Work Text:

It wasn’t exactly what you’d expected when you went off to the Outlaws’ island to visit for the weekend, but you definitely weren’t complaining about how it’d all gone down. The first day was about what you’d planned, dinner and catching up (with plenty of hugs demanded by Kori) before having a bonfire of some shit Oliver sent Roy late into the evening. The second day, however, had gone from lounging on the beach to a rather hilarious game of chicken in no time flat.

You were fairly sure Roy was the one that started it when he’d gone from roughhousing with you in the water to lifting you up on his shoulders. The taunt, “Come on, Jaybird, too chicken?” seemed to be something you recalled. Then the next thing you knew, Jason was squawking gracelessly as Kori hefted him onto her shoulders effortlessly. As soon as he’d gotten his bearings, that mischievous smirk you so loved appeared across his features.

“Hope you know I’m not gonna go easy on you, sweetheart,” he teased, wiggling his fingers ominously as Roy moved you closer to your opponents.

“And I hope you know that I’m gonna kick your ass, pretty boy.”

“Bring it on.”

And you did.

Which didn’t mean much considering that Kori being on his team was absolutely an unfair advantage due to her super strength despite what the pair argued.

In the end, while Roy did a great job of not tipping over from either the odd weight shifts of you and Jason grappling at each other or the tide, there wasn’t really much either of you could do to prevent Jason from just picking you up and slinging you over his shoulder. Then, while you were desperately trying not to kick Kori in the head with your flailing, she went and scooped the archer up out of the water and into a bridal carry.

“Jason!” you shrieked over the sounds of the other three cackling.

He snickered. “Complain all you want; you still lost.”

“Well, this is without doubt the weirdest way this could have gone,” Roy announced, though as far as you could see he was making no moves to escape.

“Yes, this definitely feels like one of those … Kodak moments described by the man on the TV,” Kori agreed.

You didn’t even have to look at Roy to see the way his eyes lit up at that. “It’s Kodak, babe, but that is an excellent idea! Roybots! Activate surveillance mode and take a picture!”

“Roy Harper, I know damn well you didn’t just tell them to take a picture that’s just going to have my ass in frame!”

“Aw, come on!” he whined. “Think of it this way; when we’re old and have nothing better to do than look back on the pictures of the awesome stuff we used to do, you’re gonna love it.”

“Not if it’s just of my ass!”

“Alright, then I’ll love it, but it’s going on the living room wall whether you like it or not!”

Jason!”
