Work Text:
Six heard Mono groan behind her and turned around, he was holding his head in pain, she knows he mentioned he gets pain in his head sometimes, it was cause his eyes can't handle bright lights very well and because of... Well the strange tvs. She walked over over to him, his eyes were screwed shut and she could faintly see tears in his eyes, oh this was one of the worst ones she's seen him endure. She looked around for anything to help, his paper bag was missing and they were trying to find it cause it seemed his rain cap wasn't doing the same thing that his paper bag can do. He made a distressed noise and fell to his knees his head was hurting so bad. Six sees some things scattered around them and was getting an idea for something she can do for him.
"Hey..." Her voice barely a whisper because any louder sounds would make his head worse, she sees him look at her confused and she took her raincoat off and put it over him, taking her hood and pulling it over his head, Before he could really ask anything he was ushered to a shady spot away from the bright lights of any actives televisions for the viewers or the buzzing street lights. Six motioned he stay right there and she ran off getting to work on... Something? He bundled up in the coat, the hood covering his eyes and giving him a moment to relax, but his head still felt like it was pounding against his skull and he just wished it could stop. Normally he could push past it and it goes away on its own after some rest but sometimes it doesn't always work out. He gave a small whimper when the pain flared up if he thought about it too much, he closes his eyes and takes deep breaths in the hope it can ease his headache.
Six was bust at work with something, she had managed making a structure but it needed some things, she snaps her fingers and snuck into some houses, pulling out some giant pillow and a blanket, she had to move fast or the things would be soaked with rainwater and that didn't sound the most comfortable. Once she finished she checked to make sure that it was stable and wouldn't fall over or anything, when everything was prepared she huffs in satisfaction and runs back over to Mono.
His headache wasn't going away and he hated that, it slowed him down and made him feel worse. He felt a hand on his shoulder and it's Six, she looks different without her coat on, she helps him to his feet and motions he follows her, so he does. When they stop he sees that Six made some kind of shelter out of old wood and a blanket like an improvised door, he crawls inside and the dim light made him feel less tense, there was little sound from the outside in here and it made him feel, a lot better. He sees Six crawl inside with him and smile, he smiles back and hugs her, She hugged him and pats his back making him hold her a little tighter, he gave her back her raincoat and laid back on the big pillow, it was dark, it was quiet... He sighs in content. She crawled over next to him and pulled a blanket over the both of them. He bumps his forehead to hers, the headache gone enough for him to do this and closed his eyes.
Six is about to fall asleep when she hears noise outside, She moved the blanket aside for a moment and sees some Nomes and a kid in a blue shirt shivering from the cold, she frowns for a moment and looked at Mono, he looked to be sound asleep. Six rolls her eyes for a moment and motions that they can comes in to get out of the rain. Six looks around for anyone else and there's a girl with a long braid and a coat similar to her own. "Oi..." She calls the girl over and lets her inside.
Mono made a noise of confusion at the sudden movements and opened his eyes to these new kids showing up, he looks to six for an answer and she made a face for a moment, she wasn't about to let some other kids freeze out in the cold and rain she's not heartless. Mono hugs her and she nuzzles into his chest while everyone else gets comfortable in the little fort to sleep and get out of the rain.
Slowly but surely each child and nome fell asleep, Mono looked around to the other kids and then to his friend Six. He cuddles her and nods off in a matter of minutes. Tomorrow his headache will be long gone and he has Six to thank for that. Maybe if they were lucky these two will stick around? He didn't mind having traveling buddies. But... That's something to think about tomorrow.
