Summary:

Jihoon had given up the idea of soulmates since his highschool days.

Chapter 1: We Find Love

Chapter Text

“Can't you see? We're closed, sir. Just come back tomorrow.” Lowkey shooing away the man, Jihoon rolled his eyes secretly as he securely locked the place. He heard a little ‘tsk’ from the guy but for all he care, he just want to have some peaceful night walk to his apartment. That's it.

He slid his phone out before taking his umbrella in the air as it opened. Jihoon sighed in relief when he saw that it's just 8 pm and there's no much people around the station. He can't last another day waiting for a slot inside the buses or the trains.

Jihoon loves rain. He loves the cozy feeling of rainy days that convey such comfort for the grown man, and it helps him to forgot how lonely he is for an adult who's at the age of 29 that can easily snatch a man to marry.

But not on his case, because for him who haven't met his soulmate that can light his eyes up to visibly see the forms of constellations in his eyes, he hated the concept of soulmates more than anything.

Because what now if they be able to see the formed constellation in your eyes? Does that make your feelings attached to some invisible string as the day goes by? No, because at the end of the day. Jihoon will be alone at night, without needing anyone's company or presence because he's not gonna depend his happiness to anyone but himself.

He'll never depend his happiness to anyone because making himself happy is his own issue. It's a choice, and it's his decision to make. Not those soulmate shits that people created in those books scattered in the library of their previous college university.

If only he knew.

Jihoon heaved another sigh as he crosses the street, mindful of the wet road, and the crowd approaching his way. He got his earphone in his ear, listening to Daniel Caesar's We Find Love with his hoodie on. His specs reflects the street lights, people's phone flashes as they flick for a picture out of nowhere, gloved hands in his coat as the mask hid the half of his face only for his eyes to see the sidewalks.

It was his usual nightwalk after his work from an old shop that sells antics, and miniatures.

“What the hell, man?” Jihoon jabbered, brows drew together and pissed. Somebody stepped on a poddle making his shoes all wet, and it pissed the hell out of Jihoon since he just got his brand new shoes from his brother as a gift. People and their shits, what the fuck.

He heard a sorry from the girl, so he just let it pass and stood beside the street light near the intersection to check his shoes. “What's wrong with people? They know how to pay taxes and still don't know how to dodge a poddle?”

Whispering his rants, he didn't saw another crowd coming from the other side of the intersection. His eyes widened when the vertical traffic light became green, along the set of different people coming towards his direction that makes him panic. He needs to cross the intersection or he'll not make it in time for his stop at the station.

So, he ran straight to the other side of the street. With nothing but the fear of not making it in time for the next train. It was just the will to get past the ocean of people Jihoon got that time—

but not the will to past a guy drenched in water, hiding himself with the thick black hoodie, and when the smaller guy moved his head heavenward, locked his eyes on Jihoon's orbs,

Jihoon knew. He knew.

His eyes formed the zodiac constellation called Aquarius in seconds that felt like forever as they slowly pass across each other.

A rainy night at the intersection near his shop, Jihoon knew he found his soulmate as his eyes still forms Aquarius when he crossed the street with widened eyes. He was never new to the concept of soulmates that were told to his generation for a hundred time, but what's he's new about was—

seeing someone so beautiful with simply black drenched hair, small detailed face, and soft features.

“Wait...”

He turned his head to the direction he came from, eyes still lightened up with his sign, and he his orbs wander around the area with the small hope of seeing a small figure covered in black get-up and drenched black hair.

So, he ran.

From the other side of the street to the other, without knowing why and what he was doing as if he was hypnotized by some eyes he just encountered minutes ago. The rain poured with a strong set of droplets, the people started to run to the nearest shed, and Jihoon just let his brand new shoes get all drenched as his eyes roams around the area.

His keen eyes never failed him because he saw a figure at the small route beside the department store, back against the wall and head looking downward.

Jihoon stopped and pants. “W-What the hell am I... doing?”

His umbrella were crumpled because of the strong wind, but all he care for now was the man's shaking figure as if he was cold, and closed to collapsing.

“Hey...” He took all the courage and step towards the shaking man.

And there, his lightened and gleaming eyes found its way to encounter the same eyes he just met for, 5 minutes ago.

“Are you okay?”

“Go away.”

Jihoon was taken aback, but he offered his slightly wet coat to the man. “You can use mine if you're col—”

“I said, go away!” He shouted, his hoodie's off his head and his drenched black hair exposed at the dark alley. With only the two of them.

The guy expected for Jihoon to go away out of fear, get lost and leave him alone in the dark route beside the store. But oh, was he so wrong.

“You look... beautiful.”

“What?!”

Jihoon's orbs widened as it slowly forms the constellations once again, indulged with the man's appearance. So he took a step forward, making the smaller guy take three steps back.

He met Jihoon's eyes that suddenly outshines the rest of the stars of that rainy night, and Jihoon whispered.

“You look beautiful.”

The smaller guy find him crazy, but he couldn't find a proper word to say when a stranger just come up to him saying how beautiful he is with weird lighting in his eyes that he couldn't explain. The guy was simply, lost.

Jihoon held his hand up that made the guy jump, “You've seen it too, right?”

“W-What? Wait, who are you?”

“The soulmate thing!”

From that same night, things were destined to change because of the words he said, ever so confused and frustrated.

“What? Soulmate? The hell is that?”

That when things sinked in Jihoon's mind. His eyes formed his constellation that represent him when he met the other's eyes, Aquarius.

And the smaller man's orbs lighted with nothing—

but dullness, obsolescence, and no sign of stars were formed.

That night, destiny become the boss of their lives and for the first time, Jihoon didn't drop the idea of soulmates because he knew, Hyunsuk was his soulmate.

But why the guy's eyes didn't form anything at all when Jihoon's eyes gleamed?

No one really knows.

But the universe.

He was about to ask something when Jihoon witnessed how the small body slowly dropped to the floor, shaking with eyes closed firmly. Jihoon was shocked and ran towards the guy's unconscious body.

“Hey!”
