocked for a moment until he kisses Reki back. Reki kisses Langa as if this is his last breath and he wants it to be one he shares with Langa. But, Reki’s not thinking of anything sad and dark. He feels like his whole body has been lit with fireworks. He feels like he’s buzzing as he presses one more kiss, another, and another onto Langa’s lips until both of their lips are bruised and red.

Once they finally pull away for air and they’re both panting as if they’ve just ran a beef at S, Reki drops his head onto Langa’s shoulder. Langa’s arms tighten around his waist and pull him in tighter.

“Langa… I love you, too,” Reki says and even though Langa can’t even see his face right now, he’s blushing as he shoves his face harder against Langa’s chest.

“You do?” Langa laughs, it’s a twinkling and golden laugh.

“I do, I love you,” Reki says, pulling away, pouting at Langa to show he’s serious.

“You look cute when you do that,” Langa says, his hands running up and down Reki’s sides.

“Langa, please,” Reki whines as he drops his head onto Langa’s shoulder again.

“It’s the truth,” Langa murmurs and lays his chin on top of Reki’s head.

“Oh! The food’s gonna get cold!” Reki remembers after a moment.

“Food?” Langa perks up and it makes Reki giggle.

Reki pulls away, “Yeah, I got your favorite! We can have a picnic.”

Reki rushes to his backpack to set up the blanket and to lay out the food. When he turns to look back at Langa, he’s grinning and shouting for Reki to hurry up, he’s hungry.

When they’re finally settled and ready to eat, Reki suddenly sneezes five times in a row. Oh no.

“Reki, what’s wrong?”

“I forgot to take my allergy pill, I can’t do pollen.”

Achoo! At least he has a boyfriend who loves him, Reki thinks as he sneezes again.
