Work Text:
When the first petal fell into his palm, he thought it was seeing things. A single purple petal was lying against his skin, stained with blood that Yami can barely pay attention to. A petal is a thing, William owns a lot of flowers, but when that particular petal comes from his throat, soaked in blood and saliva, it was another.
It's not a rare occurrence... People falling in love with the wrong person, coughing flowers and choking on it till they die. It's something no one can explain, something no one can cure, the flowers start blooming, the second love awakens in one's heart and dies when that love is returned.
But sometimes, the flowers don't die.
Yami's flowers should have died too, he loves William, and William loved him, they literally share the same roof now so the petal in his palm makes no sense.
He sighs, and washes his hands instead, tries not to think much about it, it's just a petal, perhaps it was the remains of the ones he used to have.
William loves him.
He loves William.
He'd never doubt him.
"Yami?" He turns his head to see William by the door of the bathroom, and he immediately wipes his lips with his arm not wanting him to worry, already trying to come up with a sort of lie in case he asked if he's okay.
"Can't wait to go to your Garden don't you?" He asks, but not really expecting an answer from him. He already promised William he'd helped him with his garden, the flowers growing in their backyard already looking like a small piece of land with wild flowers.
"Can't help myself, you were a bit late." Yami laughs, and apologizes, kissing the top of his head, telling him that he's just going to pick up tools and William can go ahead.
He loved William no matter what he thought of himself, he was beautiful, he was kind, he was everything he could have asked for, he arrived at the point in his life when he genuinely thought he would die alone.
Laughter echoes throughout their little backyard, hands intertwined, no work even done, petals and leaves already stuck in Yami's hair while a rose is tucked behind one of William's ears.
And it was easy to tell that Yami loved William.
And William loved Yami.
But the skeletons underneath the garden would tell him otherwise.
