Harold shrieked at the Chris McLean lookalike and pulled the blanket off to reveal the full body of the cadaver. From end to end, his bunk was soaked with the slimy, green water that dripped off the cadaver. It left the pillow, blanket, and sheets all wet and unusable.
Just then, Duncan arrived, laughing so much that he was wheezing as soon as he saw Harold. “Guess you’re sleeping with the Chris’s,” Duncan said between his laughter.
Gosh, that was an awful pun, Harold thought, though he didn’t dare tell Duncan. He hated the punk, and he desperately needed sleep - unlike Duncan who slacked off studying for the challenge and got plenty of sleep the night before. Or Leshawna for that matter; he was happy for her, but the spa trip would’ve been great for him. Harold was so exhausted, but there was no way that he could sleep in his own bed tonight.
It was an unofficial rule that people weren’t supposed to disturb their eliminated teammates’ beds, on the off chance they would return in a later episode and out of respect. The rule was mostly put in place due to Eva freaking out when she came back and noticed that someone had switched her pillow. That meant he couldn’t sleep in anyone else’s bunk.
There was also an extra bunk in the boys’ trailer, but Owen had claimed it and used it as a storage area for his snacks. The trailer’s many cabinets weren’t enough for all his food. Crumbs and stains and wrappers littered the bed, so that wasn’t an option either.
The couch was overflowing with luggage and dirty clothes, so he couldn’t sleep there either. Gosh, what hypocrites. He had been “taught a lesson” for leaving his clothes out in the open, but they were perfectly fine with it when it was one of them.
Harold sighed, he supposed he would have to sleep on the floor tonight. He curled up into a ball and draped one of his shirts over his body like a tiny blanket. Harold just barely closed his eyes, and suddenly he was stepped on.
“Oops sorry, didn’t see you there,” Duncan leered from above him.
Harold clutched his stomach in pain, “Yeah you did, gosh!”
“Maybe I didn’t. You don’t know. You’re not some all seeing eye ,” Duncan continued to taunt him with a downright evil smile and eyes that obviously saw Harold on the ground.
Duncan walked away and Harold thought he was safe, but his makeshift blanket was swiftly kicked off of him. He glared at Duncan.
“Sorry, I tripped.”
Harold grumbled and got up, snatching his shirt on his way out the door and throwing it at Duncan’s head. He didn’t bother turning around to see if it hit him, but Duncan loudly yelled, “Missed!” Whatever, even if he missed it felt good to let out his frustration towards the punk.
Now where else could he sleep? Craft services? Chef was up bright and early “cooking” there, and he had no idea what he’d do to him if he was found sleeping there. Anywhere outside was off limits; it got pretty cold at night and there was still that bear from the first episode and other animals roaming around. The confessional was closed at night, and he wouldn’t stoop as low as to sleep in the bathroom. Duncan had once fallen asleep on the toilet, he snickered to himself. Besides, these were all Duncan-accessible areas. There was still one place Harold could try. He found himself knocking on the door of the girls’ trailer.
Lindsay opened the door, “Hi, Harry!”
“Hi, Lindsay. It’s actually Harold. May I come in?”
“Ooh yeah, it can be like a sleepover!” Lindsay opened the door wider and motioned for him to enter.
Harold looked around. Gosh, the girls’ trailer was much cleaner than theirs. Lindsay and Beth were seated on their shared bunk, and he saw Izzy growling in her sleep. If only Leshawna was here.
Harold made his way to the couch. No random clothes here, he noted. “Do you mind if I sleep here tonight? Duncan ruined my bed with his prank. I’ll just sleep on the couch, and I won’t bother you guys.”
“Sure, Duncan is such a meanie,” Lindsay nodded in understanding. Beth nodded as well.
The two whispered for a bit and Beth spoke up, “Well, we do have an extra bunk,” she pointed to the farthest bed.
“That’s okay, I'm fine with sleeping on the couch.”
“Oh but it’s Heather’s bunk. I’m sure she wouldn’t mind,” Beth and Lindsay smiled.
The two girls looked a little too happy with their big smiles, but Harold took them up on the offer. The bed was much more comfortable than the couch. Plus, he said it before that he could handle Heather.
Harold made his way to the empty bunk and crawled under the sheets. It was just as comfy as his own bed. Well duh, of course it was, they were all identical bunk beds. Harold just barely closed his eyes, and suddenly he was yelled at.
“Harold, what the hell are you doing here - and under my bunk?” Heather yelled, hands on her hips. She had returned from a shower clad in two purple towels, one around her body and another in her hair.
“I was sleeping, gosh. And everyone else told me this was the only empty bunk,” Harold peeked out from under the covers. He heard muffled giggles from Beth and Lindsay.
Heather shot an angry look at the two giggling girls then turned back to Harold, “But why are you here? Don’t you have your own bed?”
“Duncan put the Chris cadaver in my bed, and now it’s all dirty, so I can’t sleep there.”
“What about the extra bunk in the boy’s trailer?”
“Owen needs two.”
“Ugh, whatever, just don’t try anything funny,” she warned him as she tightened her towel. “Now close your eyes and turn around. I’m going to change.”
Harold, being the gentleman he was, did just that. However, he did get a good view of Heather in her tiny pink shorts as she climbed into her bed.
Duncan may have made him pee his pants in his sleep, made him eat his own underwear, exposed his naked body to every girl on the island, and had done countless pranks on him including pantsing him and ruining his bed today. But whose request for a bunk under Heather was accepted? Not Duncan’s.
